The opportunities you have provided her and the joy her little job brings her is like nothing else she knows in her life. For that, we are eternally grateful. Where else can a girl in a wheelchair learn how to sail?! It's just amazing. The sailing facility and boathouse are beautiful and located right on the water, next to Monty's in Coconut Grove. You offer sailing lessons for all ages, and in the summer there are camps for the kids. My fiancée and I have also attended a few of the charity family events that you have hosted here, in order to support the community, and they are always a blast!!! There are always tons of activities for the kids and the adults, lots of food, and information on the different disabilities. Just a spectacular organization and your motto is right on! When we got back we needed to use the restrooms and they were locked but we went to Grove Isle Condos and they allowed us to use the facilities which was great! Grove Isle is a tiny island off Coconut Grove where the posh and refined Miami folk reside. The docks are perfectly maintained which is a plus. There's a restaurant and spa on premise aside from the marina which totally add to the luxurious ambience. It's not a far ride to Key Biscayne or the Miami river which makes the location unbeatable. Residents can keep their boats here at rented or owned slots which is an advantage to being a resident or member of this community.

The last two dive trips that we have done with them were great and we had a wonderful time. I have done approximately 20 dives with this company. However, this last time the guides were so disconnected. Michael and Dololly in the shop were so helpful but as soon as we got on the boat we were basically on our own. The only person that was even remotely helpful was Marco, who we had dove with before. He seemed to be the only guide that knew how to man the boat. Riley was absolutely clueless and rude. She was the guide that stayed on the boat to help us on/off the boat and while my mother was trying to get back on, she let go of her without warning leading to her falling and gashing open her leg. When I asked my mom what happened to her leg Riley snidely commented well she fell on the boat. Then while she was helping me get on the boat she grabbed my air gauge causing me to almost fall as well. One of the guides, didn't catch his name, was drinking alcohol on the boat before and after the dive while certifying a 10 year old boy. I don't understand how this is allowed. Furthermore, our guide left us in the middle of the dive. He eventually showed up but did not seem able to navigate under water as the previous guides had. Which was very nerve wracking considering the currents we were moving into. He also did not help with getting on and off of the boat for the dives. He was very disengaged with our group and did not seem to want to even be a guide. Overall, a bad experience sadly as we have enjoyed our previous trips with them. It seems their guides have become much less knowledgeable and supportive than they used to be. Most dive guides are personable and want to share their dive knowledge, however this group seems to be more about just getting it done.

However, we have noticed that the prices have been sky rocketing lately. The price of an Old Fashioned is now over $20, which is ridiculous! Recently they had a 2 for 1 special on an Aperol Spritz but they jacked up the price to $17, which really only resulted in a nominal savings. Really, who would pay $17 for an Aperol Spritz? It doesn't cost that much on the Amalfi Coast!!! They had a crab cake special for $23. It came with 2 tiny crab cakes on a couple of lettuce leaves, with no sides. It was advertised as an entre, not an appetizer. They were ok, but nothing to write home about. That night we had 2 crab cake specials, and we each had the 2 for 1 spritz, total was $102 with tax & tip and we were still hungry. If the club wants to charge Ritz Carlton prices, they need to step up the quality. Or better yet, reduce the prices to a reasonable level more in line with a casual sailing club experience and quit gouging the members!

Maceo was a Cuban general and second-in-command of the Cuban Army of Independence. Antonio Maceo Park is located on the shore of the picturesque Blue Lagoon. There is a boat ramp people can use to access the lagoon. Other park amenities include a community center, bike racks, picnic tables, pavilions, and a playground. Right now the park is a bit of a mess with fences up for construction. The park is scheduled to receive new restrooms, renovation of the concrete boat ramp and floating dock, renovation of the sidewalks and the stationary dock, and renovation of the parking lot. Once the construction is finished I have no doubt that this will be a five star park.

Nixon Beach (Sandbar) is a popular boating destination spot which is situated approximately a…read morequarter mile south west of Key Biscayne. It's a great place to anchor up for the afternoon and enjoy the weather, scenery and the people you happen to be with. At low tide the water is about waist deep and it's clear blue. It can be a little breezy at times which can cause the boat to rock a bit, but if your use to that then you won't have any problems. You can snorkel and paddle board here and the waters are usually very calm. On the weekends if the weather is nice, it will be packed with day trip boaters, so get here early to secure a nice spot. Now the historical footnote. The sandbar is named after Richard Nixon, the thirty seventh President of The United States. I do vaguely remember him as the President, so I'm aging myself here He vacationed frequently in Key Biscayne during the 1960s and had many political benefactors in the Miami area. Back then, Key Biscayne was more or less a sleepy area with one luxury hotel and a lot of small old Florida style single homes. In 1969, shortly after Nixon became President, he purchased three of these homes on Bay Lane, at well below market prices from Florida Senator George Smathers. The houses were in a compound that had a private beach. The Secret Service & US military had to construct a helipad to accommodate Marine One. The cost of the helipad and security upgrades to the residences was estimated at about 400k. Nixon made fifty trips there during the course of his Presidency (no, there wasn't an audio taping system in the place). Now here is the kicker, after resigning in 1974 he sold the properties, which included the helipad, at a huge profit (no, not a crook ) and was accused of benefiting from taxpayers expense. For you movie buffs Scarface was also filmed on Key Biscayne. The residences were torn down in '04 when a local real estate bought them and built a modern mansion. In addition to taking in the beautiful natural views, you can also admire the multi multi million dollar mansions that are now on Key Biscayne. Mr. Nixon probably should have held on to those properties a little bit longer.

This is a major spot for boaters searching for a nearby spot to enjoy shallow waters amongst one of the most populated and lively water spots in miami. You can't swim over here so obviously a boat is required but be prepared for a plentiful bunch of party people. With a loaded cooler and plenty of music, you'll fit in just too. It's not for the faint of heart and unless it's on a weekday, I wouldn't label it kid-friendly on most summer weekends. It's not a far drive so arriving here doesn't take much fuel if you're coming from a nearby marina. Don't forget your sunscreen because it's crucial for those days where there's not a cloud in sight.
