When our refrigerator started leaking, we were referred to Tikal Appliance for service on it, and I…read moream so glad that we were! Mr. Angel Sandoval was prompt, courteous, and incredibly professional. He confirmed what was going on with our refrigerator, and fixed everything up within an hour. What we liked about him was how he tried to take us through the process and teach us about our own refrigerator and what he was doing. He also provided us with a few maintenance tips to keep it running smoothly in the future. His work was very quick and efficient, and his demeanor was kind and attentive. We hope not to ever need service on our appliances again... but when we inevitably do, Tikal Appliance is the first and only place we'll call.

Called this business because my refrigerator displayed an error code and was not staying as cold as…read moreit should be. I googled the code which said it was a fan error. Repairmen showed up a few days later to look at it. Does about 5 minutes of work before telling me "the compressor is bad but no one will replace an LG compressor and even if they did, it would cost you $1,000 minimum." He then said I needed to buy a new fridge and then told me they carried them at their store and I should come by. But something was off... if the compressor was bad then why was the fridge/freezer still cold enough to make ice and it certainly wasn't warm. A friend suggested that it might be a frozen (literally) compressor and to unplug it for 24 hours and then plug it back in. That was 4 days ago and our fridge is working perfect. If I'd listened to this companies advice I would of thrown away a $3,000 fridge and then spent another $3,000 on a fridge... that's a $6,000 mistake and completely ridiculous. I got the feeling that this error was motivated by the desire to get us to buy a new fridge from them... if that's true then they're not just incompetent but they're criminals. I'd avoid doing business here.

When I told her that I will look for an unopened one, she told me that I have to buy it somewhere else, with an attitude. Who would know if the batteries are still good? She said that customers opened it to see if it will fit, what? She said, just like what you did! Wtf! I only have to open the battery cover of my garage door opener to see it, the number. One thing, don't blame the customers. She must be new, I go to Sears a lot, it is my first time seeing her there. I bought stuffs from there, if I think the price is reasonably good. I wish I got her name, Lola and Al wouldn't be happy at all. Next time I go there I will ask for her name. Btw, it is a good thing she sent me out, I went to Auto Zone, there they have batteries for better prices. Follow-up soon!

I had a very upsetting experience witnessing an interaction between a Home Depot employee named…read moreDaren and an elderly customer. I wasn't the person being helped, but what I saw was difficult to watch. The elderly man politely approached Daren, who was standing alone at the cashier's desk, and asked for help finding an item for his kitchen. Daren immediately snapped, "I'm busy right now." The man apologized and said he would wait. When Daren was finally ready to speak with him, the customer began explaining what he needed. Before he could finish, Daren interrupted him and loudly said, "That makes no sense." Daren then said he would get someone else to help, but the customer appeared to be hard of hearing and didn't catch what he had said. A short time later, another Home Depot employee approached. Daren began raising his voice at the elderly man, saying, "Why did you go get someone else? Didn't you hear me say I would get someone for you?" The man apologized again and explained that he had misunderstood. Instead of showing patience or compassion, Daren continued speaking aggressively, making comments like, "Nothing gets past me," and, "The road ends here." The customer stayed quiet, apologized repeatedly, and simply waited. By the time I left, he had been waiting for at least 20 minutes and still had not received any help. It was genuinely difficult to watch. I wanted to step in and defend the elderly man, but Daren's aggressive behavior made me feel like I would be treated the same way. Daren may be a manager, but regardless of his position, this behavior was unacceptable. No customer--especially an elderly person who was polite, patient, and simply asking for assistance--should be spoken to this way. I sincerely hope a supervisor reviews this incident and addresses it appropriately, because this level of disrespect has no place in customer service.

When the technician arrived, he attempted to remove the freezer door and drawer to inspect the back panel inside the freezer for ice buildup. The process took a long time and involved a lot of pulling, prying, and loud banging, which made me feel that he was not very familiar with this specific model. Eventually, his colleague suggested adjusting the internal rollers, and after sliding them forward, the drawer came out easily. They then poured hot water on the rear panel and used a dryer to melt the ice. After this temporary fix, I was charged $179 for the visit. I was informed that they do not currently have the replacement thermostat and that they will return once the part arrives -- at which point I will need to pay again for the repair. I feel this is unfair, as I have already paid $179 and my refrigerator is still not functioning properly (40F)I was expecting either a permanent solution or clearer communication regarding the total cost of repair from the beginning. I hope the company will consider improving transparency and ensuring customers are not charged multiple times for a single unresolved issue.

This used to be in a much smaller location nearby. I thought that they had gone out of business,…read moreas when we were in town previously their space was emptied out. Hadn't realized that they'd expanded, added in vintage dealer spaces, and moved to a new place. Luckily, I found them online and realized that they had a new location. Dear Hubby and I had been staying in nearby Santa Maria and decided to drop in on our way south. It was worth the trip. I like that they have such a great variety of merchandise. The main front room is mostly spaces for local crafters / artisans with new or newer goods. Moving toward the back and side rooms, there are many booths for dealers with vintage / antique items. It's a browsers paradise! Couldn't resist picking up a sparkly pair of earrings, a "Farmhouse"-logo pillow, and some small succulents for a great price. Most everything seems fairly priced, actually. The woman minding the store (owner, perhaps?) was very friendly and helpful as we rounded up our purchases. I did ask about Mike's Birdhouses, which was one of the reasons that we'd stopped by. We'd previously purchased several of his charming rustic creations and were looking for more. Mike also operates a shop with model train supplies, but is only open a couple of days mid-week. The woman told us that she's reached out to him a number of times about him bringing in some of his birdhouses, but he hasn't made it happen yet. Still, it was enjoyable to see the different displays of goods. A lot of emphasis on Valentine's Day, which is coming soon. I'm sure they'll dive headfirst into Spring/Easter soon thereafter. Definitely worth a visit when you're in the area.
