They sell engineered wood flooring without proper protective coating, which is why the price looks low -- but you end up paying much more later. As soon as a little water touched the floors, it penetrated straight into the wood and changed the color. We were shocked. We had just spent a lot of money on new flooring, and instead we ended up with damaged wood within days. Because of these issues, we couldn't even move into our home. We had to stay in an Airbnb while dealing with the problem. We spent over $4,000 on temporary housing because of the extremely poor-quality material they sold us. Discount Floor sells cheap, low-quality engineered wood with almost no protective coverage. We will never buy from them again, and I strongly do not recommend them to anyone. Save yourself the stress, the money, and the headache. Go somewhere else.

Robert's team led by Carlos laced the wood back together (they had to take up a larger part of the floor because the boards didn't line up perfectly on either side of the old repair) and were able to reuse many of our existing boards to do it, you can see the new wood over by the wall in the collage. They sanded the floors down and prepared three stain samples (bottom left photo of the collage) based on colors we picked from a fan book they loaned us. The bottom right photo is the finished product and we couldn't be happier with how the floors turned out! They took great care of our home, using plastic to cover the openings to the kitchen and all vents so the dust didn't end up anywhere it shouldn't, and cleaned up the remaining dust when they finished. The stain is Nutmeg from Duraseal on red oak hardwood, with a Satin finish polyurethane sealant.

At Ganahl's I was treated with little care by a guy behind a desk who had no trim suggestions except either fiber cement board or redwood. HOWEVER, at Imperial Annie immediately suggested Bodyguard's 5.5" trim made for exterior applications. (I like the Bodyguard trim because it had eased edges that looked more finished than straight lumber edges). Annie explained how the pine product is double primed, etc. She called her supplier right away to see if they d it in stock which they did. She also showed me samples she's ordered for another client so I could see the quality of the product. In other words she took the time to care about what I was looking for. At Ganahl's they really didn't care about what I actually needed. My husband might prefer the redwood option(because it's a more "noble" wood than pine,) but I definitely prefer the great service at Imperial which is where I'd go for any future hardwood and moulding needs.

However, here at LA tile and Stone, they were aisles upon aisles of different kinds of stone and ceramic and porcelain tiles and more. It was great to see the displays on the walls for special orders, and the tiles and stones in boxes for those that are in stock already. There are so many options with outdoor tiling and indoor tiling options, and also some installed and showcase pieces like tub tiling. Each type was clearly marked on which brand or country they were from, and also what sizes or colors that the tile pattern came in, which was helpful. We quickly were able to find several options for our kitchen backsplash project. They offered a referral service in case we needed to have a tile install service. A couple days later I finally decided on which tile to use, and gave them a call to place an order. To make sure that we had our order correct, the lady told me to text her a photo of the tiles that I had taken. She also explained that with the number of tiles that were in each box I would have to buy a certain number of boxes to cover my project. The invoice was sent, and the tiles were ready when promised, only a couple days after I had made the text order. Great experience and would totally use LA tile and stone again for inspiration or for our next project!

Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. Even after everything was finished, they guaranteed that they would come back and fix anything that needed fixing. Cannot recommend them enough if you want to improve or build your new home!

We hired Crafty Hands to completely redo the flooring in the elevator of our condo building, and Akhmad did an outstanding job from start to finish. The existing flooring was extremely old, heavily worn, and honestly in terrible condition after many years of use. This was a major project that involved completely removing the old flooring, properly preparing the elevator floor, installing the new dark slate laminate flooring we selected, and finishing everything with a new transition strip. The transformation is incredible. The elevator looks completely refreshed -- clean, modern, professional, and dramatically better than what we had before. The new flooring has made a huge difference in the overall appearance of the elevator and really improved the look of the building. Akhmad handled the entire project himself and was professional, reliable, hardworking, and very easy to work with. He paid attention to the details and clearly took pride in making sure everything was done properly and looked great when finished. I got a quote, there was a little confusion when the worker came out about the work that was supposed to get done, fixing my door, frame, trim and threshold - but we worked it out. The worker completed the frame and as we agreed. That's the extent of the work that was satisfactory. The work he did to fit the door, frame and new threshold were truly awful. Slapped a piece of wood onto the bottom of the door to make it fit the new frame and a lazy sloppy paint job, and then the door would not close correctly. The worker returned another day to fix the door, it closed correctly for maybe a week, then would not close correctly. I asked them to come fix the sloppy paint job and door, the worker returned at night and somehow did an impossibly worse paint job and the door still does not close correctly. They came out a 3rd time, door does not close correctly. I asked them to come fix the job AGAIN, and they insisted I have to pay them now to fix it - a third time - THE DOOR THEY JUST INSTALLED THAT WON'T EVEN CLOSE. That's tops on the list of what I want a door to do ya know? ON top of all this they used wood for the threshold on an exterior door - not metal, and painted it white, so it immediately got destroyed. The trim around the door is already coming apart off the wall, the shoddy threshold is warped and has separated from the ground. It was just not a good job , and the worker was so indignant about how the job was underquoted and how hard it was etc etc. I think it was his own incompetence and they just didn't posses the skills to do the job correctly. If they didn't feel comfortable using the existing door and building the new frame, they should have passed or used a pre hung door. I will never hire them for any work again. And to top things off the worker demanded payment from my wife for the "completed" job while I was away at work - because it took so long to finish I had to leave - she paid them not knowing any better...Everyone lost here , they felt like they didn't get paid enough, I'm not happy with the work and will have to spend more money to get it fixed...ln the end these guys were only a Mighty Headache.
