Our second visit to this restaurant recently left much to be desired. The ambience continues to be cozy and cute, but the food was not impressive at all. We ordered pretty much everything vegetarian on their menu, and nothing was flavorful. The food was extremely boring, bland and underwhelming. So were the cocktails. Bummer, because we were super excited to eat here after our experience last time. Their menu changes seasonally, so we could say this season they just chose the wrong menu items, at least for vegetarians. For appetizers we had some beetroot and yogurt dish, beetroot was just boiled / steamed with no marination or pickling. I can get that at Costco. The roasted carrots again had no interesting spin at all, there was no seasoning. The most disappointing dish was the ravioli with potato stuffing and an onion sauce. I am sure this restaurant has great potential, but it would be nice to put some more thought into the vegetarian options. read more

Every so often someone comes into your life and changes what you think you knew - a new friend at school, a new puppy, perhaps a new clothing item that just makes every day a little better. Your newest personal revelation will come from trying Crafted - the best place we've eaten within a few hundred miles - and one of the top 5 places we've had the pleasure of dining with. A warning- this is one of the longer reviews I've done. The evening was that memorable! We were fortunate to get a peek and taste at a soft opening event. Six of us sat at the chefs counter and got to interact with the guys doing the cooking, bartending and serving. Hearing about where the chefs had come from and how the place had grown out of a catering business really added to the allure of the place. By the end of the evening, it was one of the best culinary experiences we've ever. The ambiance here is as good we we've experienced anywhere. A laid back, left coast vibe runs throughout and the decor is a beautiful melding of contemporary rustic and urban. When combined with the incredible meal, we kept forgetting we weren't in Seattle! The owners are going for "Big city feel, in small town Yakima". They're open Thursday through Monday with two days off per week as "farm days". They get the bulk of the food from local farms and plan to change their menu frequently based on what's available. Now to food! We literally tried everything on the menu except two things. Words that kept coming out were things like, "Beautiful", "Incredible" and "Wow"! Everything we tried was amazing - it was fresh, thoughtful, delicious...basically every adjective we could think of. Big highlights of the evening include the Beet Carpaccio- it may have been the prettiest appetizer we've ever had. The earthy flavor of the beets with a lemon raspberry aioli and fresh berries plays all over your mouth and was nothing short of lovely! The fries smelt was the same way- deconstructed with peppers and a nice sauce, it was lick the plate good. The English pea soup is an absolute must- in part because it's delicious, in part because it was picturesque and in part because it was unique. A detail that should not be missed is the salted chive blossom that come on top. Blossoms are preserved and placed gently on top of the soup - if they served these by the bowl, we'd order them! The chanterelle and grey dove mushroom dish was another treat. The mushrooms were lightly sautéed with a little crunch and served with a light oil and a duck egg. When stirred, it created one of the most delicious and memorable plates we've had in a long time. It was creamy, earthy, savory, crunchy, just marvelous! For dinner, every large plate was awesome. The pork belly was incredible- prepared perfectly and served with some greens that complimented it in ways we'd never thought of! Did you know basil heightens the flavor of pork belly? We do now! The short ribs were a delicious as they were pretty (they were very pretty!) and the octopus was far and away the best we've ever tasted - something we expected to be reserved for the coast. The crab caramelle was another wonder dish with house made noodles delicately hugging the delicious crab in a way only a house made noodle can do! The duck breast was also fabulous and was served with polenta and small bunch of champagne grapes. Presentation, check! Flavor, check! Creativity, check! The most memorable entree of the night was the duck pappardelle - duck, noodles, tomatoes, squash and egg yolk all mixed together in what was probably the most emotion invoking dish I've ever had. It was the least impressive looking dish we had but biting into it was nothing short of of incredible. The brilliant dance of savory, creamy, and noodles, all accented by the duck was as nostalgic as it was delicious. Everyone was reminded of something their mom or grandma had made and as one of our friends described it, "I took a bite and it was like getting a hug!" For dessert, the pavlova was awesome. Crunchy sweet and covered in local berries. The gooseberry sorbet was delicious and had a lovely accent of pineapple weed - a small weed that literally tastes like pineapple! The fried chicken and waffles was a fun take on the classic - maple ice cream with fried chicken sprinkles! The winner for the desserts though was the brownie soufflé- a delicious brownie with ice cream, topped with copper pot caramel- a local favorite! By the end of the evening, we were trying to figure out a time when we wouldn't want to come back. The servers were great, the cooks engaging and the whole experience truly amazing. Throughout the meal, we kept being reminded of different aspects of our favorite places from all over the world. If it wasn't already clear, this is our new favorite spot and one we hope and think will continue to transform the food scene throughout the valley. My son took me here for Mother's Day dinner and the meal was wonderful. The restaurant serves everything family style. We had asparagus with spring onions, a pasta dish with mushrooms and duck egg confit, and pan fried sturgeon. The asparagus was charred served on chive pesto. I can't believe how good it tasted. Each course was so full of many flavors that simultaneously stood out and blended into something special. I don't know the cost because I wasn't buying but it was worth it, whatever it was. My only regret was I didn't have any room for the beautiful desserts I saw other tables getting. Next time I'm in Yakima, I'll go there again. read more

It was seamlessly and effortlessly handled by him and it was some of the best food and drinks all of us have ever had. He topped it off with offering to take our picture. We got into town later than expected and picked Crafted purely out of convenience--in walking distance from our accommodations and open later than any other option. BOY AM I GLAD WE LUCKED INTO THIS PLACE!!! At first I had no idea what I was in for. After hours of travel I wanted a Bloody Mary--and upon asking for one, I was delicately and gently informed that it was not an option. So I started with neat vodka--that was fine--and then the culinary adventure began! Not knowing how special this place is--we tried to make sense of the menu--it didn't seem to be arranged in the typical appetizer/entree format. We were coached through the concept, order a couple to a few items and share them--perfect! I honestly can't remember the name of the first thing we had, but I had to google a culinary term for it and it was basically firm fleshed fish, served raw with a sauce--amazingly good! (I'm usually a fan of sashimi, and this was excellently executed--a preview of what we were in for.) The Brussel sprouts--which I'm also generally a fan of and cook myself quite often--were divine, with the perfect amount of bacon! The duck was quite good, perhaps the best duck I can remember having in the last ten years. It...was...epic. The steak was great, but wow the pear cake desert with perfectly offset espresso made it complete. My God this place was amazing. This is a must-visit for Yakima! 4.5 stars: I came here for my 1 year anniversary with my boyfriend and I have enjoyed my experience here! I forgot my server's name but she was very friendly helpful and attentive. Oysters were not bad at all. Can't expect freshness in a landlocked area but quality was certainly the best I've seen out of Yakima. The Cavatelli with wild king salmon had perfectly cooked pasta but the salmon seemed a tad raw to me. Steak frites and the cheesecake bombe I highly recommend! Those were delicious! be sure to tell your server how you want your steak because it will come out rare if you don't specify. I'm glad to see a restaurant like crafted to be in Yakima! This is my 2nd visit to Crafted and I am very happy with their eclectic menu. It changes frequently, which I also appreciate, and challenges you to step outside your comfort zone. Today I had the Roasted Carrots and Tagliatelle Pasta. The carrots were amazing, the pasta was light and refreshing but could have used a little more spice. Had a great experience at Crafted. Service was great and the food came out super quick and was tasty. Started off with the Beets on Beets on Beets (Beets 4 ways). The dish was beautiful like a work of art. Flavor-wise, this was probably the least interesting of the dishes we had. The bone-marrow with mushrooms was up next and the umami of the marrow coated the mushrooms for a flavor-packed punch. The only improvement I would suggest to Crafted is to toast the bread. For the mains, we got the halibut & korean rice cakes and the scallops with risotto. The halibut & korean rice cakes was so interesting. Usually you think of halibut as a very delicate fish but it stood up to the powerful flavors of the gochujang. The scallops were also perfectly cooked. We finished the night with the ice cream cake filled with reeses, kit kats, etc and it was super fun. Would definitely recommend stopping in if you're in Yakima. read more

I finally had the chance to eat here and I was in no way disappointed the pork was extremely juicy and flavorful and the mushroom and squash was killer. The meal is family style which means you share the plates versus ordering your own separate meal. I love this style because it's like eating dinner at home. We also got the campfire s'mores that came encased with smoke and it smelled exactly like a campfire which is seriously one of my favorite things in the entire world. I won't go into great detail about how the staff went above and beyond to make my experience even better than I could ever imagine. We really really liked it. The Moscow mule was 10 out of 10. We got the Brussels sprouts, bread, scallops, and flank steak. Brussels were awesome and flavorful. The scallops were Nate's favorite. The flank steak was Korean inspired and honestly the beef was the best I've had in a while. I love the fact that the chefs choose to source locally as much as possible. Everything tasted fresh! Oh my gosh, where to begin! I have had dinner at Crafted twice now and each time is a unique and lovely experience. The menu changes and while I love every dish I have had I look forward to the new items as everything is so unique and flavorful. The team is so creative in putting together ingredients and flavors I would never make on my own. I would recommend the chefs menu if you are open to it or choose a handful of dishes to share with your table on your own. My current favs are the crispy rice (the second rendition of crispy rice I have had on their menu), tuna crudo, the burrata with bacon jam (yum), heirloom tomatoes.. to name a few :) read more

One of the nicest dining experiences I have ever had! My parents recently relocated to Yakima and took us out here during a recent visit. It was outstanding! From the ambiance of the place...gorgeous but not stuffy... to the amazing service...the wonderful cocktails and wine list... and the incredible food! This was a memorable dinner! Worth. Every. Penny. Crafted is the sort of creative eatery that allows you to show up however you are- dressed to the nines or tshirt and baseball cap- and experience something extraordinary. Their food is exciting but their menu and staff aren't at all pretentious. This is the second time I've been to Crafted. Wanted to show my parents there's options besides Powerhouse Grill :-D I am mostly vegan (social vegetarian) and when I mentioned this to the waiter, he had the chef curate a vegan menu for me. I left the "main dish" up to the chef and was brought a beet gnocchi with dried seaweed and sesame. It had a strange name (sorry, I can't remember it right now) that was surprising and stunning. My mom said the gnocchi reminded her of gummy bears. She doesn't like beets, but it wasn't heavily "beet" flavored. Fantastic chewy texture, I have never had anything like it. I also had the broccolini. Others at the table had the rib eye, the duck, and the roast potatoes (the last of which I can say are phenomenal). We tried just about every cocktail on the menu between the four of us and they were all winners in their own right. Mom asked if they could make a chocolate martini, which they stated they could not, but I'd rather they tell us that than "try it" and have us pay for a poor attempt. It feels like they know they're providing you with an experience, not a meal, and if they can't do it right, they're not going to do it at all. We also had dessert- which I NEVER spring for, but I couldn't pass it up. We tried the red velvet - I don't like cake, but it was amazing, particularly with the hazelnuts and chocolate straws- and the Loliki (sp?) Charlotte, a coconut-lemon dream that took me back to Hawaii. Lastly, my mom got a decaf coffee and they brought it out so. cutely. My friend and I felt like trying out a new restaurant in downtown Yakima so we went to Crafted and we were definitely impressed at arriving! We had brioche bread as a appetizer and it was so buttery and soft but crunchy on the outside. For entrees I had a type of pasta which was a fancier take on spaghetti! It had lamb, hazelnuts (or macadamias, not too sure) and it was so delicious. It was very nutty which was an interest taste on a spaghetti dish but delicious nonetheless I noticed they had an espresso machine next to the bar so I asked if I could get some coffee. I'm a self proclaimed coffee snob so I had high expectations for my coffee. I knew they used Basalt roasters, a local coffee roaster here in Yakima so I was really excited because I love Basalt! HOWEVER, as I watched them make my drink I saw that they were using pre-grounded coffee beans to make my pour over. They already have a really nice grinder so why use pre grounded coffee? That makes brewed coffee taste bland and stale. The coffee was ok. It has the capability to be better. The coffee didn't taste fresh. It wasn't aromatic like I except good coffee to be. But that's ok. I'm not going to drop a star just for a cup of coffee. I really loved this place! read more

On the 8th day, God created Crafted! It's unlike any other dining experience you'll ever have: farm to table with local, seasonal ingredients. The menu literally changes from week to week and the dishes are all unique and pair together flavorings that I never would have imagined. Don't get sticker shock...it might seem a little expensive when you look at the menu, but I would gladly pay 2-3 times their asking price for the opportunity to have these types of items. Bar is also top notch with a wide selection and some great local flavors. This is our all-time favorite restaurant anywhere we have been in the WORLD. Good splurge spot. Hubby and I had a 5:30 reservation and were greeted and seated promptly. The ambience is lovely: minimal decor with neutral greys. Our server, Meg, was friendly and attentive and explained the menu and options. Food was solidly above average - we did the CHEF MENU because why not see what surprises the chef might have in store? 1st course: cheese platter with figs (bit odd to have that first - I'm used to that as more of a meal ending): the sourdough bread was lovely, the figs were sweet and ripe and one of the cheeses was lovely, but the cheddar blue was too strong as a starter and didn't sit well in a heretofore empty tum. The presentation was lovely and it was fun to try once, but we wouldn't order it again. But if you love figs and strong cheese - you'll love it. 2nd Course: heirloom melon salad. YUM!!! Really lovely blend of flavors here with the arugula, feta, baby tomatoes and three different melons. Would definitely order this again. Hubby's not huge on salads but liked it as well. 3rd Course: grilled peppers with feta, cilantro, and lime. Meh. It was a big bowl of roasted green peppers - neither of us was thrilled with it. It felt like it should be a tiny side not a Course. We didn't finish it and wouldn't order it again. Least favorite dish of the night. 4th Course: pork belly. DELICIOUS! Tender, flavorful....would highly recommend. 5th Course: skirt steak with vinegar potatoes. The potatoes were perfect: salty but not too salty, tender, and just a little tangy. The steak had great flavor, but the some pieces were too rare for me, I'm a medium rare girl myself so the cool red center put me off. My hubby likes rare meat, but he ended up leaving some on his plate as well. Taste profile was great and we would order it again but with an emphasis on MEDIUM rare. 6th Course: short ribs with polenta and tasty sauce, emphasis on tasty sauce! The polenta was nice and creamy the sauce was delicious and the short ribs were good but just a tad dry. I would do this one again. 7th Course: dessert - a perfect panna cotta with flecks of vanilla bean throughout and a lovely complement of bourbon cherries on top. I'd go back just for this. Creamy, sweet but light, it was a great finish. Overall, a really good experience. Be aware that the dining room gets pretty loud as they fill up so if you're looking for whispering romance go early or request a corner seat in the back. With two non-alcoholic drinks and the chef's menu our bill came to $133 so for us a splurge. If you order off the menu and share you could still have a great meal for a great deal less. Most of the chefs menu was off the regular menu, which was a bit of a bummer because we were hoping for a surprise. However, with all the courses that came with it, it was a great way to see what Crafted can do, and we will be back to try some more dishes soon! read more

We were in Yakima overnight and were thrilled to find a restaurant as exciting as Crafted. This relatively new restaurant has an interesting and exciting menu. Their concept is a variation on the "small plates to share" idea. Instead of offering only small items to share, all the items are brought out prepared so that they can be shared. For example the pork chop comes out beautifully presented with some greens and accompanying roasted fruit sliced so that it can be shared. After reading the prior reviews and looking over the menu we decided to have the Chef's Choice dinner. Not only was it a bit less expensive than individually ordering the same items off the menu, but it gave us a chance to sample the items that the chef wanted to share that night. I started with a smoked negroni cocktail which came under a glass dome filled with hickory smoke. The smoke added a nice note to the drink. My wife enjoyed the co-pilot cocktail made with cognac, elderflower, orange liqueur, and lemon. She reported that it was a good combination. We started off with oysters with a pleasant mignonette. We had additional courses of green beans, pasta carbonara, salad, weathervane scallops and pork belly (YUM), a pork chop, and a yummy watermelon ice cream with ginger notes and a drizzle of chili oil. Each of the courses was great on its own right. We noted that they made heavy use of local fruits in season as elements in many of the dishes. Roasted, pickled, sauted and other preparations of fruit really added to the experience. We also had a great server who was unfailingly pleasant, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu and the food. Not a cheap meal if you do the whole Chef's Menu, but one could eat for less by eating a la carte. We left full and satisfied, but not over stuffed. If you are in Yakima this is definitely worth a stop. read more

This place is FANTASTIC. The food is locally sourced and so fresh! Unique combinations in their sauces, and everything we tried was great. From the steak to the scallops (had them twice in two days) the sides were great, too. Broccolini and cauliflower were excellent. One of the favorite parts for us was the overall experience. The way the restaurant is laid out, there are 6 barstools overlooking the chefs, mostly the pastry chefs. Watching them create the desserts was insane. Didn't want to leave. Homemade marshmallows in the shape of a campfire with hard pastry making the "logs", they then put it under a glass cover and pumped smoke into it. SO COOL! Treat for the eyes and the palette. Great wine list, too. I'd highly recommend Crafted as one of the top restaurants in Washington! Hands down. read more
