I came here today with my coworkers. I must have to say that inside the restaurant was beautiful. I love the high ceilings and all the exposed wood. This is definitely a nice place you can hang out with your friends. Food wise I ordered the ahi poke bowl the presentation was stunning but taste wise it was so-so. And it was almost $20 it was quite pricey for a poke bowl. But their bugers and sandwiches look amazing. The service was quite slow despite that it wasn't very busy. This place is huge and lively. We went around 6 pm on a Saturday. Luckily, they had just opened their upstairs mezzanine area so we only had to wait 15 mins (They don't take reservations). They have a wide range of beers, as well as a beer flight. I order a strawberry flavored wheat beer which was good. The poutine was average, I wouldn't get it again. I ordered the grilled cheese with bacon and a side of Mac and cheese with bacon. The Mac and cheese was again average and I wouldn't order it again. It was lacking flavor. The grilled cheese was good but I almost wish it was cheesier. I did enjoy the toasted bread. I'd recommend coming here for the beer and to enjoy the atmosphere! I used to love Craft Beer Market; my last visit was only so-so. They have these Korean lettuce wraps that I obsess over between visits. I can't get over how good they are. They are the exact right combo of crisp lettuce, sticky rice, salty meat, pickled veg, and gochujang. The server told me they weren't serving these right now because they were out of butter lettuce. I ordered a poke bowl instead, and it was kind of a letdown. There was a huge volume of dry, unseasoned, long grain rice (not sushi rice). Then to drown my sorrows, I tried to order a flight of beer, but they only have pre-set flights now. The server explained to me that they used to do flights (I know; I used to order a flight with my lettuce wraps), but it was too hard to pour and serve flights accurately. Augustine's is also enormous and also has a huge beer list, and they manage to get flights right. I'm not sure the pre-set flights were a step in the right direction. Anyway, I'm not into sours, even though they're kind of having a moment right now, and both pre-set flights included sours. I'm also kind of a lightweight, which meant that I could order a maximum of two beers. So I only got to try two beers from their, admittedly amazing, beer menu. I wish I could have investigated the amazing beer menu further; it frankly would have saved my overall experience. The seating situation is actually quite good considering the huge space and the fact that they tried to pack so many people in it. The service has always been good. Firstly, the beer list is good and there are often special unique ones on rotation. The food has been decent. The mezza platter is quite good; especially the avocado toast. The squash ravioli was really good. The various healthy bowls keep the options fresh. The steak frite was okay. They really overcook your steak. We got beer and poutine during happy hour and was satisfied with it all. Poutine had a good tasting gravy and a good amount of cheese curds. One downside with a little baby in tote is their front door isn't stroller accessible. Also, no changing table in the bathrooms. This place had solid beer selections! After a long day of driving across Seattle to Vancouver this was a really cool and relaxing place to end up at the end of the day. I especially liked the ciders they had available. I ordered the bolognese and it was very tasty. It had a really great meaty sauce and the pasta was just firm enough! Lack of customer service from the servers, managers and the general manager. Received a cash voucher that was to be used as cash. The voucher literally says "treat it as cash". Unfortunately, we were denied by the server and manager. The manager was unable to provide an acceptable explanation on why we cannot use the voucher with the birthday discount. Why does the voucher say treat it as cash if the company won't treat it as cash but more like a discount. Also, they stated that they did us a great service by providing us with the birthday discount on my attendee's meal. Unfortunately, he was on diary-free diet, which was explained to the servers. We just made sure they did their job right and they thought they were doing us a favour. The quality of service seems to drop once they know how much you are planning to spend. After the order, no one came to check on us until we requested for the take out box and bill. To them, small order = small tip (percentage wise), which translates to no attention needed I'm sure that this is a one off but the attitude of the staff could be improved. read more

A plethora of mediocrity. Been here a few times now and disappointed every time. Honestly, give it 1.5, but I'm being generous and rounding up to 2, instead of down to 1. Explanation... Food: never been impressed. Today, I asked what they recommended... "the brewmaster sandwich is probably the best thing on our menu", okay, I'll order that... bland, flavourless, disappointing. Beer: I'm a beer snob (and rater) so take this with a grain of salt, but I've tried 80%+ of the beers on tap (not at this establishment) and I've rated nothing over a 70% (on average my ratings of their beers are approx 58% quality - a C-). Of the beers I've not tried, I look up the ratings of my peers and again see low quality beers. Everything is very "pedestrian". They have a large selection, but they literally do NOT have a SINGLE GOOD BEER! Have at least one tap dedicated to special limited release beers... also, flights are pre-determined and extremely lacklustre (no create your own flights) Service: friendly, but completely lacking in product knowledge. Example: I asked what was on the menu for their flights; the bartender gave me a menu and as he gave it to me, said "most of the world tour flight is from Europe". I looked at 1/6 beers were from Europe, 4/6 from USA, and 1/6 from Japan. It clearly states this and yet the bartender could not even be bothered to read their menu. Demonstrates horrible product knowledge... Conclusion: this is probably the last time I bother trying to come here of my own accord. Even if a friend plans something here, I will likely try to dissuade them from going. What would make me change my mind? First and foremost, being able to choose my own flights or small pours (there are beers I wouldn't mind trying even though I know I won't really like them, but it is a waste of money to be forced to buy a whole glass of something I likely won't enjoy much). And better product knowledge from staff (hire a cicerone to train these people because, for a supposed beer place, they know little to nothing about beer). read more

THE BEER: With a plethora of beers to choose from, there was something for everybody during my visit here. Even for non-beer drinkers like me! I tried my husband's sampler of Canadian beers and I was surprised to find most of them interesting and on the more pleasant side. I would highly recommend these as they are a good selection. My favourite was the "Steamworks Community Brew: Kitchen Goes Mad". It was tart, salty and zesty and an aftertaste that was not beer-like at all! The actual beer drinkers in the group were not particular to it. From the picture of the menu it looks like this particular list was for a limited time. Maybe they change it up frequently? THE FOOD: My group also shared a poutine and some buffalo wings. The food items were tasty but the portions were small. The wings were teeny as well. There was also a highball special for $5 so I ordered a gin and tonic and unfortunately it tasted watered down. Best to stick with their beers. Also, a friend let me know that they'll give you a discount on your birthday with the % being the age you were turning. I really enjoyed this place. It is a really pretty space- I don't know why but the inside embodies Canada, in my head. Maybe it's the large space and the wood countertops. The inside had high ceilings. It just felt airy and a contemporary space. The server was pretty nice. I really enjoyed their $10 tasting where you can get their local beer. Not only do they have a great local after work happy hour hangout, but a massive beer on tap selection and some delicious food items like their sushi burger! I love how my fav hangouts always seem to have the best events! Last night we had the chance of attending our first Brewmaster's Dinner. Yesterdays was the very first Gluten Free & Cider Pairing for their Summer Patio Series with BC Tree Fruits Cider paired with each dish! Now to last nights dinner! Here's what we had; Welcome - Rosé Cider with a Fanny Bay oyster in garlic, spinach and hollandaise - at first I was caught off guard that the oyster was warm rather than my usual chilled raw oysters, but it was delicious! I may have stole my dates too! First Course - Plum Basil Cider with Pickled Vegetables with a mini side green salad with apple cider mustard seed vinaigrette - Mmm i'm obsessed with picked veg so this was up my alley once again! My fav cider of course, that Plum Basil was my favorite at this years BC Cider Festival!!! Couldn't wait to get my hands on it again! Second Course - Apple Cider with Crab Salad on a sweet pea purée - This crab salad was delicious, chilled and crisp, perfect for the weather, love the purée as well, very nice pairing. Third Course - Apple & Hops Cider with Herb Salmon on a bed of cumin scented rice with grilled green onions - delicious, I'm not usually a big fan of cooked salmon but I absolutely loved this dish and would order it off the menu, the rice was soooo good and the mix of everything on the plate was perfect! Well done! Dessert - Pears & Peaches Cider with a warm brie covered with peach and apple chutney and drunken pecans - This was delicious, I'm a big brie fan, a little heavy to end the night, but a nice combo. Overall the experience seemed very intimate but also social. We got comfortable and met our neighbours sitting at the long tables and it was really enjoyable! There was more than enough cider to go around, we felt awful that we actually left a full glass each by the end of the night! I'm used to attending all included dinners where I'd love another half glass of my favorite, but this event had more than enough for everyone! Not to mention it was delicious, we all had our favs as well! The food was amazing, it was light and a great dish for summer, I like to keep it cold when it's as hot as it was last night. I went here on a busy Saturday night, had to wait 30 minutes for a table with a group of 5 but thats not a big deal. Our server was okay, however, when she brought over two beer flights on the same tray, she accidentally dropped one completely all over me. My jacket, pants and purse got drenched. I don't think she noticed that it had hit me until she noticed my boyfriend (who also got wet) grabbing napkins. She then apologized and grabbed a few more napkins. She gave me the one flight that she managed to save and didn't fall on me. It still had spilt a bit so the beers weren't as full as they should have been and they were sitting in beer, so every time you picked one up it would drip all over. When the bill came she just apologized again but nothing was taken off, nor was there a discount added. While I am not looking for a handout, getting completely soaked in beer and then drinking half full drinks is not okay. While accidents happen, I just think this could have been handled differently. The portions of the appetizers could be a little bit bigger considering they're almost the same price as the rest of the menu, you can't even share the fast food sushi for example. This place is always busy with huge lineups so i decided to go during their off-time, which was around 3pm on a Tuesday. I will say two things: 1. The food was horrible. 2. I was not impressed with their beer selection even though they have hundreds. This place would only be good for a big group and the outdoor patio in the summer. Even for these reasons, I would not go back. For appy, we ordered: Ahi Tuna Poke and Crab Cake Sliders. The Ahi Tuna Poke was the worst tuna dish I have ever had. EVER! First of all, the portion was insanely small - I think there was about 5-7 very small cubes of tuna mixed with cubes of cucumber with some bland tasting sauce. The worst of all was that the tuna was fishy, I could not eat more after one bite. With $14 a plate, they should do way better. WAY BETTER. They should just remove this from the menu. Actually, they should change up the entire menu completely. I think the whole menu was overpriced with not much choice for us to choose from. I haven't tried their entrees but seeing how the appy was, I would not order food there again. Since the Ahi Tuna was unedible, we asked our server to change our dish to Fast Food Sushi because it sounded interesting. When we got it, it was basically some ground beef and a piece of potato wrapped in bacon and was deep fried. This was not good. The sauce that was on the plate was very bland and fell flat and tasted cheap. I thought this kind of big establishment would have half decent food at least. At least there would be some standard and direction for the good they serve. I was wrong. As for the beer, we ordered a flight. When it came out, it was only filled to about 3/4 which was unacceptable to me. I thought there was nothing special about their beer menu- the selection just makes it confusing to choose. When i asked a specific question to our server about the type of beer i was looking for, she had no knowledge about the beer and could not help me at all. I ended up just choosing something that sounded similar to what i was looking for and it was very disappointing. I would go to Brassneck Brewery any day. Or any local breweries or bars like Biercraft. The bill came up to $50 for 2 appys, 1 flight and 1 beer on tap. Completely overpriced with no real value. They have a great variety of beer, there's no denying that. I had several great beers from here in the two days we came. The service at the bar both times is severely lacking. They clearly need to hire more bartenders to accommodate everyone, or pay more attention to their customers. The first time we ordered food, and my grilled cheese was very burnt, I didn't like the way the bartender handled it, but at least he sent a manager over ten minutes later. It took him a while to check on us, so I was kinda forced to eat it at first, and when he finally did check on us I was almost done with it. When our bill came, I was charged for two grilled cheeses. Yelp's "A-Ok" (3 stars) sums it up nicely. Am I pleased something preserved one of the last buildings Vancouver hasn't sought to erase from history? Yes. Is this better than the public space it was before for events? I'm not sure but it does get used and seems popular. At first I was wondering why bother when Tap and Barrel has better views and seems to cover the same territory but they seem to co-exist. I'm not a huge beer drinker so 10 varieties is equal to 100 but for those into that, this place has that going for it. The food and service are actually not bad. As my friend said "Not gastropub fare" but I've had the food here twice and feel it is a minor notch above standard pub food. The veggie sandwich was almost gastropub actually,.. it surprised me. I think the prices are about what you'd expect. More than I'd like to pay,.. but name a place that isn't like that and I'd have to say the menu is better than T&B for "meals" - but nothing is particularly healthy. One big complaint I have comes as the price of having the high exposed ceilings that are really a nice feature to showcase the old building: acoustics. This place was so awesome! It's HUGE, and has lots of great indoor and outdoor seating. I came on a Monday and my boyfriend and I got $9 flights of beer for all day happy hour. There were 6 4oz beers, so I feel like that's a good deal. I liked some beers more than the others, particularly the sours, but they definitely had a large variety so you can easily find what you like. CBM is nothing short of an event. Firstly it is Huuuuuuuge. I mean this must be the largest square footage for a restaurant in Vancouver. This is the historic Salt building. A palatial cavern of a space with high wood beams and light reflecting off countless joints and pipes filled with beer heading to casks. The place is mind boggling. And, although I'm late to the game, I was super excited to finally have a chance to eat here. I felt confident about the gluten free selections on the menu and the server was really helpful, although I have to say that I feel they could just dedicate a fryer to non flour items, so we glutoids could enjoy those scrumptious looking fries. Heck, they could even add a few deep fried items like corn floured onion rings and maybe some G-free wings at that point. I ate a steak and I loved every juicy morsel of it, but the desserts are just pure torture for us gluten free, dairy intolerant peeps. This is a fantastically large space that made me feel safe during COVID. I am always very appreciative when the staff wear masks for consideration of their own health, and the health of others. I am not a beer person, but at Craft you will definitely be able to find something that suits your taste as they have a massive selection of beers that is unparalleled. There is a variety of food, however the menu here may not be the best if you are trying to find something vegan as there is only 1 or 2 options. However, the food is very delicious. The space itself is awesome but I'm sure it gets suuuuper loud which these days I can't say I'm into, but hey it's a beer hall, so it would definitely be a fun place to go on a weekend with a big group and get drunk without talking to anyone on any deep level if that's your bag. They have a lot of draft beer is available, which was great for a beer lover. I ordered a flight of six local beer samples each about 4 ounces for $11.95. We gave Craft a second chance, after a less-than-ideal night. This time, the whole staff came through and served up a great night! Kevin (GM) arranged for us to come in and threw in a nice bottle of wine to get us started. Nicole and Ellie were awesome servers - friendly, funny, super attentive, and everything you'd want for a dine-in service experience. Taylor, the manager that we had the last time we were in, came by and acknowledged that things could have better the last time, and he helped make things right for us. The food and drinks were great!
