I am going to assume the studio is nice and this review in no way reflects the studio. However, I would discourage anyone from ordering a gift card from this business until they get some things straightened out. Because I am going to be traveling, and I live in another state, I ordered the gift card early and indicated on the website that I wanted it to be delivered just before Christmas, on December 23rd. It was delivered on November 19th. As if that wasn't bad enough, the contents of the card were displayed on the subject line of the email. So, even with a warning not to open it until Christmas, she already knows what the gift is. I did receive an apology with the assurance that the recipient would enjoy the gift. I'm sure she will enjoy the experience. She will not enjoy it as a Christmas gift, which was the whole idea. They were very responsive and I appreciate that. This is a helpless frustration. I can't take the gift back because she's already received it. A donation to Empty Bowls was made on behalf of the recipient. I'm glad they support that organization and this experience alone wouldn't be a deal breaker. read more

Very cute place for painting. There is an $8 fee for supplies and then the prices for the things you can paint range from $8- $60ish. Most are $15-$25 from what I noticed. There was a wide range of paint colors, and I loved using the mosquitos for details on my project. They played good music and the staff was nice. Came for a sister date on a Friday during the mid morning time. It wasn't busy. The facility in the restrooms were clean and they were sanitizer everywhere which was nice. They do have the mask rules enforced. The staff was really friendly they helped us understand how it works since it was our first time. It's so hard to choose one item to paint that's why I went back for my birthday! I didn't think it was gonna take long to paint something but it definitely took us more than two hours. It was really nice and relaxing to paint. The choice of music was nice too. For my birthday I invited some friends and we gathered any room to ourselves to paint it was a two hour package $25 down. I will definitely do this again it was a blast. If you have a few to paint plus the item you choose to paint. So we dropped by to paint some pottery (surprise?) last week. Namely, a plate for my sister in law (belated wedding gift) and a bowl, also for her. She wanted a "green bowl" which is what my lovely Husband painted. It's a bit cold in the store/studio, so take a coat you don't mind getting paint on (though the paint does seem to come out of fabric okay). The girls were friendly, helpful, and not-in-your-face about anything. They have bottled/canned beverages on site for purchase, and plenty of idea books to help you out with your painting. We rather enjoyed it. ;) They also have glass fusing, which turned out to be a ton of fun when I returned later in the week with more friend and family in tow. When else are you encouraged to play with broken glass? And to BREAK it (with purpose?)? $8 studio fee, plus the cost of the ceramic or project of your choice. That includes the studio time, paint, expert (ish? Oh well, they are friendly!) glazing and firing. They have plenty of stuff to chose from...and will customize most things (want to make a light shaped like a football with your favorite team's logo/mascot/name cut out of it to let light out? Or a customized jack-o-lantern lamp with your (or your kids) name cut out?) Or if you're on the home improvement train... maybe a new bathroom sink?! They've got it. Have fun! Go here if you want an amazing experience. We have been here many times over the years, but this time was a bit different than others. We were enjoying watching the kids paint their pottery when we got an update that a fire was spreading over to Louisville. We didn't know the extent of the fire at the time, but the girl we spoke with could see the terror in my face and let us leave with just a phone number and trust that we would come back. A few days later, the owner called us and left the sweetest voicemail checking in on how we were holding up. I didn't call back in, but decided to go back down there to provide my kids with some normalcy during the chaos. At the end they comp'd our pottery and sitting fees and wished us well. This was a very generous and thoughtful gesture and we surely appreciate it. read more

I was looking for a fun team building activity for my employees and unfortunately there isn't much in Greeley to do. A friend suggested Crackpots and I am so happy we went here. They have a HUGE selection of pottery to choose from and the price overall for what you get is very reasonable. The staff was super friendly and helpful to everyone. When I went to pick up our masterpieces, my fiance came with and he was intrigued and said he wanted to come back for a session. That is a big deal because he never does anything like this. I've painted pottery several times and I'd have to say that Crackpots was my favorite experience! We went for a 'date night' on a Saturday and after 6pm they have a special where you get two studio fees for the price of one (saved $8!). They have a great selection of pottery to choose from - we chose a couple different kitchen items but I LOVE the idea of painting some fun holiday decorations or ornaments. So much fun. I'm picking up our pottery today and I can't wait to see how it turned out! I think I'm going to try to plan a Girl's Night Out and come to Crackpots. The *ONLY* thing that might have made it better is if they had their liquor license and we could have enjoyed some wine! Everything is better with wine :) read more

Despite the fact that I am the least artistic person you'd ever meet (with an artistic ability to match) I love Crack Pots. They have such a great variety of pottery to choose from (which includes an array of holiday friendly knick knacks as well plenty of kitchen essentials that I am currently collecting) so there's something for everyone (my dad even loves going!) What sets Crackpots aside from the the Color Me Mine chain is the price (with sitting fees just a hair less) but also the staff. I can only speak for the Boulder location of Color Me Mine, but I generally found the Crackpots team to be more helpful and friendly but they also gave us more room to breath with our pottery. They also have birthday parties as well as summer camp options for your kiddos. Whether you have kids are are one at heart, go! Create! read more

My friend and I walked in to try this place out. The staff was very helpful- not at all pushy. We decided to try making glass projects. There was an $8 fee for adults (which covers up to 3 projects I was told) plus the price of whatever you decide to do. Everything was marked with prices which were very reasonable. The staff walked us through the process since we had never worked with glass before. There were so many options and an abundance of material to work with. They have so many adorable samples on display. As for the pottery painting, again a great selection of pieces at various price ranges to choose from. Lots of different brushes and paints too. The palates are the cutest tiles laid out on all the tables. It was easy and almost therapeutic. We sat by the window and took our time, enjoying the day and our artwork. We had a very unpleasant experience here. Staff was very unhelpful and didn't answer questions , process was unnecessarily slow. When we finally were up to pay (after about 10 minutes waiting in line while the cashier chatted with someone) staff was very rude and threw my receipt at me. Will not be going back. What a great place this is. I've never seen a business model like this before but I also don't do any pottery until now so kudos for being unique. My mother and I had so much fun spending the afternoon making some bowls and a platter and they actually came out really nice! Came here with my younger daughter yesterday. The rest of the fam went to the Rockies game, but we decided to skip out. Great decision! With temperatures flaring outside, we were in the cool comfort of crackpots. My daughter chose a salt and pepper shaker to decorate as a gift for her grandparents whom we are staying with. She probably spent an hour and a half decorating them - but not to worry there is a standard $8 fee for your studio time. I probably would have paid that much just to stay out of the heat! It was such a cute place and so well organized. If we lived here, we would be regulars. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Her pieces won't be ready till Friday, so grandpa will have to pick them up for us. But that's the only drawback. read more

My mom surprised me by taking me to Crackpots to get a necklace made of silver that was made of my daughter's finger print! The experience was a lot of fun, they were patient with my 18 month old and my necklace turned out so wonderful! Very lucky to have such a lovely keepsake for years to come! read more

It's really fun, be careful it takes a lot longer to paint a medium sized gnome then you would think it would. I believe it was 2 or 3 hours. But it felt like it was 30 minutes. Don't go here if you don't have a couple hours. I love our little gnomes. read more

As an 11 year old, I thought it was super fun, though my grandma got a little stressed when it was hard to paint the fairy house lantern. I love the colorful setting and I love all of the options of what there is to paint for every day, or a holiday. My only problem is that it was a lot of money. First, you have to pay the studio fee, for adults, that's 8 dollars, for kids, 7. That is per person, so for two adults it would be 8+8=16. And then you had to pay for whatever you were going to paint, which can range anywhere from 4-70 dollars. read more

My family and I totally love this place for special events. I have brought two different Girl Scout troops here to earn their pottery badges as well as many family birthday parties where the child (ages 11-19) wanted to "Paint" for their gift. Some people have mentioned in the reviews that the place is "pricy" but I would gently like to remind folks that the variety of paints, stencils, firing and glazes are all stored for you there. The cost of purchasing all the items you would need for these creations is inexpensive for what you get. I used to have a pottery class at a local community college in southern Missouri and Crackpots is amazing for the price. Can't say enough wonderful stuff about this place. Seeing a recent Yelp Blog about Crackpot aka crockpot recipes it reminded of this place Crackpots located in Longmont, while the name does sound astounding and makes you wonder, wonder no more, this is a cool place, myself and my wife visited here a few years ago like three years ago we scheduled a date night so they call it at the place where me and my wife would spend about two glorious hours picking out a piece of ceramic that you can paint they provide all the brushes, sponges, rags, sinks, aprons etc for your use, you find your hearts desire and paint away, we chose piggy banks for our new born daughter, it was a fun night, this really is a neat idea for a business. Anyhow after you paint the item you hand it over to the employee and they give you a date to come back and pick up your piece after it is hard fired in a pottery kiln. The product in a finished state is really cool, and what you have is a memory for a lifetime. It is a neat place to take kids who are I would say in the age of about 4 on up. Check it out. read more
