My husband have been wanting to try this place after hearing they have gator tails. We had clam chowder, gator basket, and a catfish sandwich. Clam chowder was average it needed salt and a lot of pepper, tasted better once added. Gator tail was good, different texture from the Everglades gator we're use to. Catfish was the best catfish I have had! Cooked perfectly tender, and just delicious! Hush puppies weren't good it was huge and flavorless. Not sweet and soft like the ones we're use to. Service was just ok, didn't really go over anything. But an overall great experience we will be back again! read more

This place is outstanding. Traditional Cajun / southern cuisine with the right atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and the food was very good. We started with friend okra, which was spot on, and then got an array of Cajun dishes. I had the andouille sausage with Cajun shrimp on dirty rice and it was awesome. They bring an incredible amount of sharable food to go with the entrees as well. Everything from cinnamon apples, collards, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and muffins and so on. We can only tell you to go there and order the fried chicken as all members of our party ordered just that. One of the best we've ever had! Comes with multiple sides from mashed potatoes to beans as much as you want. Worth the trip. read more

Monday, October 31,2022 I took my 90 year old mother to lunch at Cracklin Jacks after a doctors appointment. Having been there many times in the past years and had enjoyed the experience & food. But on this visit was very disappointed, did not have a good experience nor was the food good. First of all the restaurant was not ADA accessible for inside dinning. Nothing about this restaurant is ADA friendly, even outside dining was hard to move a wheelchair around due to over crowded tables. Plus the ramp was way to steep for pushing a wheelchair up. Our server was good & pleasant but she seemed to be frustrated. The food was nothing to rave about or make me come back for; the fries were just frozen fries heated up. My pulled pork was very wet which made my bun soggy! The water tasted as if it came out of lines with mold or maybe the ice maker has mold. This place must have changed hands in the last year because it is not the same place my husband & I used to enjoy. Oh, couple other things the inside of dinning room had supplies or stuff piled up, looked like a storage over flow. Secondly, while dinning outside the men's bathroom door was being left open & we had to look at the urinal & smell the odor from the bathroom. I got up a few times & closed the door. Also outside dinning came with cats everywhere looking for food. I love animals but I don't want them around pegging while I am eating. There are way to many other great places to eat in Naples then to waste time & money eating at this second rate restaurant. read more

This is what Southern down home, country cooking, is all about. Fresh food, perfectly cooked, in large quantities. My husband had the catfish, which he enjoyed. I had the two meat choice options of ribs and beef. Their BBQ is very, very good. All sides were cooked perfectly and we took a lot home. You need to go hungry and save room for their desserts. Food is great! Service is terrible... This is from the perspective of someone who mostly orders food using, UberEats, BiteSquad, etc. I've had problems ordering from this restaurant in the past, but I've never bothered to write about it. Had my last 3 or 4 orders there cancelled because they just decide to not take them at random even when they're listed as open. They finally acted on an order and they were missing an entree. They said they put two orders in one box, but unless the portions got cut down to 1.5 pieces from 3 I'm sure they were missing it. On top of that the breading they use was changed on this order. Despite some of the reviews, came with an open mind and left with a full belly! It looks kinda like a little shack off the road, but don't let that fool you, they are pros at the country dinner game. The service is really family style, the hostess was a little crabby but our server was sweet. We ordered the pick two seafood options of fried clams and catfish, as well as the brisket. Meals came with coleslaw, white beans, mashed potatoes, collard greens, stewed tomatoes, gravy, pickles and cornbread, all of which were great! And wowwww the brisket has to be the most tender smokey brisket I have ever had, so worth it! Catfish was also flavourful, not much to the clams but granted, they're tiny and covered in batter. So hard to rate this place. Ordered frog legs, frys and a bud lite. I got the frog legs and asked about my beer he said sorry and brought me one and I asked about the frys he said they were coming right out ( so he forgot about them too ) about 10 minutes later they came out. First after say that Lisa was a great waitress she was on the ball. All the staff was very friendly and courteous. Have to go there hungry because of all the food that they serve you and how delicious it is. The desserts look good but had no room for it. Can't wait to go back there. read more

If you want delicious Florida/Everglades southern food Cracklin' Jack's is the place to go! Their staff resembles a family and is indicative of the locals, very sweet but can come off as rough especially to visitors. Their family serving style means that there are 6 sides that are bottomless for everyone ordering food, your waiter will bring these sides over after you're seated and will continue to refill them until you're done. If you see one on the menu that you know you won't eat please tell them before they bring it to you and it goes to waste. I'd highly recommend the battered gator and fried oysters platter, this is a meal I insist on having every time I visit home! read more

Bad service. They wanted to charge me $1.50 for a "bun" with my pork tenderloin already at $15.99. I told the server "no vittles" and she brought them anyway including muffins and cornbread that were wasted, but would not give me a "bun unless I paid $1.50. I was there last night and Aubrey took care of us. She did not know what was on the menu . She had to ask someone else working. I think she needs to be trained on how to act and what is and is not on the menu. We ordered $75 of food :fried shrimp sawgrass shrimp 2 kids meals of chicken tenders and fried shrimp and clam chowder .My husband only wanted clam chowder. He was questioned twice about why only the soup and she rolled her eyes at him while doing it. Then she tells us she didn't know if there was soup. She also said how he was going to be charged extra for vittles. Then she came back and said there were no chicken tenders. On the menu vittles come with complete dinners which we ordered two.. She was rude disrespectful and rolled her eyes at my husband. We were told they were out chicken tenders dinner but charged for it anyway . My family did not want to stay after that horrible treatment. I lost my appetite and could not wait to leave. When we spoke to the owner he agreed she was rude but did nothing. I also had to call the restaurant about my charge for a meal I did not receive.Customers are not number one here. We have been patrons for years. Needless to stay once Cracklin Jack moved locations so did the service. Do you self a favor go somewhere else. read more

Stopped here on a recommendation. WOW, impressive little southern style cooking. Very friendly service and very clean. Very family friendly as well. I had the brisket, mashed potatoes and greens while my wife had the gator and shrimp. Large portions, served hot and pretty tasty. Would I say its the best brisket I've had? - no, but it was very good. Next time we will try some of the other BBQ options. Some of the best southern comfort food I've had. Prices are very reasonable and its unlimited sides so you're guaranteed to leave there feeling full. The reviews all looked good so we decided to try it. We will not be going back. Everything was overcooked. The kids mini corn dogs were very burnt so we sent them back and ordered a grilled cheese. Five stars for the food...great freshly prepared southern cooking. This is my second visit and I had the fried catfish AGAIN with the most delicious made from scratch hush puppy and the Mrs had pulled pork with stewed tomatoes and a zucchini muffin. Incredibly fresh made from scratch comfort food. This is not a count your calories or fat gram type of place. My only comment would be the server we had was quick and efficient however a little bit unfriendly. I get you are having a bad day, I don't expect white glove treatment, just be nice. read more

They have Alligator Tail, but I have found Alligator and Crocodile (from New Guinea) rather tough in texture. They have impressive specialty and odd dishes: Bull Frog legs, Channel Catfish, Quahog clam strips, sausage gumbo, fried chicken livers, beef(?) liver and onions. Fried okra and fried green tomatoes appetizers. They also have seafood, BBQ, chicken dishes, and specials. Only bottled beer, but otherwise a full bar. They had set up a table for the 11 people in our party. Lucy's ribs had the BBQ sauce on the side, strange. I had a seafood basket with frog legs and alligator. We both had mixed cooked greens. They had just gotten frog after a 5-month hiatus and the alligator was tender. Everything was very good to excellent with generous amounts and cheap prices. We drove past their old, tiny place on the way to the new, larger location. Service was good. There was a bit of a wait for the food. The chairs were not particularly comfortable. Their menu seemed rather heavy by frying most things. Cornbread muffins were a little sweet (Yankee cornbread). The hushpuppies were almost tennis ball size and could have used a bit more onion. Menu Mistakes: Nothing can be both "firm and tender"; and I hope "beef liver" is actually calves' liver. Bathroom wheelchair accessible, but so small the opening door hits one standing at the sink. First time here. Arrived around 5 on a Saturday after traveling all day. Place was clean, and pleasant. Staff was friendly, and helpful. Food was good, comfort food. Portions were large, prices are very reasonable. I got the fish platter (fried), wife got mahi mahi broiled. Side dishes are family style all you can eat, all good except the cole slaw which didn't have much tastes. They have drink specials, We got one of the Saturday specials, sangria. We split a pitcher for $12, and struggled to finish it, not because it was bad, but because it was big. We both agreed it was very good, not great, but it was a great deal. I get that CJ serves food that is more in line with Southern cooking and that the endless "vittles" are a part of the idea of a large family meal. I even understand the appeal of travelers looking for an authentic South Florida meal. What I don't understand is why this establishment is pathetic in almost every way. Let's start with the server. We had a woman who confessed to us that it was her first day. No problem. Her trainer, however, must be terrible. They left her by herself most of the time despite the obvious lack of customers and talked and cussed with the other servers at the front counter. I hesitated leaving a tip of any kind just because I didn't want anyone but the Noob to get the money. Next, we ordered an app for the table to try some frog legs/ gator bites. Gator is good and CJ's is alright. Next I ordered the rib special. Caveat: I'm from KC and ribs are our thing. The baby back ribs are not CJ's thing. Not sure what they were trying to accomplish but whatever it was, they fell way short. I ate two and then passed. Finally, my Wife and Mother were going to share the brisket. They were informed, despite the restaurant being billed as a family portion restaurant, that they would be charged an additional $7. This is not mentioned or listed anywhere and so my Wife passed on dinner. Wtf? The fatty brisket they laid in front of my Mother could have fed all four of us and the next table had it been busier. Possibly the worst service I've ever had. They have a we hate tourist policy it seems like. Ordered the brisket and it was so fatty I was only able to eat maybe half of it. We waited a solid 25 mins for the food. We saw our waitress maybe 3 times while we were here. Then after we were done and got our bill, we waited about another 20 mins. Place was not busy and there is no excuse for lousy service. Dad said cat fish was good and mom said country fried steak was good also.
