Be sure to try the peg game and see if you can leave only one peg which means you are a genius. Leave two pegs and you are pretty smart. As we're traveling around, we will spend the occasional night in a Cracker Barrel parking lot. Yes, I have an RV and CB allows RVers to use their parking lot overnight. While we were too late for dinner, we were up a little late and opted to stick around for breakfast. CB can be a challenge for our eating regime as I'm on keto (no carbs) and Mrs. K. is pescatarian (no meat). Thankfully, Cracker Barrel got us covered with poached eggs, bacon and sausage for me, French toast with maple syrup for Mrs. K. A delicious meal that we thoroughly enjoyed with friendly service and lots of coffee! We'll keep using the Cracker Barrel for our overnights and they'll keep feeding us great meals. I ordered the new spring item, the Garden Scramble. It would be a disgrace to even call the mushrooms that, because they were simply char. My stomach has been ill since, throwing up etc and I haven't been able to eat right in two days. Terrible service and attitude! this is the 3rd experience we have had with very negative results. We ordered online and reviewed and printed our order. We arrived and the place was busy; however, I asked the cashier about our order, and she walked away, when I asked to speak to a manager, I was ignored and told that they were too busy. Our order was missing the eggs as well as the strawberry syrup, even though it was listed on our ticket. Despite the national uproar over the logo change, the operations specific to the Somerset Store are in vast decline. We have been burned enough by this place and we try to always support businesses in our community. This location is an embarrassment to the store's brand. read more

Came in w a group on a Saturday around 9:30. We had about a 30/min wait for them to get us a table together. Seemed like a very long wait, when we watched groups of 5 and 7 go in. Once seated we had about a 5-10 min wait before our lovely server MEGAN came by. Once she got to us- she took both drink and food orders. VERY EFFICIENT!!!! Spent about 100mins here for the group bill was close to $200 - pre tip. I would recommend based on service alone. MEGAN is the only reason I'm not scoring lower. She kept our drinks filled and made sure we had what we needed. She did at one point have assistance from another server. He was awesome also!!!! Thank you to both of them. Of course of the group 1 person (which was me) didn't get their entire order. My only complaint about this was that they still charged me FULL PRICE for food I didn't receive. I was told they ran out of hashbrowns, apples, and gravy..... then as I was leaving. They made an announcement about those plus a few more things I think. Really attentive waitress and awesome cooks in here. No problems here at all, just a great team working together to serve numerous tables as they should. We order our food for take out. They do an excellent job on their to-go orders. We travel with traffic about 20-25 minutes home after get our order. The food is still good and warm to eat once getting home. This tell you a lot about you food I think. It's always fresh and full of flavor. They include fork! Plus other items needed in order to eat your meal. I didn't even ask! If you have ever ordered thru a drive thru something that required a fork or spoon only to find they did NOT put one in you bag after you pull out! You will appreciate this!! Their pricing for their regular meal and two sides on many of their dinner cost about the same as a combo at a burger joint without the drink but so much better. The food was decent but hard to say with a lack of drink making us fearful of choking. He had 3 tables. Terrible food and nasty service at this location! The waitress did not like me because I have tattoos showing and definitely didnt like my husband because he is hispanic. This is a very racist, Pharisee infested part of the US so employees at all the restaurants will turn their noses up at you if you look different. As far as the food, my grits were runny, cold and uncooked. I asked for her to take them back and she argued with me and insisted on replacing them. Everyone knows if you ask to send something back to be replaced, it will get spit on or worse and CB is no exception. I finally had to loudly tell her no and she looked at me as if I were a jerk. We wont go back. The food and price is not worth being scowled at by the ton of old people who flock there. I went for breakfast and was very disappointed. I got fried eggs, hash browns and pancakes. I asked for runny eggs and crispy hash browns but got eggs that were drowning in oil with hard centers and the hash browns were under cooked and limp. I sent the eggs and hash browns back while I ate the pancakes which were adequate. The eggs came back cooked correctly but were still swimming in oil and the hash browns were still undercooked, so I sent them back again. Went to Cracker Barrel at 2 pm on a Saturday. Breakfast rush was over. Parking lot had plenty of places to park. We walk in and they tell my Family of 4 it's a 20 minute wait while I see 2 empty, clean tables available. I agree and start waiting. After a while they say my last name AND someone else's so i thought it was time to sit down. NOPE they messed up. Understandable. I ask how many people are in front of us and they say 4. My wife had to work soon so we leave to go eat somewhere else so she'll have time. As I'm leaving, I look through the window to see 5.... yes FIVE empty and clean tables (in addition to the two from earlier) ready for someone to use. I originally thought all the employees standing around doing nothing, clapping their hands together were waiting on people to leave in a full restaurant. Nah. Just a bunch of lazy morons not willing to do the bare minimum their easy as pie job requires. Ate here with a friend at lunch. I have my go to-tos at this chain where I am picky, and this location did it all well. The dumplings were a cooked all the way through and yummy. (I hate hitting a flour middle.) The hash-brown casserole was flavorful and moist. Our service was friendly and attentive. As a bonus the gift shop had a great selection of beach decor. I know Kentucky is a land-locked state but many travelers on I-75 are beach bound and the locals go to the beach often from this area and we love beach goodies! read more

I think this is one of the few Cracker Barrel's off a major highway so we're lucky. If I need a meatloaf fix or good pancakes, this is my go to. It's just so comforting in there especially if the fireplace is going. I got the biscuits and gravy to go the other day. Tasty! read more

We placed an order online for pickup because who doesn't love Cracker Barrel on a Sunday! We placed the order and it said it would be ready by 11:48 am. My husband went and waited for a half hour. Placed a online order for curbside pickup. Checked in as instructed thru the confirmation email. Decided to also call and check in. The first attempt we were put on hold and hung up after waiting 10 minutes. 35 minutes passed without my order brought out. Called a second time to be interrogated when we placed the order and if we had checked in!! So.. finally a manager gets on the phone and our food arrived to the car. Giving it 4 stars cause this location is very consistent. The service can be slow at times but that's usually on a busy day. Favorite dish is Chicken fried chicken, hash brown casserole, pinto beans, and dumplings. For dessert, can't go wrong with the Coca-cola cake or Apple dumpling! read more

Called in a to go order. They said I had to come in to pay and then they would bring it to the car. I went in to pay and ask if they could bring it to the car. They said "the food is coming out soon". This was repeated me myself and the counter person 2x. I gave up and stepped away from the groups of maskless people waiting to pay(each to their own). Food came out and I grabbed it and immediately drove 2 blocks. All the food was cold anyway. They forgot my slaw and subbed grits as well. I have eaten at more Cracker Barrel then I can count over the years around the country. Never again at this one. Hey corporate or management , don't bother responding to this review, I don't want to hear anything from you. Went here after 5 about 2 weeks ago, our server Renee was absolutely amazing, wonderful service. But....... went back this week had a different server whose name started with a K was almost non existent. Took our order, delivered the food and delivered the bill. That's it, nothing else. Didn't get knives to cut the meat so we had to go to the door of the kitchen to ask, didn't get the biscuits that was supposed to be with our order. Although all the other customers had theirs, our sides were. completely wrong, no drink refills, Needless to say we didn't leave a tip like we usually do. Although a busy location this one is clean and well kept with good service. Unusually off an interstate on Hwy. 27, this Somerset CB stays busy. The food is usually good and of course, the old store to saunter around in makes things worthwhile. We had the french toast, fried eggs (OE), bacon and also the opened faced roast beef w/mashed potatoes and cole slaw (an old stand by fave). Wow! Really good food and a lot of it. Very busy, but didn't stop them from providing great service and good food. We ordered Chicken Fried Chicken and Southern Fried Chicken. Yikes! Service is sometimes a hit or miss depending on how busy but the waiters are always nice just supper busy. The foods good but my taste in food has changed a lot over the years so it's not really my cup of tea but I wouldn't be upset if someone got it for me. Cause like I said it's good just not for me. As far as the design of the place there's not another place like it. I understand the appeal they're trying to put across but the chairs they use are horrendous. Hard and rickety. I love it when the fires going in the winter but as far as decoration that's the only thing I like. Even then I'd rather be in a cabin somewhere with that then in a restaurant that's off of every interstate. Most of my review is a criticism of the actual company. The actual people who work there and put time and effort into giving you the best experience possible and will even apologize because everything is so busy. They have this old country store where there´s infinity of items, clothing, they even have this wood rockers outside like YOU NEED ONE OF THOSE. Food was delicious! Strawberry lemonade was AWESOME, nice coffee!! I ordered the Sampler with mac&cheese, fries and mashed potatoes!! KILLER FLAVOR! Big dish if you are hungry you go for this!! 1 star for the kitchen staff and 5+ stars for the management, making up for the kitchen staff. I'll try to keep this short and to the point but I don't think it will be. Husband ordered a special multi-berry pancake breakfast. He liked it. We came in on a Sunday and their Sunday chicken special is my absolute favorite. That chicken is amazing. But I think it was too early to order that but I saw a special breakfast called Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast, that included "Chicken Fried Chicken or Country Fried Steak topped with our Sawmill Gravy, with two Grade A eggs* cooked to order, Grits, homemade Buttermilk Biscuits, Sawmill Gravy, and the Best Preserves, Jam n' Apple Butter (on request) we could find. Served with Fried Apples or our Hashbrown Casserole." Now, I hate country gravy. Hate it with a passion... but my husband digs biscuits and gravy so I decided I would ask for the gravy on the side so we could order him some extra biscuits to have with the gravy. I was thinking the chicken fried chicken would be like that delectable homestyle chicken and I can never get enough hashbrown casserole. I also don't like grits so I always tell them to not bring it (i hate seeing it wasted). When my order came, the first thing I noticed was the waitress handing me a bowl of grits but then she said "oh, they put the gravy on the chicken. I'll take that back". She mentioned that she had written it twice on the ticket about No gravy on the meat. I decided to let the grits thing go and just slid it over to the other side of the table. Within about 2 minutes, a guy who was not our waitress brought my plate back. I had realized they only brought my 2 biscuits but not the ones for my husband so I asked him if he could please bring the extra biscuits. While he was off doing that, I happened to turn the chicken over and found that all that happened was they scraped most of the gravy off and turned the chicken over. Ummm, I could have done that if I didn't mind the vile gravy touching my chicken. So when the guy brough the extra biscuits back, I apologized and said "i hate to do this but I really don't want any gravy on my chicken" while showing him the underside of the chicken. He said he'd have to show his manager and took it away. After a couple minutes, the waitress came over and was so apologetic about it. She said she couldn't believe they (the kitchen staff) thought they could correct the problem by doing that and said the manager was back there, cooking my food himself. After about 5 minutes or so, the manager brought out ALL my food, including more grits and biscuits (the extra biscuits made up for the extra grits but I still feel guilty about 2 bowls of untouched grits). He was very apologetic and said he took my order off the bill. I thanked him and said that wasn't necessary and he said it was, that he spoke to his kitchen staff because that's not how they do things at Cracker Barrel. So major kudos to him for correcting the situation. And just FYI, while the chicken fried chicken was okay, it was nothing like the homestyle chicken they serve on Sundays so lesson learned there. But we left as happy customers and made sure to leave a generous tip ($8 on the adjusted bill amount of $16) for the waitress as she seemed mortified at the situation and it clearly wasn't her fault. The Management at this Cracker Barrel is to be commended and I hope the kitchen staff learned a lesson. read more
