When I walked back inside (we ordered Togo) the cashier which was super nice and friendly went to the back to ask for the items and they were very rude about giving the essentia items that we needed for our food! Went on a Sunday mid-morning and surprisingly, we got seated right away as the breakfast crowd hadn't shown up yet. This is like all Cracker Barrels I've been to so I know what to expect. The service is overly-friendly and rushed. The food is generally the same in every CB out there so if you've eaten at one, there should be no surprises at any others. I got the build-your-own breakfast with eggs, sausage and plain hash browns. It's a reasonable price for what you get and easy to cook properly. Service was fast, food arrived ~10 mins later. It wasn't too noisy and we could actually talk without yelling. (I was there with 4 other people.) We got the check quickly, even before some of us finished eating, so it was a quick turnaround on the table. The food at Cracker Barrel needs a serious update! The breakfast are pretty good as usual, but I think they're getting a little bit crazy with some of the additions. Maybe trying to be a little bit too trendy at a Cracker Barrel! Our bill was enormous for just three people. I was actually a little bit stunned! Of course it's always fun to go to the shop outside after you eat and walk around and look around that's always a fun part of Cracker Barrel but even out there it's so expensive! The novelty of the place is cute. Stopped in during a 4 hour road trip. I don't get the hype about their Chicken and Dumplins. It was a bowl full of thick wet slurry of flour and water with bland flat dough chunks. Great for people who don't have teeth to chew and or have non functioning taste buds. There is no nutritional value in the meal. I was lucky if I got any chicken. Mac and cheese was plain. I added my broccoli to it and that made it edible. Corn was overcooked and bland. My son asked how is it possible to make bad corn. Vegetable soup tasted like it came out of a can. Meat loaf and mash potatoes was presentable but I wouldn't go out of my way for any of it. Never coming back. Biscuits were the best part of the meal. I'm not a fan of leaving bad reviews since there are people out there who keep coming back. read more

I have noticed a change in some of the food quality so I am giving it four stars but this could be because of the supply chain issues. Honestly, I have never understood the popularity of Cracker Barrel. I guess my biggest issue has always been that while it attempts to come across as his little piece of southern charm, I would suspect that it is about as southern as a New York City corporate boardroom. And I will also say that it seems that I am in the minority. Most people seem to love this place. I just don't get it. I will say that their breakfasts are not terrible. This was a convenient stop for me to grab a quick breakfast. Service was fine and the food was what you would expect from a national chain attempting to cook a regional l cuisine. My go-to for breakfast is often the chicken fried steak with eggs. Their version is not terrible, but I think I can get a better version from a local mom-and-pop business. Plus, I do like the thought of putting my money into a local economy rather than a corporate boardroom. I do like they're little market that you have to walk through to enter the dining area. It is obviously a marketing approach to separate you from a few more dollars at line their pockets, but they do have some interesting things. Again, most people seem to love Cracker Barrel. If you are one of those fans, please come here. I am sure you will like it. I myself find it tolerable, but nothing extraordinary. I will give it three stores for mediocre. read more

Normally you get a star for cold beer but they lost that one. Mediocre service with a 20 minute cook time. Lost that one too. Normally you loose a star for processed salty meals but I was in a pinch for time so came to a chain across from the hotel. This experience reminded me again to stay out of the chains while I travelled. So the mediocre meal is on me. I guess warm beer makes you stupid. I used to eat there years ago and I was there a couple of months ago only because I had a gift card and we tried the breakfast for a change... well my grits were definitely instant and tasted like the pouch they came in and my "from scratch biscuits" tasted like freezer burn. But the scrambled eggs and bacon were good. Wasn't impressed because it's hard to mess up breakfast, but they are doing it. Won't be going back that's for sure. If you're like me, you've seen these restaurants everywhere, along with the billboards. We were reluctant to try it for just that reason. Starving, we stopped while checking out commercial property in Hickory for our biz. What a cute place! Staff were awesome Mea, our server could definitely juggle an entire tray of dishes while serving a full pitcher of iced tea- impressive! I had the chicken and dumplings and my husband had the Turkey dinner Thursday special. This food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. In the country store, I saw some Christmas decorations for souvenirs and the ladies there were so very helpful- totally appreciate their assistance and kindness. Highly recommend! read more

Stopped in for lunch and had their chicken pot pie which was delicious. Also, with the purchase of a lunch entree, they had a special for a $5 take home meal and I got the meatloaf. Went here for MIL birthday. The waitress (probably new) stood at one end of the table to take 10 peoples drink order. It felt like we had to yell across the table and could barely hear her. The biscuits and drinks were brought out. We didn't get enough straws because most of them fell on the floor. (sorry, but I don't like to drink out of cups when out because I've seen too many lipstick stains". Again, she was new, so that could be why. I ordered a salad and chicken and dumplings. The food came out shortly after placing our order. I got my salad about 5-10 minutes after my entrée, so it got a bit cold. It felt a bit rushed overall. That would be great for breakfast, but not for dinner, especially with a larger party or a celebration. It\'s great if you are in a hurry or don't order an appetizer/ salad. The chicken and dumplings should be called dumplings with some chicken. It was a bit carby for me. It was good for Cracker Barrel, but I guess I was expecting some veggies and more chicken. CB will always have a special place in my heart. It's where I got my first job in high school. * insert heart emoji* This location runs just like every other location. Fast and easy service. Breakfast served all day. Biscuits light and fluffy. I ordered the two biscuits (with sausage) and an egg no the side. One small OJ. My entire bill (including tip) was under $10. Gotta love it. Service was great. Our table had 8 people (including two small children) and everyone wanted something from the server: an extra straw, there were dropped utensils, we needed extra jam, more tea, more coffee etc. Our server was diligent and got everything we asked for. read more

The place itself is stupendous and left me in awe when I first walked in. I wasn't expecting a gift shop in the entrance of the restaurant and its not exactly a small one or a cheap one at that but some of the merchandise is worth it. We were seated quickly and our waitress was quick to take our drink order and shortly after our food order. The menu's are detailed and have a large selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner choices. The ambiance here is very nice and quaint. Feel's almost as if I were at home at a large family reunion. The inside is clean and spaced out so there's no scooting around or having to wait for ppl to pass by. The food was delicious!! I haven't had chicken n dumplings in years and the dumplings here were the best I've had ever! Our total was under 25$ and the two meals we ordered were enough to feed 4! We had a horrible experience. The manager was awful. We had to literally chase her around the restaurant. Our food came out not cooked all the way. our server never filled our drinks. The manager come over and said why didn't you tell me. Well we asked the waitress several times for a manager the front line for a manager and every where finally when my son went to stand until she came out did she actually talk to someone. Ridiculous service and horrible manager skills will never return what so ever read more

Took a group of senior citizens here a couple of weeks ago and the service was horrible. Everyone got their orders at different times one table was completely finished eating and paying when the 4th table was just getting their food. Three out of four orders were wrong and the one persons food never came at all. It'll be a long time before I ever go there again. Pretty standard CB, it's no surprise what you are getting yourself into here! I do think the employees at this location are some of the friendliness I have happened upon...ever. They were all so gracious and welcoming we enjoyed breakfast here 2 days in a row (the absolute lack of other breakfast options in Hickory also played into this). It did take me a couple days anyway to really perfect the 'ol order. I wanted 1 egg, grits, hash brown casserole and toast, the most value savvy way to arrive at this is to order the egg option on the kids menu and add grits. I am always disappointed by the lack of veg options at breakfast here so I washed everything down with tomato juice, which scratched my itch. On the quest to find a similar breakfast combination as described above, my husband ordered the Uncle Herschel's Favorite, which came with the option of fried catfish as the protein. It was SO GOOD. You gotta check out the pic, perfectly seasoned and not greasy at all! Go CB! Grits were runny both mornings, which was not cool, but I can forgive a lot for that catfish. read more
