Burnt cornbread

Burnt cornbread that came with the meal I posted about yesterday !! Here in the food, burnt, cornbread, pickles, burnt, country fried steak overcooked. What a waste. !!!!

The wait to be seated wasn't long and we were seated immediately. The food was good and served promptly. I highly recommend the Carolina Chicken Tenders. The only negative wasn't really the restaurant's fault it was other patrons who were very intent on staring a our table. We weren't being loud or anything I guess we were just interesting.

Recently placed an online order here for curbside breakfast. When I arrived at the restaurant, I notified the restaurant and 20 minutes later I called to inquire about the status of my food. The woman placed me on hold to check on my food and then hung up on me. I decided to go inside to get my order and I tapped who I believe was the manager and asked about my order. He goes to where they placed carry out orders and said this just came up. The mound of butter had completely melted and the food was room temperature. The manager kept insisting it had just come out. Lies lies and more lies. I had waited outside for 20 minutes before calling them ultimately going inside. I wanted fresh food because I still had to drive home. When I get home, one order of the pancakes were half cooked or cooked just enough to softly set. The other order of pancakes had pieces of what looked like starwberry and a piece of chocolate in the pancake, probably from a dirty griddle. Horrible customer service and dishonest management.

Dumplings which were 100% not done in the middle

This place is typical food precooked and always mildly warm to the touch. I get that's it's a chain but a little pride in your service would be great. The food I got here today was less than average. I ordered a side of dumplings and they were one big piece and not cooked in the middle. Completely uncooked dough. The table behind me was seated 8 to a table and there was no room for me because the waitstaff allowed the table to add 3 seats to an area that didn't have enough room for the family to put their baby bag on which caused no room for my table. Today was an awful experience and it seemed like no one really cared to fix it. The only reason I'm giving this experience a 2 star is because our waitress was great.

My first time going to a Cracker Barrel was this past weekend and I thought it wasn't a bad experience. For one, you can feel and taste the corporate-theme-ness. Because, you know it's really not an old country store and it's just imitating one. When there are so many locations, it also takes away from the charm. They sell lots of modern items and everything just seems kinda fake. It is what it is though and we were here to get some country breakfast! The food was good, but nothing worthwhile. It's probably better than a Waffle House, but the fact that I'm comparing it to a WaHo is telling. I wanted some country fried steak, so I went with: Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast (Two farm fresh egg with grits and your choice of Fried Apples or Hashbrown Casserole plus Chicken Fried Chicken or Country Fried Steak. Comes with All the Fixin's: Sawmill Gravy, homemade Buttermilk Biscuits, real butter and the best Preserves n' Jam) It could've been better and the spot was not really hit. So, honestly, Cracker Barrels are just decent to me. I'm not in a rush to go back to one and don't get excited when I see one from the freeway. I wouldn't wait more than a few minutes to get a table. My rule of thumb is to always try a local restaurant so don't settle for corporate chains when there are true mom and pop shops probably nearby!

Mimosas

I have been to many Cracker Barrel locations but this is the first one I have found alcohol on the menu. We arrived for lunch and ended up enjoying some strawberry and orange mimosas. The waitress was amazing and friendly. The food was delicious meatloaf moist and juicy. The steak cooked like we ordered although my wife's shrimp was a little on the dry side. Seems like the shrimp were over cooked.

New coastal seafood plate

I ordered the new coastal seafood dinner this evening which contained one small piece of fish and another piece of fish that was even smaller! The meal comes with 5 shrimp and 2 sides. I ordered fries and coleslaw. I never received the coleslaw. I asked for the manager. She came over and I explained that the piece of fish was only a bite! She said "sorry", the chef puts 2 pieces of fish on the plate and if the piece was small, then that's what I get! The manager asked if I wanted something else! Really!! I wanted the fish plate like is advertised! I don't think we'll be back to this Cracker Barrel.

Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast

On our way back from a cabin trip in Luray, we had to get breakfast/brunch and what place better than a Cracker Barrel. We walked in and were seated immediately (even though we had at least 8 people in our group). Our servers were super nice and made sure we knew what we were ordering. I ordered Grandpa's country fried breakfast and enjoyed it. Very filling with the steak being cooked and fried perfectly. The eggs were good, and the hash-brown casserole added to the overall meal. Overall, a fresh meal that hit the spot.

Overall It was alright, I guess the commercial hyped it up a little mainly because I was expecting my taste buds to be blown. But the country fried steak was the best I've ever had when I orders the Grandpas Breakfast. It came with eggs and hashbrown casserole, which was an interesting taste of potatoes, butter and eggs. It came with all the fixings which was grits and biscuits and gravy. It was my first time tasting grits, it was interesting, kinda like cream of wheat. Because I'm asian, I prefer rice over potatoes, rice over biscuits, but in this part of the country, it'll do. And I'm in the south now. The gravy and biscuits was good. The country fried steak was good, I've had it before but that was in Hawaii lol. This one was more fried and crispy and more steaky and the gravy has a little more flavor. Would I come back? Sure. And I like the fact they have a general store inside. It does get to your wallet, and it's only October, and yet theyre selling Christmas stuff. Smart marketing idea.

Food wasn't hot, service was fair. I'm being generous with a 3 mostly because the restaurant was clean.

Normally we wouldn't visit the same restaurant chain twice in a week, but just a few days ago, in…read moreanother state, we had such a great meal at TGI Fridays that we were craving it again. We literally ordered the exact same thing in the exact same way from this location as we did last week from one in a different state and the experience was night and day. The first issue was when we placed our order for pickup, I wanted a mustard packet and the app wanted to charge us an extra 80 cents for that So I just reminded myself to grab one when I was inside. I didn't see any so I asked the young lady and she started to pump some mustard into a cup for me and then realized they had mustard packets so gave me those instead. When I got back to the car, we did a quick check and realized an order of fries was missing. I was tired and wanted to let it go, but my husband wanted his fries so he went back inside. They did make him the fries, but we can all guess how that went. The fries were undercooked because they did them in a rush and the rest of his food got cold while he waited on the fries. It was a shame. There was no salt on my pretzel bites. The queso they gave us was chunky and dark . Despite my warnings, my husband tried it anyway and said it tasted very weird. It was pretty clear it had turned. And after all that we ended up throwing away most of the undercooked fries anyway because they tasted like raw potato. This is a great example of how guests can have a widely varied experience even at the same chain when employees choose not to pay attention to the little things. Last week's meal was absolutely fabulous but our experience here was pretty terrible. I think this location could have a much better rating if the staff just put a little more care and consideration into their work.

Went in hoping for a nice sit down dinner after hard work in the yard all day. I've eaten crab cakes all over including several famous MD crab cakes and I work at a fresh seafood market where we make our own crab cakes. So when I say I know my crab cakes.... I know my crab cakes. Talk of the mountain: this is a super cute and friendly small restaurant located on Main Street. It is very local friendly and the kind of place the staff/owners would know your name and your regular order. I LOVE that. The staff are warm and inviting. You can watch them breading your food and chat with them as you eat. I loved watching. We got the crab cake with fried oysters and shrimp plate with Mac n cheese and fries and hush puppies and another fried shrimp plate with their slaw. It was pretty pricey but we expected that when buying quality seafood. The fried shrimp were absolutely incredible as were the fried oysters (minus the pearl my son found in the one he ate... but again not too much of a surprise). The taste was great, the cook time was perfect, they were delicious! The fries were seasoned and tasty as were the hush puppies (nothing to scream about but definitely good!) the slaw was good (according to my son... I'm not a slaw person). The Mac n cheese was definitely different but not exactly mind blowing. I felt indifferent I didn't love it and feel like I needed it tomorrow, but it wasn't bad. I honestly didn't have an opinion either way on it but I did eat it. The crab cake. The good: this was literally packed with crab meat. Obviously we seek out places that Jam Pack their crab cakes with actual pieces of quality lump crab. Talk of the Mountain certainly does this.... In my opinion to the extreme. When they say zero fillers, they MEAN IT. So does zero fillers make a good crab cake? In my opinion not this way. It was not my cup of tea and I love crab and crab cakes (obviously). It seemed like their formula for the binder was a mustard based concoction and then it was solid crab. The flavor left a lot to be desired and it didn't feel like eating crab cake because there was no filler at all. Making crab cakes is such a delicate balance, a true art in my opinion and while TOTM most definitely is serious about ensuring you taste the crab in their "cakes" the end result was more of a pile of lump crab with a sauce. All that being said I would absolutely eat there again. They were fabulous and I truly applaud their style. This is just my personal perspective from the one visit. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area! Rating: my knee jerk is to give this a 4 because I really am not a fan of the Crabcake and would not order it again, however everything else and the people were 10 stars so I feel like a 5 star rating is deserved. If they ever modified their recipe I would try it again happily AND will def eat there again. The shrimp and oyster was phenomenal.
