I'll start by saying that my very goal was to give my father in law a special gift. Something you couldn't get anywhere else. After hearing stories of his childhood, and some of the things that meant something to him as a child, I looked to recreate an old sign in glass. Fortunately, Facebook pointed me to Groovy Moon Glass, and the owner Nicole, who happens to have her storefront right there in my hometown. I started by reaching out to Groovy Moon Glass through Facebook, and telling Nicole what I was looking for. She had great vision - from my ideas she crafted a design that was even better than I had imagined. She also had an amazing knowledge of what size I would need to really make the details pop. The finished product - beautiful! Hanging in the window, the light shines through and it really catches the eye. Truly, it's a centerpiece that my father in law absolutely loves. I had it shipped directly to him in Colorado. I haven't done this (yet!) But she makes incredible portraits of people's pets, and everyone raves about how great those are as gifts. That will be my next purchase! Something they do that I also have not taken advantage of - classes in store! Check out her Facebook for pics of the kids classes, which look super great. There's nothing like a custom piece, but keep in mind - custom items take time and don't always come cheap. Believe me, though, you get something more valuable than what you pay - a piece that is one of a kind, and absolutely sure to be something that the recipient, or you, treasure forever. Although I'm not much of a painter, the instructor was very helpful in fixing anything I didn't like and answering any questions on steps I had missed.
