She's patient, supportive, and takes the time to make sure everyone is comfortable with what we're learning. What stands out most is her hands-on, real-world approach to teaching. She prepares us for what to expect in an actual dental office, which has really helped build my confidence. It's clear she genuinely cares about her students and their success. I'm grateful to be learning from her. The homework load was not stressful for me. Learning with the other students has been so much fun. I highly recommend this school to anyone who'd like a future in dental assisting. If you'd like to be a dental receptionist, this school teaches you all the dental terminology. It's great for both! You also get a nice pair of scrubs, and your BLS (CPR) certicate included!!! I was nervous about changing careers. After a few weeks here, my confidence for my future has skyrocketed. The way they are set up you can tell they DO want you to succeed whilst keeping the credentia standard. The only issue was it took a long time for students but personally for me i thought it was a good thing because each student was NOT being rushed and told to hurry up. I graduated from this school in September 2025 and was promised assistance with externship…read moreplacement. After waiting several months, I was finally contacted about an externship opportunity in South San Francisco. I explained that I had already relocated to Fairfield and requested placement closer to where I currently live. Shortly afterward, the school owner called me again regarding the review I had made about my experience. During the conversation, she stated that she did not appreciate my comments and that another staff member had informed her about them. The tone of the call felt confrontational and unprofessional. When I explained that my REVIEW reflected my personal experience and that I was not the only student who had expressed similar concerns, I felt dismissed and was told, "I am talking about you!." As a student, I believe feedback whether positive or negative, should be received professionally. My comments were based on my experience with the lengthy delay in securing an externship placement after graduation. I expected a constructive discussion rather than feeling criticized for sharing my honest experience.

HUMANMADE has recreated the same concept as TechShop, but it's MUCH cleaner, organized and with even better machines. On top of that, it's in San Francisco! The staff and volunteers are great for scheduling, advice, and people in general. For the monthly cost, it's less expensive than buying your own machines, then storing and maintaining them. Classes are offered to learn to use the machines which include: laser cutters, CNC, woodshop, Shopbot, industrial sewing, vinyl cutting, 3D printing, CAD programs, and a lot of other skills! I highly encourage creatives to check this place out.

But when COVID stay at home precautions were in place in 2020, I decided to go for it and take my coursework to get my RE license. The on-line coursework of Principles, Practices, & Finance were well-designed for us to learn, with interactive zoom classes. Angela So was a terrific instructor and I know I retained a lot of the information from her classes because I felt good even a year later when I finally got my state exam date in April 2021. Already working in the industry doing mortgage loans, I felt overwhelmed as my test date approached since I could only dedicate a small amount of time to studying. I decided to take the crash course and also opted for the recorded videos and state exam prep. The videos with Ian Medina really helped me integrate concepts in a memorable way. I'm glad I was able to view all of these and also do the practice exams prior to my crash course weekend. Scheduling the crash course the weekend before my test date did help me feel more confident going in. Clarissa Cortez was an amazing instructor who kept us all engaged during the weekend crash course. She was able to integrate real world examples that helped us remember concepts. Our 7-year-old was here for a week this past summer. This camp seems to have a SimCity/Lego crossover thing going on, which I can totally get behind. I was a bit concerned when I signed up that this would be a mostly boy camp -- my daughters had some girl friends there with them and I noticed a few other girls there who we did not know. It seems like @ 30-40% girls that week, in case you are wondering. Though it didn't really make a difference as they work in small teams anyway.
