Not a plumber I recommend at all and heres why. We were recommended to James by someone in our building. At first everything was great, he fixed our main shower taps, installed a washer and dryer and then we were experiencing a leak from our upstairs neighbor. He went and investigated the situation and even cut the dry wall and fixed the pipe a month ago and provided a plumbers report for insurance and HOA purposes. Turns out he never fixed it, he rescheduled multiple time to come address the issue and then never came and now we've had to have our entire kitchen gutted because of the leak and its still not fixed. He was paid $1200 for this.... and he didnt do ANYTHING.. He also recently helped us change the taps in our smaller bathroom 3 weeks ago and left us with it leaking. He wanted to charge me an extra $75 to go 4 miles down the street and grab a nut that is less than $10. We've scheduled him 3 times to come and fix the job that we paid him for and he's cancelled multiple times and now he wont even answer our messages. He is extremely unorganized and flakey. He will schedule with you and then message you the morning of and say he is stuck on another project that he is obviously getting paid more for but wont finish the ones he is already working on. He has said his car has broken down twice... and now its obvious he just doesnt care. Dont recommend him at all. If you are looking for a reliable plumber this aint your guy at all. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience with CPR Plumbing and James. The service was expensive, and shortly after he fixed the pipe in the bathroom, it started leaking again. When I tried to reach out to have the issue addressed, communication was almost nonexistent. My calls were not returned, after repeatedly asking him to come back he would just say he was busy on other jobs and never make time for the job he failed to finish with me and I paid him! The lack of professionalism and accountability after being paid was frustrating. I expected better communication and for the work to stand behind itself. James installed a tankless water heater from Navien for us. He was knowledgeable and came in below any other estimates we've had. All the communication happened over the phone, and with a couple of photos, he was able to give a quote and figure out what he needs to get the job done. On the day of the installation, he was friendly, efficient and professional and installed the heater and walked us through everything without any issue. If that was where it ended, I'd be referring him to all my friends. Unfortunately, getting a hold of him after the job was done has proven nigh impossible. I needed to get a simple invoice from him to submit for a rebate, and that took about 2 months and a multitude of excuses. Last month, one of the parts on the heater started leaking. We've yet to receive any confirmation that he has ordered the replacement part or when he can come to replace it, as he is dodging both my wife's and my calls/texts. I can still recommend him as far as the upfront paid work goes, but expect him to vanish into thin air afterwards. read more

James has helped me out with various plumbing issues in my condo over the past few years now. From a couple of toilet installations to a blocked sink. I can't recommend him enough. He knows his stuff, he shows up (sometimes at pretty crazy hours if he has to) and - most importantly - he's trustworthy. Some other plumbing professional would take advantage of my shambolic lack of any kind of knowledge of plumbing and hit me with huge invoices and massive call out charges. Not James. If he can fix it by talking it through with you over the phone, he'll do that. Would give 2.5 if I could. 4 stars for knowledge + 1 for skill. -1 for no word back on coming to finish the job, -1.5 for stating 30 day warranty but no follow up (so what's the purpose of a 30 day warranty?). At first I thought James had restored my faith in plumbers. He's very knowledgeable and doesn't mind sharing any bit of his knowledge. He'll take a look at a lot of stuff for you and tell you how it could be fixed with no charge at all. I was actually very excited to refer him to many people in my area, unfortunately I do not think this is the best idea anymore. Yes, he's great at what he does, but he hasn't proven dependable enough for me to refer out. I had a simple toilet valve replacement and pump replacement which he quoted a bit high compared to other quotes I received but due to previous bad plumber experience, I decided to go with James. Hoping that a higher cost would result in a better professional coming out into my home. He showed up in a timely manner and got to work, but unfortunately for the both of us, the part he had picked up from the store was faulty and was leaking. He had informed me that he had no time to go back to the store then come back fix it since he had to go to another site but would come back another day. It's currently 2+ weeks later and still no contact regarding on coming back to fix his unfinished job. I was left back at step one and less change in my pocket because I had already paid him for the job. Seems like it's back to nonstop youtube videos and self fixing yet again. Granted that this may be a one time case scenario for James but the lack of follow up and response does not help. read more

James is very comfortable wasting your time - In the span of a week he blew us off 6 different times. James first offered to come Sunday morning. That morning he sent a text suggesting later in the day, then later, a text suggesting later in the week. We agreed because it was not an emergency. He never showed. A couple of days later on Friday he sent a profuse apology and said he could come on Saturday and that we would be his only booking. Not wanting to go through the trouble of finding someone else, we reluctantly said yes and agreed upon 4pm. Obviously, he did not show up. I received a text hours later saying he was waiting to hear from me to let him know I was home (not something we discussed). Since it was then too late, he offered to come the next morning, the Sunday after our original planned time. We decided to keep the farce alive and agreed. Sunday morning we got a friendly text to say he had some errands to run first and would let us know when he could come in the afternoon. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY! I had a simple job to fix a leaking bathroom sink drain. He charged me what I thought was a bit more than normal but he seemed very pleasant on the phone and seemed like a nice honest guy. He came to fix the leak and I paid him and he left. The next day the sink started to leak again and I called him back to come fix it. He said he would come back and said I just had to pay for the extra parts to finish the job since. I agreed and he told us he would be there between 8-10 am and he never arrived. We tried to call and he didnt pickup his phone. He finally got back to us and said his phone died and he scheduled to come the next day. He once again didnt show up and now will not answer his phone nor text messages. After a few minutes of conversation he offered to stop by and take a look at my problem. Those of you who want to find an honest plumber - CPR Plumbing guy James Clifton is not your guy! He came to my unit, messed up the simplest job of all - to change the filter on my filtration system, and forgot to plug in the hoses correctly! Of course, I flooded my neighbors! Now I have to pay for the damage. Insurance does not want to deal with him, because he does not work under CPR plumbing - he is just using their cards, so he is not licensed or insured! Now I am at risk of having lien put on my place, so much for having an American dream!
