Chad promised that he would be performing the work, himself. However, he outsourced the job to inexperienced laborers. Their work was shoddy and incomplete. After the initial consultation, Chad never returned to inspect their work. I spoke with Chad on the phone, twice, to discuss my dissatisfaction. He promised to return to complete the job. However, he never did. I've sent him many emails and text messages as reminders. A few times, Chad even promised to send me a refund. That was seven months ago. I am still waiting for my money. I had called one outfit who refused to do the work and another who never even came to give us an estimate after setting up an appointment. CPL's owner, Chad, returned my call quickly, and came out and gave us a very reasonable estimate to remove some fairly large tree branches, trim back some trees that had grown too close to our house, trim up a large boxwood bush, and tear out a painfully thorny hedge that was tangled in ivy that ran the entire length of our front lawn, roots and all. Chad and his capable crew arrived this morning, less than a week after my first call, and had everything taken care of and cleaned up in a few hours. My lawn had grading issues; they pulled up my patio, corrected the grade in multiple locations, and put the patio back even better than it was before. The crew was also friendly and professional. I contacted CPL Landscape and Tree Service with several other positively reviewed tree companies that either didn't return my phone call or failed to keep the agreed upon appointment. Chad at CPL came out the same day I called and gave me a fair quote on the removal of a large dead maple and trimming of a large pair of elm trees. Chad and his crew showed up on time on 1/17/21and did a great job. The warned me ahead of time that there might be some scarring of the lawn from the removal. There was some but it's nothing that a little dirt and seed won't cure once spring is here. They had the chipper on site and did a good job of cleaning up when they were done. Every tree service that I called gave me outrageous quotes. When I talked to Chad on the phone, he understood my situation just like everyone else, but he was the only one who was willing to actually help me. Worst experience I have had. Took him over 2 months to do a job that should have taken several days. Didn't come when he said he would. Took several text messages to get him to come over to continue the job. I think the seeding job was sloppy. The lawn is spotty at places and bare at others. Rocks were left in the soil that he laid down. We're still picking up rocks. Will not use his service again nor recommend him. read more

First off, this is my first ever review on Yelp and I created account to provide Chad and his team of workers a great review because of his price, service, and professionalism. If you value all 3 of those, then I highly recommend giving CPL Landscaping a call. Chad was the first to call me back after I made phone calls to field a quote. Chad's price was by far the most reasonable. Not only that, he was able to get to work right away the very next day. I was at the gym while he was working and he sent me pictures to keep me in the loop with the tree cutting process. He was very professional, informative, and courteous throughout the entire process. He even gave me a better deal on a 2nd tree I'm considering on cutting down, which I highly appreciate. Not only that, after he cut down the tree, he was able to give me ideas on what I can do on the concrete in the rear of the home. His idea actually worked out for the better as it would save me money. Other contractors were telling me I had to dig out the concrete and redo it. Because Chad was very attentive, he noticed about 10-12 inches of clearance from the ground outside to the first step at the door. Basically, he was telling me that I can build over the concrete, which makes absolute sense. I mean - who's going to ever look at the concrete underneath again after it is built over it? And one of his workers has 10 years of roofing experience as a union worker. I was able to get his number to help me with that. Chad and his guys helped me in every way possible. Chad definitely has your best interest especially from a financial perspective - you can't ask for any more out of a contractor. And my general perception of contractors is that they will try to rape your pockets. Chad changed my mind on that 180 degrees. Owner of CPL called me on 5-19 asking for return call. I called the next morning and got no answer and mailbox was full so I couldn't leave a message. This just proves again what I said in my review. What business owner lets their business phone # full so messages can't be left. What I do hope he has learned from my review is not to allow trespassing by his employees when working on a nearby properties. I do know that accidents happen, and that is why I told him to just trim the branch back properly. He is the one who pointed out that his employee cut it wrong. I believe the whole tree would be considered a sapling and the branch they broke was the thickest one on the tree. It was affected esthetically because the symmetry of the tree was lost. This has nothing to do with a "feud" and I am baffled why a business owner would even involve himself when he has admitted his wrong. I stand by everything I stated in my review. read more

They cut some branches from my large, tall oak tree and the pine trees from two sides of my house. They did a very professional job and left the site spotless. My experience with Chad was horrible from the very beginning. It took him weeks to do the job that would have taken anyone else 2 days. He would say he was coming the next day, then wouldn't show up for a week, always with some excuse. His work was shabby and had to be corrected several times. This spring I asked him to come back and reseed part of the yard that didn't even grow grass seed. Whatever he did, the lawn looked far worse than it had before he touched it again. I contacted him to come back and fix the yard and the connection to the downspout. He said he would be back that week; he never came and never called. I contacted the Better Business Bureau to lodge a complaint. They sent him a copy of my complaint but he never responded or got in touch with me. To date, he has not completed the job. I am sorry that I paid him in full before the entire job was done. I would never never use him again or recommend him to anyone. It was a nightmare. read more

After agreed to do tree removal on my property with a set date, it was one stall after another..."next week"...then "next week" again...After over a month of this wasted time, emails, waiting, and no-shows I was relegated to seek another service, growing weary of the chase. Chad just did tree work at our house last week. Big tree COVERED in vines. We wanted to remove vines to elongate the tree's life while also removing large overhanging branches which we feared could some day damage our neighbors property. His team was intent on very carefully removing the vines without taking the bark with it which would have greatly compromised the health of the tree. They worked meticulously - it looks awesome. These guys are the best! I first called CPL on a recommendation from a neighbor. Winds during Hurricane Sandy knocked down a huge pine tree in my front yard. It was across my yard on the side walk and into the street. Chad showed up within an hour of my call. He quoted me a very reasonable estimate to remove the tree. He cut up the section that was blocking the side walk and returned the next day with a crew to completely remove the rest of the tree. Since that time I have used them several times to clean up trees on my property. Chad always takes the time to walk the property with me and make recommendations to keep the yard safe for my kids.
