The convenience of the mobile service is hard to beat too. It's a little more expensive than service at a brick and mortar building, but it's worth it in my opinion. Most groomers do multiple dogs at once--and your dog sits in a cage in the meantime. Not great. Maria is working with just one dog --yours--from start to finish--so it's way less stress for your baby. I should also mention that Maria is the best, kindest, most competent dog groomer in the DMV. Full stop. If you have a small dog, don't even *think* about going anywhere else! Not only will your furbaby be gorgeously groomed, you will have the peace of mind of knowing he is being cared for by 1) someone who genuinely loves dogs, and 2) is also incredibly talented and experienced. But since our dog had a butt mishap (aka we tried to trim his butt at home) we thought he needed some professional help. We called this place and got an appointment the next day. If you are new they require rabies documentation for your first visit. During the phone call, they just ask general questions on your dog's name, weight, your info, and times you can come in. In addition, they are very upfront with their fees. We told them our dog weight/breed so the receptionist gave us a range so we knew what to expect. I believe they give a range because until they see the dog, they won't know what extra things might need to be done. The day of the visit, we felt very welcomed and seeing all the dogs in the back and in the front waiting area gave our mind ease. Our dog is quite shy and a scaredy cat (except at the dog park, go figure lol). Upon checking in, one of the groomers came out saw his butt and knew he needed to be saved from a haircut got wrong. Although shy, as soon as we let him behind the gate with the groomer, he was quite willing to follow them...but very slow. They gave him a little butt trim and a very good wash that including nail trimming which took roughly 3-4 hours. When picked up he smelled so good, looked extremely happy and calm, and had the cutest bandana on him. The price we paid was less than what we were quoted on which was awesome. But this is probably because he didn't need much of a cut. We definitely plan to use this place in the future as all staff was very kind, all the dogs we saw in the establishment (including ours) were quite calm/happy/excited. The price is reasonable and I like that you can get quoted where they give you a range from the cheapest it could be to the most expensive.

They also don't accept any payment except for cash, and get very angry when you ask how much your total is over the phone (how else am i supposed to know how much cash to carry)? It would probably be easier if their prices were consistently the same for the same services, but they're not and were different with each appointment even though they did the same service every time. When you ask why, they go on a huge rant about how much work they do, which I totally understand. I also understand they prices rise and fall, but everytime? I've never had that happen at a grooming salon and just needed some clarification. Somehow asking over the phone about why the price was higher (not $5 but more like $15) meant that i was unhappy with their service, which was not the case. If you can deal with attitude and misunderstandings on their part, this is the place to go since they DO do a good job, but remember, they don't do large dogs anymore. In the end, its all about the service rendered. 5 stars for how awesome the groom was previously, 2 stars for the ridiculousness of the ever changing prices. I hope its gotten better!

She's always been wonderful to work with, especially when it comes to my reactive dog, who has been going there for nail trims for years. Ken usually handles my dog's nail trims, and he's amazing--efficient, patient, and so good at making my dog feel comfortable despite his reactivity. Angie grooms my Pomeranian mix, and she always does a fantastic job. My dog comes home looking adorable every time! Whenever I'm there, I also notice how gentle, attentive, and caring the other groomers are with the dogs they're working on. Reviews may be more common these days than they were a decade ago, but that's no excuse--Dunia has been such a consistent, important part of Bella's life, and she absolutely deserves the recognition. Dunia is amazing at what she does. She always gets Bella's groom just right, and Bella is always happy and relaxed when I pick her up--which wasn't the case before we found Dunia. In fact, even when I lived in North Carolina, I would plan Bella's grooms around trips back to Virginia because no one else came close. The difference in how Bella felt after other groomers versus with Dunia was night and day. On top of that, the entire staff here is always warm, kind, and professional. Firstly, appointments can conveniently be made through their website after creating a profile, where you can: 1) add multiple dogs, 2) upload vaccination records, 3) choose your groomer. Confirmation texts are sent to ensure that your preferred appointment time is accepted. Secondly, they also send photo updates and text when your dog(s) are almost done so you can head over and pick them up! They're also very communicative and provide updates on whether or not they could cut/style them in a certain way and have always checked in before doing anything drastic. They offer full service bath and grooms, just bath and brushes, and styling. We were able to get the Posey Cuts a few times and our dogs turned out great. Their pricing is reasonable for the area and is dependent on your dog's weight.

We dropped our little shih tzu poodle mix off and showed them the cut we wanted (a photo of a previous cut he got). Picked him up and he did not look like we requested/was much shorter in the face, almost shaved all his chin hair off. My husband went in to pick him up and he said the staff wasn't too friendly either, which doesn't track with other reviews. We are used to getting a little report card on how our dog did from our previous place (I know that's not necessary); when he asked how our pup did in the appt, they didn't really give him any response and just handed our dog over. It was $95, and while it's not the worst cut he's ever had there's not much making us want to go back.
