I used to love this spot but I'm so disappointed with customer service and quality lately. I went in today to get my gel off to prep my nails for an event. The person doing my nails (one of the owners I believe) kept getting up to answer the phone or walk around and check on other clients while I waited. He passed me off to someone else who pretended to pick at my cuticles to keep me for longer. An appointment that could've easily been 10 was over a half hour. The person who started my manicure took my card at the register and hassled me about how I was going to tip, while the person who finished my manicure stood behind me. The only reason I gave any money is because I don't think he was taking no for an answer, and I was sandwiched between two people expecting more money from me for what should've been a quick manicure. read more

Thought I could treat myself when I had a visit to Mystic. To be honest, worst manicure I've ever had. Would never go back!

Honestly just a nightmare. The pedicure was ok, nothing to write home about but no incidents either, the nails were a whole other matter. I didn't catch her name but the gal that did them seemed very reluctant, then sat me at a dirty workstation with what appeared to be dried blood-I thought maybe I was mistaken, but it looked awfully weird to be a bit of polish, maybe some sauce from a lunch? Anyway, I'd asked for a full set and she didn't know what that was, so I asked for acrylics and that didn't register either, we tried hashing it out and eventually she asked if I wanted my nails longer and I said yes-then I figured I could expedite matters by just pulling up a pic of the shape and length I wanted. She said ok, but I did not end up with either the shape or the length, I wanted long stilettos. These are short-medium length, maybe almond at best? As she was prepping my nails she cut me around the cuticle several times. It was very painful, my fingers still feel raw because she sanded over the skin several times not just the nail. I bled from three of my fingers. When she put the acrylics on they flared up away from the nail, so the curve looks weird. I was relieved when we finally got to painting, but she messed up on plain black-no designs, just solid color, so when she started sanding them down to remove the messed up color (nicking my very raw skin again) I was about done, I told her to just clear coat it and we'll be done, just one coat, I just wanted to get out of there. I honestly just wanted to run as fast as I could from the place. I'm not very good at standing up for myself so I figured that would be the smoothest way to just LEAVE, but I had to wave off her trying to get me to try another color, I had to insist I really just wanted a clear coat. She told me clear coat wasn't very good -yes- I know, but I knew by this point I was gonna have to go get them redone anyway and I thought it would get me out faster. So tried to pack up and pay after the first coat, but she held me there and insisted that was a base coat and I needed a top coat and anyway-I'm still feeling so emotional I'm going on. Bottom line: this was painful, terrible, dirty, and cost me $129 for a manicure I will have to have redone and a pedicure with regular polish, and it cost me 4 FOUR HOURS of time-for basically nothing. I picked the Powder nail color 27, fairy dust - which was FAR darker than the color I ended up with. The person doing my nails asked me if I wanted to change color since it was this light after applying 3 coats - I declined because I wanted THIS color for a wedding I'm in. He said he would not do any more coats, refused, even. They should do enough coats to mimic that of which is advertised - I think that just makes sense??? Disappointing. The manicure itself was also lacking; never soaked my nails, nor cleaned under them (as you can see), nor washed my hands until the VERY end (after cuticle oil and lotioning my arms) so I had this horrible gritty dirt feeling all over the entire time. They also used the nail file board to sweep dust off the table onto the floor - seems incredibly unsanitary. On top of all that ... the person aggressively walked up behind me and starting giving me a back/neck massage (without asking) - even though there was a sign hanging above my head that said "due to covid we will no longer be giving back massages"... very awkward and wish they had asked. Recently went to Cozy Nails for a mani pedi. I asked for a back massage at the same time as my mani because they were close to closing time. The nail tech doing my nails called the gentleman who does massages across the room and says something about me wanting a massage. He had been on his phone and his response was loud and abrupt, like he was annoyed. The rest of the employees laughed at whatever he said. He makes his way over and asks how long. The nail tech said 30 mins and he made another comment loud, making the nail tech giggle. He then lets out a very heavy annoyed sigh. I tell the girl that if he doesn't want to do it he doesn't have to. She responds something like it's fine. Needless to say, I won't be returning to Cozy Nails anymore, I will gladly take my business where it is appreciated. read more

This was literally the worst nail salon experience I've ever had. For starters, I had an appointment to have my acrylic nails removed and a manicure. I walked in the door at my appointment time and no one looked up or greeted me. I sat down and waited about 6 minutes until someone finally came over to me. He started to pick and scrape at my nails with his fingers, looking for a loose edge. He proceeded to pry the nail off with a Metrocard. When I cringed, he asked if it hurt. I said yes. He kept going, got the nail off, and moved on to the next nail. This one hurt even more. By the time he got the nail off, half of my real nail had come with it. My stump of a nail was red and literally throbbing. He saw me grab my finger in pain and finally switched to the humane technique - the drill. Halfway through my second hand, he randomly got up and switched with another nail tech. She filed right over my sore, short nail and I had to pull my hand away. When I asked her not to buff that nail, she laughed and asked why. I explained what the other man pulled half my nail off while removing the acrylics. She said something to him across the room in another language and that was that. Multiple times I refused polish, even a clear coat. I didn't want any polish on my now extremely damaged nails. She squirted a scrub on my hands, had me wash them, and dried them with a hot towel. She put moisturizer on me and rubbed it for maybe 5 seconds per hand. She trimmed a hangnail on two fingers and told me I was finished. All while eyeing my poor stub-nail. $17, she told me. On the phone, I was told $5 to take the nails off and $12 for a manicure. I argued that I hadn't received a manicure and she immediately got defensive and listed all the steps she had just performed. Apparently that's what a manicure is to them - even though my nails are uneven and sharp, my cuticles haven't been pushed back or trimmed, and I haven't had any nail polish. As I reluctantly paid, I quietly and politely told her that they really shouldn't use a metrocard to remove nails as it's extremely painful and clearly damaging. She again spoke across the room to the man and not to me. She didn't charge me for the removal of the acrylics, but not once did anyone apologize. As I type this, hours later, my finger is still throbbing. My stump-nail and I will never set foot in that salon ever again. If you have acrylics or want them removed, I'd advise you to consider the same. read more

Not a great experience here. I had a mani/pedi. I asked for the spa menu and my technician didn't give it to me- just proceeded with a basic pedicure. I asked for callus removal and she didn't do it- because she didn't give me the spa menu. Without surprise, she was just as others had said. Kind, gentle, professional and does a really good job. Clean, quiet environment. One thing to note: have some cash in your pocket for the tip. I came here for the first time with my boyfriend a few days ago. He's been here a few times because it's close to his house, but obviously doesn't get polish.. I had a pedicure about 2 weeks prior at my regular salon in Florida and my toe polish still looked perfect but my boyfriend wanted to treat me while I was in town so we came here for pedicures. The service lasted just shy of 20 min which I thought was very quick and odd. The next day I noticed the polish job was sub par. Photos included. the vibe there is always very low key which I prefer. in the past they've been fine but this time I left with having a negative experience rather than a pleasant one. I had requested a back massage at the same time am my manicure which I've done in the past. the nail tech says something in another language and the workers there who had been very invested in something on his phone says something back in a loud tone and all of the workers start laughing. He comes over behind me and asks how long for the massage, the nail tech states 30 mins. He says something else in a complaining tone and she giggles. He then takes a heavy breath like he is annoyed. I tell the nail tech he doesn't have to do it if he doesn't want to. she keeps looking down and just says in a low tone something like it's fine. Then he starts the massage initially with one hand and then that even stops at times as he was most likely watching something on his phone. after he was done watching whatever it was it went back to both hands. Not to complain but it's $40 for 30 mins so it would be nice to have the proper attention paid. Left me feeling like a bother and for that reason alone, I will not be returning to Cozy nails. Came in for a manicure and pedicure. The pedicure was fine, nothing great. The manicure was a nightmare. I'm not into the gels because I don't like the UV light but was very interested in dip powder. I picked a color from the ring that looked like a pretty blue with sparkles. They applied two coats and it looked nothing like the example on the ring. Instead, I was staring at a slightly hued clearcoat with sparkles, making my fingers look like they were blue from cold rather than on purpose. When I asked about this, they said that the examples are painted on a white background so the colors weren't the same and instructed me to pick a new color. (which begged the question, how was I supposed to confidently pick a new color given that I couldn't trust the examples?) I picked another blue, a solid, less glittery, but still pretty, option. The technician then proceeded to paint this color *on top* of what I already had all the while conversing with her coworker, scattering mentions of "clear" in their conversation. She was clearly annoyed and wasn't trying to hide it. She sanded and filed and the finished product was highly disappointing. The two coats of the new color, on top of the two coats of color I was unhappy with, had given my nails a bulbous, acrylic look. Not to mention when she was buffing, she unevenly buffed through the second color and the original one showed through. It was splotchy and ugly and not something I wanted to continue with for an additional 3 weeks. They charged me $70 for both services but the more I looked at my hands, the more upset I became. I asked the technician to take it all off. She pushed back saying it was hard to take off once it was on. I insisted. My nails looked like a small child had done them and given the longevity of dip powder, it was not something I wanted to stare at for the next few weeks. Again, she was clearly annoyed, again the flurry of conversation with her coworkers began. At this point she did not offer to do the nails over with the dip powder correctly, she offered me gel, which I adamantly did not want. Defeated, I picked out a regular polish, knowing that my overpriced manicure would now last only a couple of days. I left with a coat of blue from OPI, raw cuticles, and a condescending comment from the technician suggesting that dip powder wasn't for me. This salon is not for me. No thank you. read more

Whenever I walk in with them there are big smiles & treat the girls like Princesses! My youngest always gets a big "Hello Molly!" Even when we haven't been in for a few months. I go to Cozy nails in mystic often. It is great! The staff is very nice and friendly. It is very very clean! They go above and beyond for the price. I would recommend it to all my friends, especially compared to other nail spas in the area. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because they can be inconsistent. Some of the nail professionals are better and take more time then others. On a few occasions I felt they were rushing me through and not offering the same experience as previous visits. I had a hard time deciding how many stars and I hope you take a minute if you truly want an honest review. I am looking for a place that has reasonable prices pedicures, and decided to try this one today. Now, a basic pedicure is $30. I will tell you I decided to go for the lemon spa pedicure...and I completely recommend that. I will tell you I regret choosing a non opi polish, as mine did not hold up at all. (It's been about 3 hours - and no one's fault but my own for choosing the bright color and not the opi.) The chairs are amazing. The place is clean. It's pretty and definitely relaxing. They have massage after the pedicures in the seats where you dry, and a tip jar for the free massages. This is an amazing massage but for having the tip jar out (which I've not seen elsewhere yet), the massage should be a little longer than it is. Other places I have been that offer this service do not have a tip jar out, and the messages are longer. But they are still great and appreciated. (I will say I tip very well and even tipped a decent amount into this tip jar on top of my tip for the technicians. There are signs asking for tip in cash. They have an atm by the bathroom - it has a 50 cent fee, and a $200 limit. Honestly? At this point I really thought we had found our new place... But there is one person there who smokes. I'm not anti smoking but it is relevant to the story. Another member of our party got a manicure. This person checked her out, and she went to sit at the drying table with the rest of us. She was waiting for her "free" massage, as we've come to expect that basically everywhere we have gone (and she was aware that we had tossed in to that tip jar and we had gotten ours.), and she waited a little while. An awkward while where we wondered if they were going to come over? And then the smoker came inside, tapped her on the shoulder and asked if she wanted a massage. She said yes...and then we smelled it. He went out and had a cigarette. It was an overpowering smell (being a smoker it normally wouldn't bother me, however it was STRONG and I thought perhaps coming inside and washing his hands first may have been a better option?). I can't say we won't return, as we have all agreed everything else was AMAZING (let me tell you - these guys KNOW how to get calluses down)...but I think in the future we will request someone other than this person because I don't think that was a great way to end our relaxing time. read more

After working as a camp counselor for a week at the Seaport, I had a few hours to kill before my train home and thought that this would be my best option for a mani/pedi, and I was SO RIGHT. I called 45 minutes before I got there, and had a 4:15 appointment. It was busy, so the appointment was crucial as walk ins were waiting for 30 minutes. Was worried about the schedule and was hoping this place had enough people to take us all and keep us on time. We walked in right at 11:00 and there were 5 nail techs waiting for us. Should have listened to the reviews about service. Maybe if you have a nail tech that you know is good there the service is better. But when the person doing your pedicure can't even explain what is in a regular pedicure or point out the features from the spa pedicure that are included in a regular pedicure because they can't communicate with you that should have been my first clue. And the other nail tech who seemed to understand my question, didn't help out by trying to explain anything, what a team they made. Still I had faith in the good reviews on this place and regardless of the language barriers thought I would continue. As the pedicure progressed and the guy doing the pedicure, filed down my nails, did all the scraping for calluses and massage and lotion, I was waiting for the part that I go there for, the cuticle trimming. (I actually go for a pedicure to prevent issues with my feet, so that I don't have to see my podiatrist, it is not a vanity issue for me but a medical one) When it became obvious that this was not part of what would be included, I decided against also getting a manicure. And if there had been any attempt of either of the techs to try to breech the language barrier I would have mentioned the cuticles, but by then I was just frustrated and figured why try when he wouldn't understand me anyways, and the girl wouldn't clue him in. Left very unsatisfied. Will never return. I went because they opened at 9 and were closer to an appointment I had in Stonington at 11, while my regular place in Niantic (Tahiti'A) didn't open til 9:30. read more

I was in town for a wedding and needed a manicure before the event. The salon is very clean and they were able to take me immediately. The manicure was wonderful and she was really gentle with the cuticles which I appreciate. There are plenty of manicure and pedicure chairs that could easily accommodate a wedding party. Very clean and personable staff but OUCH... do NOT get a bikini/brazillian wax here. I don't know if the woman was new or not (she was very nice) but I was in there for almost an hour and the wax was not sticking like it should. She went over one area AT LEAST 6 times and admitted that it was indeed the wax. I have had 3 pedicures here and my experience was lovely.
