My wife and I ventured out for our first restaurant dinner since March. We are so happy we chose Coyote Flaco. The tables are well spaced apart. Even though every table was filled by the time we left we never felt cramped and felt very safe. The food was incredible. I had fish tacos and the wife had the Quesadilla Linda with beef. Both of our meals were beautiful looking plates of food and so delicious. Had the pleasure of visiting this hole in the wall place this past weekend. My wife like to visit North Adams/Williamsburg for its beautiful landscape and mountains during fall and summer. Was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Decor is tasteful and not over the top and the margaritas are strong and flow like water. Food was fresh, hot and well presented. Went the Mass MoCA for the day and was craving Mexican and this was one of the first places to pop up and we decided to check it out. Did not disappoint at all. They were quick and the food was amazing. The guac was so good as were the enchiladas. The guac is served from the avocados! The owner was our waiter and he was so lovely and friendly. First of all, I worked in a Mexican restaurant, the Casa Mexico in Cambridge, for 20 years, and we had a so called classic Mexican menu. I loved the mole poblano, enchiladas verdes, etc. And now I cook my own Mexican, which usually starts with chile peppers either charred on a pan or on a grill, and then you make the sauce. I've made mole poblano from the recipe they use in Pueblo, many times.It is a rich chocolate infused sauce, with all kinds of nuts and chile peppers, and it is a thick sauce. I thought that was what I was getting at the Coyote, with the enchiladas Oaxaca. Just because it said mole. It was the wrong kind of mole or maybe no mole because there was no sauce on the enchiladas or it had been cooked out and rendered the blue tortillas dry. white rice in a Mexican restaurant. maybe. black beans in a tortilla cup with cheese. No. As one of the previous reviewers stated, could have come out of a can, or just cooked in water with no spice. Having said that, the Mojito was the best I've ever had. Stopped at Coyote Flaco after a Track meet at Williams College. Service was outstanding. Owner and Servers were friendly and accommodating to my Dad's dietary restrictions. Food was tasty. My only complaint has to be the price of a 1 avocado guacamole appetizer which was $14! almost as much as a meal! I understand the restaurant needs to make a profit, but for someone who buys avocados constantly, I found the price to be outrageous, specially because the price wasn't written on the menu, so it was a big surprise when we got the check. This place would get 4 or 5 stars if it were not for an easily avoidable incident with food timing. The kitchen somehow mixed things up and my husband's entree was never brought out. Once the kitchen realized what was up, they quickly made good, and even gave us an extra dessert for free, but the problem was not the kitchen... it was the waitress, who literally disappeared after taking our order, never to be seen again. It's unclear that anyone other than the kitchen knew what happened, because nobody came to apologize for the mixup, and we had to flag someone down for our check and to swipe our credit card. The whole debacle would have been avoided if only the waitress had stopped by at any point to ask if we needed anything. Now, for the food... My vegetarian Chile Relleno was excellent; the skirt steak (once it came) very good also. We've lived in Williamstown for about 27 years and drove by The Captain's Table on Route 7 many times. We even ate there a few times. When my husband and I returned from living in Central Asia last year we were happily surprised to see that the former steak-and-seafood eatery had been replaced by Coyote Flaco with its "Fine Cuisine of Mexico and Spain". Well, mostly Mexico. We were greeted warmly and quickly taken to our reserved table where the shrimp bar used to be. The ambiance was casual, simple and comfortable. The staff was extremely attentive and even ethnically correct, both unusual in rural western Massachusetts. Tables filled up quickly and when large families with children arrived, they were seated in a side room suitable for them and for us. Crisp blue, red and yellow tortilla chips and salsa arrived promptly and our water glasses were constantly filled. Main dishes were unbelievably inexpensive yet well prepared and excellently seasoned. The portions were sizable without being overwhelming which so often happens at Mexican restaurants. The dessert list was limited but very tasty. Coyote Flaco is a great addition to the usual rural New England fare! read more

I think the main thing we need to remember when reviewing businesses is to manage our expectations. Here's an example: If I went into this restaurant thinking "I'm used to California Mexican food and all other Mexican food should be held to this standard" then I would've had a bad time. Authentic Mexican food this is not, but what it lacks in authenticity it makes up for in charm and customer service. The servers were great and the people were very welcoming. Added bonus: Sam Rockwell was at the bar when I came in. You may remember him as Wild Bill from The Green Mile or as Eric Knox from my FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME, Charlie's Angels. Five star Mexican food in Williamstown! My wife and I took the kids up to homecoming at Williams, and rather than try and find dining on Spring Street with a 3 and 4 year old on Saturday night, we decided it would be better to give this place a try. When my wife and I were in college the building was occupied by a seafood restaurant, adorned with fishing nets, fake lobsters, the whole nine. We were surprised (and eventually delighted) to see a Mexican place on RT 7 near Williamstown, what a nice addition. I wish this place had been around when I was in school...it would have been my go-to when my parents came to town to take me out to dinner. It was all wonderful, and it even worked out for the kids. They were so happy with their meals that they decided to behave...it was a good evening. I look forward to taking the family back out west and stopping by there again. read more

Born and Raised in Berkshire Country I am always looking for a new place to dine. Coyote Flaco is a great change to the normal American, Italian and Asian cuisine that is easy to find here. The margarita menu is excellent, and the drinks themselves are even better! The menu had something for everyone, from spicy to not. You may find this hard to believe, but you can actually get outstanding Mexican food in the Berkshires. Coyote Flaco at 505 Cold Spring Road Williamstown, MA. On a recent day trip from Boston to The Clark Museum some friends and I stopped into Coyote Flaco for an early dinner and were simply blown away by the food. I'll add that the place itself was nearly immaculate. Everything was clean - even the bathrooms - and well thought out. The waiter was terrific and we even met the owner who was genuinely warm. I am a bit of a Mexican food aficionado having had my share of both great and not-so-great and I can say with all sincerity that Coyote Flaco is probably the best Mexican food I've ever had. If you're out in Western Mass you should work this place into your itinerary. read more

Quick service, attentive staff, and flavorful food. My family and I came here after a visit to The Clark and it was great for all of us. We received fresh chips and salsa upon being seated. The ambience is quiet with well prepared tables to match. My kids were treated kindly by staff and their kids menu was perfect - a simple quesadilla for one and the other had a steak burrito. I had a stuffed pepper in salsa verde with my wife having enchiladas in red sauce and they did not disappoint. The meat was seasoned just right and the salsas were flavorful. The sides of guacamole, rice, and beans rounded out the dish adding flavor and richness with each bite. We will definitely eat here again when in the area. The only complaint I have was the kids salsa that was served with the kids burrito tasted like a mix of red salsa and ketchup. Not sure why they did this because of the unusual flavor combination, but upon testing it my kid said they did not like it, and after I tested it, I could only agree. After extensive research into dining options in the Williamstown area, we settled on Coyote Flaco as one of our choices. We tried making a reservation using the restaurant's website, but never received a confirmation. We thought about calling, but then realized, hey, it's a Tuesday night in Williamstown, how busy can it be? Sure enough, when we arrived, the place was less than half-filled. We waited for awhile at the vacant hostess stand with no one acknowledging us--long enough for us to consider leaving. Finally, a woman came over. I told her we had a reservation--she just said OK, never took our names, and seated us at the closest table to the door. Not off to a good start. Next, a gentleman took our drink order. We ordered a half-pitcher of red sangria, which turned out to be the highlight of the meal. We also received the complimentary chips and salsa. While the chips were inoffensive enough, the salsa looked like it had come out of a jar of Ortega or Old El Paso. Unfortunately, it had even less flavor. The menu is very limited to some Mexican restaurant staples--tacos, enchiladas, burrito, fajitas, chimichanga, and carne asada. We both ordered the burrito stuffed with chorizo. I will say the burritos were large, and the chorizo was smoky with an OK bite. However, the presentation left something to be desired. The guacamole, sour cream, and pico were all served in small side bowls with chip fragments sticking out of them. The server asked if we wanted hot sauce, which he brought to the table in a similar bowl. We have been to Mexican restaurants from Seattle to Austin, and from Southern Cali to D.C. We know good Mexican food, and Coyote Flaco was muy disappointing. One star for the sangria, and one star for everything else. read more

I've been to Coyote Flacco a few times. The food is tasty and well prepared. Seasoning is more subtle than spicy. I like the enchiladas with mole. The service has always been prompt and courteous, even when they're busy. I will say that it's a little pricey for Mexican and that the portions are not huge (I'm under 170 and always leave wanting more). But overall it's a fine place for dinner. read more

We stopped in coming back from a construction job. Looking in the windows at the linen tablecloths and napkins, handblown glasses, and Spanish style tile bar,we were afraid for our budgets at first. Even the bathroom stalls are custom birch plywood with tile flooring! But needn't have worried. Prices were very reasonable for the quality, entrees come with chips, great chicken salad and two kinds of salsa, and sides of Mexican salad (beans, corn, onion, etc) guac, and more. Most meals were between $12-15. My chicken with julienne vegs was delicious, and an interesting twist. Drink selection was very good also, Margaritas looked good, but went with Mexican Petit Syrah. My husband and I stopped here at 9pm for a late dinner. It had been suggested to us by the owner of the B&B we were staying at. With a burrito at $12, we decided to split one to save money. We were able to snack on the free chips and salsa. While we waited, a man came up and serenaded us with his guitar. He was amazing. When the burrito arrived, it was a perfect amount for the two of us. I couldn't even finish my half. As for the taste - it was the most amazing burrito I have ever had.
