Had to get some more samples of paint for my kitchen/family room. Choosing paint is without a doubt the hardest decision in remodeling. I can see why most people just go with various shades of white! I want a few variations of color so got another 10 little sample paints from Cox Paint. All of the guys there are very helpful, they have a good sense of what goes with what. One of the colors I chose was one of the most popular colors they sell, so hopefully that will look good. Frank at the Santa Monica store is the genius with color, but didn't have time to get over there. Chose colors from the Benjamin Moore color chart, though my designer says that Pratt Lambert is really the best. read more

Solid paint store with good service, supplies, and advice. I've been coming for years and am a DIYer. Much better than the box stores. And they carry Benjamin Moore Pearl finish, which I cannot get at bigger stores. There is a color consultant by appointment, too. read more

I've been coming here for years because I prefer Benjamin Moore paint over other brands. I just had a paint color matched to stucco for a job at this location. The color wasn't even close to matching. When I went back to the store to have them adjust the color, they told me there was nothing they could do to adjust the color. The guy informed me that he went to school to learn how to match color, and had 20 years experience. Then he showed me all the paint that they messed up and had to throw in the trash. Doesn't really make you feel confident in their color matching skills. He might want to think about going back to school. Seems kind of strange to me, I've had paint matched at other paint stores and they were always able to make adjustments to the color to match, no problem. So, I basically had to eat the paint I purchased here. Not very happy. read more

This iS the Husband of a crazy lady that convinced me that she was right and Cox just helped her prove she could not only patch and match the stucco paint on our house but make it so perfect, you can not tell where we did the touch up! My Wife took a sample of the peeling paint to have Cox match the color and bingo, a perfect color match for what I thought was and impossible task. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Paint has totally ruined my car. The can fell over due to braking in Los Angeles traffic - went everywhere because the lid wasn't on properly. Then I get yelled at by the man at the front and am told I need to buy new paint. Will never come back here again and hope that others are careful about their practices. read more

I just had a horrible experience at this location. I went in the morning and stood in line and every contractor or painter that walked in was given service before me and I wasn't even spoken to. When I asked if I could leave my order on a piece of paper and come back and pick it up, which I have done in the past, they did not respond to me. The main employee behind the desk actually called me a bitch to another customer in front of me. So I walked out. I have never had service like that before. And will never go back to support this business. I usually buy Benjamin Moore paint at Osh hardware on Bundy and they are absolutely amazing. read more

I like Benjamin Moore Natura so I am stuck with this place as its the closest. The color match is rarely right for me, last time i made a fuss as they were so far off that they fave me my money back. From past yelps i see im not the only one. The thing is , when I just looked on the BM website for a registered retailer Cox's name was not on it . Either way I will be looking for another zero smell and good coverage that I can get elsewhere . read more

I usually get good service and some opinions on painting at COX. I do like the Benjamin Moore paint and the colors, but my painter said the Behr from Home Depot is better quality for less money. The coupon Cox had helps when you buy paint in smaller quantities. The colors are fairly close to the sample. I think though the Ben Moore paint tends to cover the wall (with a different color) a little better. And if you are a beginner or amateur painter or need help, it's a nice place to get educated about what to do to paint your home. It's also fast because there is less of a line. It does cost more, but if you aren't using say, twenty gallons of paint, this might just be the place for you. Home Depot does have a wider variety of paint colors, but I think they can match it at Cox, though takes time. Sometimes Home Depot just has too many people and it's usually hard to ask questions or get help, thus I tend to spend twice as much time there than at Cox. read more

The staff at this location has been really helpful through several painting projects. Admittedly, I have a hard time choosing colors and I end up with several very similar colors that I'm trying to decide between. The staff know the colors so well that I can explain my complaint with one and they'll have another recommendation for me. Very helpful. The staff also know the products very well - I'm about to paint my kitchen cabinets and they were happy to walk me through the different kinds of products that I had to choose from. I tend to research a lot and the information they give is always consistent with what I research vs. some big box stores where they might not know the nuances of the different product choices. The manager is really awesome too. He's very friendly and more than happy to help with advice - he's helped me out several times. There are also color consultants available most of the time. They'll help make recommendations and also help explain the undertones in the paints you're choosing. All in all, it's a great paint store. I've written a review for another LA paint store that more than pales in comparison. I definitely recommend this place for all your paint needs! read more

Rude Customer Service. Don't come here if you are a woman or a homeowner with a small project. We came here many times over this summer because it is nearby, to purchase sanding and painting materials. Their service has been consistently rude, with sullen unfriendly men standing around looking as if they would rather not help you. After asking for some technical advice on how to refinish a wood sill, I was sold the wrong paint roller which left fibers in the finish, and caused hours of additional work to remedy the problem. When I returned for advice on how to remedy the problem, I was told that the problem was that I had used the wrong roller. I told them I had used the one they told me to use- but they didn't even respond. Infuriating! They also did not have a complete selection of buffing pads which (through online research) I needed to remedy the problem, and was told I should look in a hardware store. Home Depot carries full selection of buffing pads, right in the paint section. These guys are rude, and give bad advice, and have a limited selection. Don't expect customer service. read more

Great paint but terrible customer service. For a person who just does DIY and won't know all the details of how much color is needed - watch out. I got recommended to buy way more paint than I needed and I had a very exact calculation of sqft. Guy told me not to worry that I can bring back paint.... Well, he did not mention that the custom paint can't be returned (simply white). Great, not to mention it but it is written on the label. I learned my lesson and should have known better but I would also expect better service. I have never worked with any retail establishment of any kind that had better customer service than this store. I worked with Carol and Frank and both went above and beyond every time I talked to them to help me get exactly what I needed to paint the exterior of my house, which I did. I was very particular about the colors I wanted and couldn't be happier. They were absolutely amazing, knowledgeable and extremely nice. They also didn't make me feel like they were doing me a favor by helping me like so many other people do in other places. I'm sure they are representative of everyone who works there and I plan to let the owners of the company know. I will never shop for paint anywhere else! read more
