Great paint selection and wonderful staff. I'm a diyer and I'm painting one of my rooms with dark brown possibly black walls. The staff helped me understand undercoats and was very helpful overall in looking at the color samples. They also pointed out that the colors will change hue from different angles. This piece of advice helped me to slow my "paint" roll and more carefully consider how the room/s to be painted are lit by sunlight and lamplight. Thank you! read more

Today is Sunday, 19 October. I called the store a few hours ago and spoke to a gentleman who had to return my call as he was the only guy in the store today. he returned my call within a few minutes, which was great and I told him how much I appreciated that. When I got to the store, there was a sign on the window saying out to lunch until 355. I had arrived at 3:30 sitting in my car. I saw the employee going into the building so I knocked on the door and told him im the guy who called and he just kept pointing at the sign saying he was not gonna be available until 355. So I left. Maybe management should train people to let people know on the phone what their lunch hours are when they're gonna close the store for lunch. Love your paint. read more

The quality of F&B is highly over rated. I work for one of those Hollywood producers which uses an interior decorator for advice on what paint to use. Unfortunately, this paint is very watered down, and even with 2 coats on top of primer, it still doesn't cover as well as one single coat of sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore. I refuse to work with this brand. It's highly over priced, and if she wants to give me colors by f&b, I just take them to cox paints or Home Depot and get it matched by a competitor brand. Benjamin Moore is half the price, and covers twice as well. Don't waste your money on this "designer" crap. read more

I picked up paint from the store on La Cienega - needed extra so went in for one. more - they gave me the wrong finish - the order is in the computer for the last two gallons but the apparently messed up anyway. I put the paint on - four weeks later and it smells horrible still. I brought in another painter and he told me it was because the paint sits on their shelves for so long it goes bad. Rotten. And that's what makes it smell forever. Just a warning. The paint is not worth it. Color match if you really love their colors. read more

Terrible costumer service . Came in on a Saturday. Arrived @ Noon . Rude girl said she was closing for 45 minutes for a company required break . After driving for 45 minutes not what I wanted to hear . She let me in 45 minutes later . Was as rude as could be . I have a painting business . If one of my employees was even half as rude they would be fired in the spot . I decided to also be rude . She refused service and made me drive 45 minutes to another Farrow and Ball for a simple sample . Needless to say I don't think Farrow and Ball would appreciate this review . I'm in the midst of a design project and made my first visit to F&B today. The store is beautiful and expertly designed. Madelyn helped me and was friendly and informative. She told me the store was in fact the brands flagship. The paint colors are, not surprisingly, luxurious. Some rich, bold and others elegantly understated. I took the color swatch brochure and Madelyn said I could purchase a sample of anything for $8.00 The gallon price is expensive so this is a great idea to be sure. A top level design project really calls for paint like this. I'll totally be back. read more

F and B used to have terrible customer service when I first visited their shop 6 years ago. Recently I had the pleasure of working with Madeline and Jonathan at the new store on La Cienega. The paints are pricey but with a limited palette, F & B help narrow down the choices. From there, Madeline and Jonathan patiently and expertly help guide me to my final purchases. Choosing colors can be deeply personal and subjective. M and J really know their colors at F & B and held my hand through the process. read more

The women at Farrow & Ball on Melrose SAVED me. I had been planning to order our paint direct from Farrow & Ball... they took wayyyyy too long (um, why are they sending paint from Canada to Buffalo to SF when they have a showroom in LA...?). When called directly, the Melrose showroom was able to find our paints on the shelf and get them to us in three business days (shipped ground!) for the painters to start today. AND, now that we've ended up short a gallon due to a screw-up by another stockist, they are overnighting another gallon to us. It's amazing how expensive overnighting a gallon of paint is... but the people at Farrow & Ball on Melrose were so nice and sympathetic about it that I almost felt OK about it. Why oh why did I not order ALL of our paint from them? Oh right...because I didn't realize they existed until I had already called 6 other stockists. Oh, and the paint is amazing, too. read more

Their color selection is outstanding! as someone who has painted for many years, there is a HUGE difference in using quality paint. u can pay 50$ for a gallon of trash that will cover your walls but it wont last and wont EXPLODE with color like farrow and ball does. I have actually been to the showroom in LA (recently) and i used to frequent the showroom in Bostons Design Center. My customer Service experience has been nothing but knowledgeable professionals who were friendly and knew their stuff! So...Worth the cost for great paint and great professionalism. This is a top end operation. I have been searching for wallpaper selections online and was having a tough time getting anyone on the phone at the numerous wallpaper dot coms. It is not ideal looking at colors and samples online anyway. I came across Farrow & Ball and noticed that they have a showroom in Los Angeles (West Hollywood). I figured I'd drive by and see their selections. I came in just before closing time and was greeted by Erik who did not even mention or try to rush me considering the time. Erik knew his stuff too! He guided me in selecting patterns & colors to match the building era for my application and took the initiative to ask and learn as much as he could about the project before weighing in too much with his opinion. In the end, I wound up with fantastic patterns honoring the vintage of the application while embracing a modern flair. When Erik said they would be mailing the paper from England I was nervous. When he called me 2 days later saying it would arrive the next day I was thrilled! Not sure how they did that! ... This was a great experience and I will be using them again on my next project. read more

Ridiculously expensive paint for no reason I bought one of their pains in my will look horrible and uneven. I got a professional company to come and pick my home and no matter what they did warn able to get a normal even coat of color. The day after I went to Home Depot got the same color in within one coat everything looked amazing given the price of the $25 per gallon in Home Depot comparing 110$ per gallon from them. When I complaint they blamed me for not knowing what I'm doingthey start asking all those questions if their service was so good they would have given instructions in the time of purchase and not giving me the BS about "let's send it to a test in the lab" for real?!?! read more

Five stars plus for the paint, which is fantastic, has an amazing chalky finish and covers really well. Extra pluses for color names like Mouses Back, Dead Salmon, and Arsenic, and for a brochure that will tell you "this color very nearly replicates the inlaid mahogany found on the ballroom doors of Hmphnhawney manor in Shropfordshire" and similar hilariously English descriptions. It IS expensive, although a little goes a long way, and you should definitely call ahead or like Marie you will find yourself Fedexing paint around the globe. One star off for the completely clueless showroom staff. They do not know the colors well, and this is an issue, because the chips in the brochure do not come close to the actual paint colors. They have actual wood samples in the store, but do yourself a favor and buy sample pots. At 75 bucks a gallon, you do not want to buy a brown called "Pelt" and find out it is a royal purple ;-) read more

I live in L.A. and when I went directly to this store with my painter we were required to wait 7 days for them to acquire four of our six colors. Plan ahead! Nice, friendly people and showroom but they have very limited knowledge. United States/Canada 800 phone tech assistance isn't much help either. If you or your painter need knowledgeable assistance and accurate information, call directly to the U.K. tech line, where they're hands-on advice is brilliant and tremendously helpful. read more

They may have a nice store, they may be nice people, their product is crap. In all my years of professional painting I have never complained about a product this much. There is no body to the finish. meaning 320 grit scratches will show. It scratches instantly. a damp cloth will change the color and sheen forever. hand prints show up and cannot be cleaned. it may be good for a room that no person will ever walk into. cabinets are a terrible idea. kitchen cabinets are an even worse idea. it is however easy to get out of your brush. read more

Farrow and Ball is the BEST paint ever! I love their palette... well edited... and the showroom staff at the Melrose location was helpful and lovely. I can't remember the name of the woman who assisted me, but she had an art background, and really did give some great advice. She suggested some colors and pairings to which I may not have gravitated on my own. Not your typical paint store employee, but then again, this is not exactly your typical paint store. Definitely invest in sample pots, paint a poster board with each color you're considering, and walk them around your house. The color is so richly pigmented that it really takes on a life of it's own depending on the lighting, time of day, etc. It's hard to explain-- you just have to see it in action. My painter was initially skeptical about "the $100 gallons", as we'd jokingly refer to them. But when the paint went up, we fell in love with it. Really good coverage, nice to work with, and so beautiful. It has a real warmth, depth, and richness to it-- particularly, the most matte finish. He (and I) now recommend F&B Paint to anyone who is looking for a really 'special' result. (And while I'm not normally a wallpaper fan, F&B's wallpaper is truly stunning.) read more

Nice color selection, but HORRIBLE costumer service. They made me go through high hell to return a package they messed up on and now refused to give me a refund on a package I never open because It was supposedly was damage. They basically stole 130$ out of my pocket and treated me like dirt the whole way threw. This company is my last choice next time. The WOMEN who work there should find a new job! read more
