I brought my 19 year old son to Cox Medical North after he had metal shavings get into his eyes and he was having trouble seeing (pain and blurry vision). They checked to see if he had a scratched cornea and didn't see any problems, so they diagnosed him with conjunctivitis. I questioned them about their diagnosis since earlier in the day he had been cutting metal before he experienced pain and blurred vision. I also mentioned that this did not present like the conjunctivitis I had seen in the past (no discharge). They assured me of the diagnosis and sent him home with antibiotic drops. His eyes continued to get worse. I called urgent care the next day. They told me to go get an over-the-counter flush and try to fully flush his eyes out (He had used water the previous day but was unsuccessful). They were surprised the ER didn't flush out his eyes. We bought the flush at Walmart and flushed out his eyes. Low and behold, the pain immediately stopped! It did take a few days for the blurriness to go away, but it did go away. Here is my problem: * The ER did not flush his eyes * They misdiagnosed him even with all the info about his job * They billed $2000 for doing nothing If possible, stay away from this hospital. read more

I went to Cox north for therapy after a knee replacement and was really impressed with everything about my experience. The staff was personable and polite, the therapists were professional and very knowledgeable, the facility was a bit dated but clean and quite useable. I went again a couple of years later and was more impressed by the therapists. All were great and personable, taking the time to get MY problems handled, not just running me through the system. I understand that they are remodeling now. read more

Trying to reach an actual person seems impossible. 51 minute wait to pay my bill! ER has some good staff, and sine not so good staff. They neglected to see a huge wax infection in my daughters ear that led to another urgent care visit weeks later! The bills before insurance absolutely crazy, and my first bill they neglected to send to my insurance even. Needs new head imo. On the non emergency side I do like the ease of appointment making for Dr Isakkson, great staff and her very welcoming and kind demeanor. read more

We went in on 4/21/22 we were there till past 3 am . we were in er16 room it was not clean, the bed was sticky and had spots where you could tell someone else had been in there and not cleaned since, the floors had dirt and debris. There was stuff all over the wall . Very unsanitary for a hospital of any sort especially during the COVID 19 pandemic. mentioned room conditions multiple times and even got laughed at by one of the staff. very late Super long wait times when the unit is empty. My loved one went in to receive psychiatric help. The staff were super uncaring they have absolutely no compassion, empathy or sympathy towards there patients. The patient asked for a pillow and instead the staff stood around laughing. The rn was super rude too that night . They wouldn't even tell us if they were admitting him or not , knowing I needed to get home before my ride back home went to bed and I would be stranded . They refused to help me get home or offer helpful suggestions I was just told I could only stay till they take him up no buses running and a very big safety hazard if I were to walk. Luckily I called a local cab company and explained my situation and they were nice enough to come get me for no charge . I'm attaching a few photos of the room . This all unacceptable. Definitely staff attitudes were completely unacceptable in a mental health crisis too... imagine what may happen if your loved one came here alone.... read more

Cox North Cafeteria- This is a handy idea for those of us who work in this building. BUT their prices are SKY HIGH- seriously... a chicken wrap, fries, and drink for $9.58, AFTER the employee discount?? NOT worth it! They need to lower their prices significantly. This is for food served in styrofoam! They will be losing my business. I recommend going out to a sit-down restaraunt- it will end up saving you money. read more

Disgusting how this hospital is run very unclean unkept ugly my son was discharged and not referred for immediate care when he had a paintbrush in his penis he was cat scanned and had 2 ultrasounds done he is autistic with ADHD and they knew all of this and didn't care to recommend further treatment... He could've died!!! read more

This hospital is often overlooked in the shadow of Cox South and Mercy, but if you are in the area, it is worth going to. The ER is quick and caring, as is all the staff at this hospital. This is one of the oldest hospitals in Springfield, and still a valuable asset to the community read more

Worst I've ever experienced. 3 weeks ago I had a large tumor removed out of my shoulder resulting in an incision from the bottom neck to my elbow, and 37 staples. I was still bleeding profusely and in so much pain I had to leave work to go there. I'm new in area so surgery was done in another state, I was bleeding everywhere and my blood pressure was 198/168. I waited back in waiting room and was called back for a room, doctor came in and made a remark, " what kind of surgeon did your surgery"? I said well it was an oral surgeon, wtf, who do you think did it I told him of course an orthopedic surgeon, he took the dressing off took 13 staples out and told nurse to wrap it up and discharge me. I asked what to do when I'm bleeding out in an hour and was told to call my surgeon, we won't do much because we didn't do it, so I left bleeding everywhere and with stroke level blood pressure!!!! What kind of hospital refuses to do blood work or a scan or ultrasound when I have great insurance, needless to say I drove out of this state and immediately was admitted into another hospital where I was for 4 days to get my blood pressure under control, they did an angiogram and I'm gonna have to have it opened back up to fix some ruptured blood vessels along with the infection I now have. I've travelled the country and can say with 100% certainty that Missouri healthcare is an absolute travesty, in Texas They take you right back and get your pain under control immediately and get you comfortable before they start all the tests, and that's the right way to treat a patient it shouldn't matter that they didn't do my surgery, they want to transfer me here but with my wife pregnant with triplets and a special needs daughter there's no doubt in my mind I won't be able to, it seems Cox has a monopoly on healthcare here so I wouldn't be able to even find a doctor for my wife much less one that deals with special needs children. I have been a patient of FMCC for 9 years and have seen them go through at least 100 residents who move on after 3 years or so. At first I really liked this doctor office but the past few years it has rapidly declined. They have implemented several policies that are ludicrous and make it harder on the patients. Myself and my 3 children have a skin condition called eczema and after 20 years of me trying different creams and medicines along with trying stuff for my children for 8 years, the nurse practitioner prescribed a steroid cream and it worked perfectly. When we have flare ups this is the only thing we have found that actually helps. I always like to carry a tube in my purse and keep one in the medicine cabinet for when we need it. So yesterday I discovered we were down to half a tube left so I called my pharmacy for them to request a refill. I received a call from the doctors nurse and they wouldn't refill my prescription until the little pimply face kid calling himself a doctor made sure I got a lecture on the long term effects of using a topical steroid cream. I have had asthma, allergies and eczema my entire life I have been on some form of steroid for it all I know the effects and I also know that when you have a chronic condition and find something that works you stick with it! So they approved my request but wouldn't put any other refills on it when they used to give me at least 3 refills each time. So now next time we need this medicine I will have to call the doctor and hope the kid will approve it. Ridiculous I'm looking for another pediatrician who knows that a patient knows their own body and conditions. read more

The Er is quick if you are in the area, but the medical center is aweful. I see different doctors on different color teams all the time. The first one yiu see is cinsidered the primary even if a NP. I have been having pain in my back for 16 years with no meds and was treated like a junkie! I was told i would not be seen anymire if it was related to my back and she is a NP. I was supposed to make a follow up when taken to Cox South via ambulance and found my disks were now gone and would not be seen. I begged for my referral for a pain management doctor finally got that and was reminded they were not going to give me pain medication long term. FYI when I was seen by a real doctor they were shocked and reviewing my xrays were suprised no one saw the amount of damage. I also went to cox north for an od rash on my leg and foot. The did take a sample from my foot and my rash turned to large swelling. I was then told i am allergic to NSAIDS which all I ever Took was IBprophen. I went to a walk in clinic to be told these doctors are practicing to get their hours in to have their degrees. I agree they need to get expierience, but who is overlooking their treatments! read more
