A very exciting new addition to the Brisbane food & bar scene is Cowch in Southbank's Grey Street.
Touted as Queensland's first dessert & cocktail bar, it has a great range of desserts, cocktails, cakes, pastries, frozen yogurt, churros, cheese, cold and hot drinks, cocktails, mocktails, beers, wines, as well as "healthy" breakfast options. Which all sound "udderly" delicious.
Think quirky (with all the cow related decor; just look up at the ceiling), fun and sweet. The space inside is shiny and sexy with floating fireplace, and a long wooden communal table which gives it a slightly homestead feel.
Cowch is to the dessert and bar scene, what Ariana Grande is to pop music. Refreshing, and gorgeous.
Sure, I could have ordered most of what was on the menu, but I only have two stomachs. One for dessert, and one for drinks!
Decided to go with the signature dish of Udder Puffs $12.50 (served with three chosen toppings; cookies and cream, tim tam, coconut, as well as chocolate ice-cream). If that wasn't enough, I ordered a "Naked Pop" (peppermint flavour), dipped in dark kchocolate, with almond, pistachio, and "chocolate pearl" (which actually were pink). To wash down this goodness, I decided a perfect cocktail was required. "Southbank Mule" a mix of vanilla vodka, fresh ginger, soda, lime and mint.
With the upbeat music playing rhythmically to what was an ambient atmosphere, everything felt just right. Service was excellent, (although the staff didn't really know too much about how the concept of "Cowch" came about), and of course, everything we ordered was sweet as! If I had one piece of feedback, it would be that the cocktail, perhaps had a tad too much ginger, which overpowered the vodka and mint. The coffee afterwards was fairly average, not necessarily my flavour.
All in all, an impressive venue, perfect for any night of the week.
