I only gave one star because I was forced to; otherwise it would be zero stars. This "ice cream" store was only one of two ice cream shops close to our hotel with in walking distance during our first trip to New Bern. They advertised over 60 flavors of ice cream. Not only did they have limited flavors, the ice cream they did have was freezer burnt and old. Very Poor customer service from the staff and the store did not appear to be very clean. My advice is to stay away or take the drive to a real ice cream store. read more

My family and I have come to Moo Cow Cafe every year for Christmas for the last 15 years. We came today and had the worst experience yet! They did not have the Christmas ice cream they always have, the girl at the counter was extremely disrespectful on multiple occasions, as well as the food prices have gone up and items no longer come with a side. Love this sweet place!! While killing some time before an appointment, we decided to have an early lunch. Their ice cream is heavenly and so is their food! Another hyped up place that totally failed to deliver in New Bern. We came in for an ice cream treat, the afternoon of Labor Day. I ordered a banana split and found a table. A few minutes later, I was called up to the counter to be told that they had run out of bananas :(( Since I had not a chose a plan B for my order, I just got 2 scoops of ice cream. I chose Cappuccino and Heath. Cappuccino was ok, Heath was not good at all...so I left it in the cup. After visiting several establishments in the area, I understand that New Bern is NOT a place for foodies. This ice cream was mediocre at best and the service was not really much to be excited about either. The place is decorated with all cow decor making it different, but also very childish. Great little place in New Bern. The decor is very nice, all cow-related. They even have a model train running around the top of the walls with cow decorated cars. Oh, by the way, the food is good too! We each had wraps and they were both delicious. We topped it off with Berry Cheesecake ice cream for the wife and an Zooey-Gooey Chocolate Chip cookie for me. The food and service were great! I was dismayed to discover, however, that even dining in, the food is served on a disposable plastic plate with a disposable plastic fork, and the water came in a styrofoam cup that says "An average weight, paper hot cup with a cardboard sleeve generates 379% more solid waste by weight than a comparable foam cup." As if the same foam cup doesn't produce more waste by volume for and as if the styrofoam won't continue to occupy that same volume of space long after the paper cup degrades. The blatant disregard for the health of our environment and dissemination of anti-environmental propaganda will keep me from from returning. It's too bad.
