Lyons Plumbing

What an amazing experience with Mark from Lyons!…read more 5+ stars for service, quality, and value. My husband asked several plumbers for quotes, and Mark was the first to reply, right away. He gave us a fair estimate based on the problem description and scheduled a visit immediately. True to his word, he quoted the exact cost when he arrived. During his first visit, Mark was thorough, answered every question, and explained everything clearly. He fixed half the issue on the spot and returned the next day to finish the job. Because the old valve was badly installed and the surrounding "box" cracked when it was removed, Mark went above and beyond. He replaced the whole box and the new valves, a service that would normally cost an extra$200, but he didn't charge us a cent for it. He tested everything before leaving, and when I mentioned our weak‑pressure shower, he instantly diagnosed the cause, explained what caused it, and showed me the issue, and fixed it at no additional cost. I also asked about the slow draining sink, and Mark handed me a tool to remove the debris and showed me how to access the clog. Again, this was free of charge. Mark assured us that Lyons' labor and parts come with a one‑year warranty and that the components used are built to last. In today's world, it's hard to trust someone you don't know, but Mark made us feel completely comfortable and at ease. We're thrilled with the service and will gladly refer Mark and Lyons to anyone needing plumbing or drainage help! We will no longer be looking for another plumber again.

The drain guys did a comprehensive review of all the pipes found the problem and was able to implement a sleeve instead of digging up the floor, the other company didn't even provide a video for $1000 though they did fix the initial problem by clearing the clog. I had a few great, albeit expensive, experiences with Drain Guys. When I had another issue,…read morewithout hesitation I trusted them and they were the first and only call. However, the solution required multiple holes in various walls and ceiling and admittedly I got anxious. I am a single woman dealing with this alone. The plumber who was here took issue with me questioning him. I had my contractor/handyman here to open the walls and at one point I asked him "why is this guy so impatient with me." Only deal with these folks if you are not going to have questions. After opening up all do the holes as he instructed, he texts the day of the work (2 days later) that he would not come back do the work because I "did not trust him." They were only here because I trusted them. He fundamentally could not be questioned by anyone or maybe it's because I am woman which I do think is the case. Stay away if you are going to have questions or they will leave your home with 1/2 dozen large holes in ceiling and walls a NO WORK DONE because " .... questioning us made me really uncomfortable with proceeding the task and I can not do something if I can get questioned of my experience and expertise " direct from his text. Now, I am forced to find a new plumber who may have another approach and require more demolition. BTW I have worked dozens of service providers and contractors over decade and NEVER had this issue with ANYONE! In my line of work as a client facing person, I expect to be questioned and would never walk away from a client because they asked questions.

Ehrhardt Brothers Quality Plumbing

(145 reviews)

Saved by Ehrhardt Brothers Quality Plumbing! (West of Baltimore, a.k.a ColumbiaPlumber)…read more Sunday evening, our water felt less hot than usual. Monday, it was only as warm as we keep the house, and only as much water as there is in the pipes! Our gas water-heater failed! Bad timing, too. Last week was what Chicago calls Fools'-Spring ... around 70°. But this week was back to Second-Winter, 30° (Mar 2026). And the next warm days, which Chicago calls the "Spring-of-Deception", is still ten days away. There was water leaking from the heater. This is considered the calm before the 50-gallon tsunami. If this is home-remedy advice, First call a friend who has successfully navigated this problem. Next shut off the gas and then the pilot. Next shut off the water inlet. Your friend will have at least one plumber to recommend. (They will enjoy that...) If your garden hose isn't frozen to the spigot, drain the water tank. If frozen, spend a sleepless night with the 24/7 plumber's number on speed-dial. We chose #2.  We made it through the night. Two of our friend's recommendations were small-businesses, our preference, and we asked all three for quotes and availability. Ehrhardt was ready to offer a price based on our descriptions and photos, of course with caveats for anything unexpected. I considered their bid to be a pretty-penny, but I'll say it was less than our friend's expectation, and more than our friend in Cleveland expected. A fair price. They came the next morning, and it might have been sooner if we had called right away. We cleared a path for them through the house, and they had the water heater replaced in 90min. Impressive. We went out for St. Pat's. But what we should have done was what they told us: check the pilot light for about 30min, and test the hot water after 60 to 90min. We came home to cold water. I'll admit some grumpiness. We called in the morning, and they came back in a jiffy (our apologies to everyone else who had appointments that day). In 30min, they figured it out: a faulty pilot in the new, just-unboxed water heater. They had a replacement part over-nighted. The next morning, in 30min, done. This time we did as told: checked the pilot after 20min (and nervously, an extra time again after that). Still lit! The second time we checked, the hot water outlet was noticeable warm. By 60min, hot water from the faucets! By 90min, much to relief of nearly everyone i know, a piping hot shower. AAAAAHHH :-) Ok, so how does three visits equal 5-stars! The hardest question answered first: Because the problem was the manufacturer's fault, and Ehrhardt handled it flawlessly: Excellent communication by Ehrhardt, priority attention to our problem, no excuses, just fast resolution. Great service staff, from the office to my house. Fair price. I admit that I'm writing this in the after-glow of that hot shower. This could be the start of a beautiful situationship.

The first time ge apologized so we thought it was a fluke, but his text on Friday saying he would see us today was meaningless We spent two full days waiting for him to arrive and my husband spent a lot of time cleaning, taking things out from under the cabinets and putting them up on our bathroom counters so that Shawn could actually work on the sinks. We've had boxes on our bathroom counters for 3 weeks now. I actually needed to go to a headache clinic today because I was very sick with a horrible 3 day migraine, but we couldn't leave the house if Shawn was eventually coming. I have notified the friend who referred us to him as well as everyone in my HOA's Facebook group because he was recommended by her and I needed to let others know that Shawn is not a reliable plumber. Baded on all the other 1 srar reviews, i anticipate Shawn will respond and say it's somehow our fault, like he has done with all the other bad reviews, but all we did was try to give him a job to do. We are taking our service elsewhere, likely Tuckers.

There must have been a small leak in the connection as I wiped it dry one day and the next day when I checked, it was a little wet. Had another plumber access and come and fix it and he said the pipe was not sealed correctly on the original install, so it obviously cost me money to repair it. Granted this was 4 years later but still I would not expect an issue 4 years after getting a new hot water heater installed, so you can be the judge if thats an unreasonable expectation.
