The cortado was really smooth and not just straight up milk flavor. The iced latte tho was not great, I couldn't taste any of the coffee and it was pretty muted. Wouldn't be my first spot but if someone really wanted it I'd be good to get a cortado again.

The staff were absolutely wonderful via phone and email addressing my questions and concerns. Upon arrival I was astonished at how cute this place was. The outside hostess directed me to the inside host. I immediately saw some of my guest at a lovely long table set up in the back center. Our attentive waiter came over to bring us menus. Unfortunately most of my guests got caught up in the torrential downpour and were running behind. The waiter assured me that we were quite alright to wait if we preferred. I decided to start with a cocktail. The testa Rossa was recommended. I ended up giving it to my husband as it was rather strong and I did not taste watermelon nor coconut. I went with the second recommendation of the strawberry bliss. Another strong drink which the gin overpowered the other flavors. I may skip the cocktails if I come back as I did not fancy either of the ones I tasted. I tried some of Lisa's sunflower seed toast which came with the cutest set up of butter and delicious apricot and strawberry jam. For my lunch I decided on the Cacio de Pepe which was cheesily delicious and transported me back to Rome. Now for the star of the show, the Principessa which was probably the best cakes I've ever had. Each bite is so light with subtle lemon, vanilla and whipped cream, it practically melts in your mouth. I washed down the cake with a cappuccino Viennese. On my way out I took the time to walk over to the dessert and pastries counter where I spied my next selection for my next visit. Overall it was a fantastic day minus the weather which I did not allow to rain on the celebration of my special day.

With working overnight and getting back in the early morning, I would be craving "dinner" at 7am versus a breakfast spread. I found a lot of places selling breakfast at these early hours, but Johan's Joe was the only place I found that sold lunch items. On my first visit here, I got their Swedish meatballs platter and a lavender cardamom lemonade. I instantly fell in love. In fact, out of the 15 days of staying in West Palm Beach, I ate at Johan's Joe 11 times. Every single time I'd get a plate of Swedish meatballs. I also began to try out other items, like their waffles on the weekend, scrambled eggs, bacon, and soup. All fantastic. For beverages, I always got their lavender cardamom lemonade and later discovered the orange juice to be really good, too. How did I manage to eat Swedish meatballs 11 times in 2 weeks? I was curious, too. Upon reflecting, I realized how perfect the platter really is. It offers perfect balance. Let me explain: Texturally, there's a crispness from the pickled cucumbers, a slight pop from the whole lingonberries, a bounce from the meatballs, and creaminess from the mashed potatoes and gravy. The dish also has a mix of sweetness (lingonberries), tartness (pickled cucumbers), and salt (meatballs). There's even a mix of temperatures with the main platter being hot, while the lingonberries and cucumbers are cold. With only time to eat one meal a day, this turned out to have everything on one plate. Exactly what I craved and needed. The service here was very friendly, all the employees were polite and offered great service. It was also nice to see that there were also a handful of local regulars who I'd see every time. They definitely know how to create a welcoming and cozy spot. After leaving the area, I found myself actually missing this spot quite a bit. I will be back again for work soon, so I'll be able to get my meatball fix again. Thanks, Johan's Joe!
