My boyfriend and I needed the car inspected because we're switching auto insurance so we drove from Manhattan (UES) to Astoria since this spot had great Yelp reviews. We were in and out in 15 minutes. The nice woman who did our inspection wore her mask (over her nose thank you very much), was sweet and very efficient. I called this business last night while I was driving from work because I keep a very busy schedule to find out about setting up an appointment for the carco inspection for geico. I don't remember the name of the young lady that answered but I explained to her that I was driving and if I could make an appointment over the phone and she said no you have to make it online. We literally live around the corner and we're trying to be accommodated but that's okay. I will just try elsewhere where it is more convenient for me to make an appointment over the phone. I've never had to make an appointment only online for a car inspection when I live around the corner and it takes 5 minutes. I will go elsewhere! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! Booked an appointment online for an insurance inspection. Called a few days before to push the appointment a week later, I show up today and no one is there. The office looks like a tornado went through it and the door is locked. I call the number and am told there's no one with my name for an appointment today but there's an appointment for two weeks ago. Worst shop ever and the funny thing is even after I figured that out they still tried to bs. First they scheduled an adjuster to go see the car after the car's been with them for over 10 days like they're the busiest shop around and gave some bs lowball estimate to fix my car which I knew was ridiculous so I had it towed to a reputable shop that's affiliated with my insurance company and guess what happened? The car was totalled because the repair cost was more than double the bs estimate they originally gave. I know shops will be shops but these guys are crooks and on top they tried spewing bs like they're the only shop that uses original parts and they guarantee for life blah blah but if they were a legit shop and did any kind of research, they'd know the shop affiliated with the insurance company also use original parts, guarantee for life, certified by different car companies and has a much better rep. And I don't know how they were going to fix the frame of a $65k car and order multiple "original" parts from Germany and charge labor for 15k but what do I know, right? If they think they can still bs me into letting them fix my car after all the bs already, I don't know what they're on lol After all the headache of getting my brand new baby destroyed by a drunk idiot, I had to deal with these guys trying to insult my intelligence like it's my first time dealing with a shop which just puts the icing on the cake. Went for insurance inspection. She took me ahead of my scheduled time and finished very quickly and also helped to provide us with an additional recent problem. Someone swiped our new car and the driver door was unable to open enough to get in. A kind member of the shop spent time and helped to do what he could so that the door could open until we are able to take the car in for proper repairs. Stay away!!! This place is not good at all. There is no kind of customer service whatsoever. The office is really run down,no seating, no customer service and the secretary is very rude over the phone, telling me how insurance works, when in fact she does not know everything. The repair was not so good also! They did not put all the pieces back together properly and actually left off parts(cutting corners). They put something in the back of the vehicle and dirtied the seat. When I went to pick up the vehicle there was no explanation of what they did, just sign here and give me the money kind of attitude. Since I'm mechanically inclined I'll buy the missing pieces and do the finishing repairs myself. As a business graduate and practitioner I see why businesses fail all the time, ahhhh case studies coming to life. Just a few simple changes could make a business prosper!!! read more
