I had a really uncomfortable experience at this store. I was shopping with my friend and having a private conversation with her about whether I should purchase a bikini in-store or order it online. Another customer walked in and happened to be interested in the exact same bikini, which was the last one available. Instead of understanding that I was simply discussing my options with my friend, the employee accused me of price comparing because the other customer was interested in the same bikini. I was not speaking to or interacting with the other customer, nor was I trying to interfere with her purchase in any way. I was simply having a private conversation with my friend and deciding whether I wanted to buy the item. I found the way the situation was handled unnecessary and uncomfortable. Customers should be able to have a private conversation while shopping without being accused of something based on an assumption. read more

Coutula LA is a cute boutique in the middle of everything Abbot Kinney. I love the cozy cottage where it's located, it's different, it makes it for a fun shopping experience, exploring hidden corners, all the nooks and crannies. The merchandise is nice, high quality, hip, trendy items, sure, it's pricey, but if you dig enough, you might find more reasonably priced clothes and jewelry. Good customer services, the ladies who work here are nice and helpful. Street parking. If you stroll on Abbot Kinney, pop inside, Coutula it's one of a kind place. read more

Very unique and stylish clothes, handbags, belts, jewelry, you name it! And the customer service was excellent! A very friendly young lady encouraged me to take the messenger bag off of the hook and try it on, then suggested other items that I might like. I felt welcomed and appreciated (unlike a few other boutiques on Abbot Kinney...). There was such a varied selection of merchandise that I could have spent hours in there! Prices were not cheap, but fair when you consider the quality and uniqueness of may of the items. They had local items, imported merchandise and highlighted many up and coming designers. Sweet cottage style store in the heart of Abbot Kinney's hustle and bustle, one you would like to see more of on the block. Fun and inviting interior, with lots of treasures to choose from. One of the few locally-owned businesses left on this street, which is rapidly becoming a corporate flagship street. How many $200 t-shirts does a corporation need to sell to cover $15,000 per month rent? None! It's a marketing expense to be absorbed into the larger marketing budget. How many $120 vegan leather jackets that looks awesome can you find on this pricey street? Only at Coutula. Her styles look much more expensive than they are. As a business owner in Venice I have been following this thread. Although I don't know the owner of Coutula (been in the store and love it) I believe she was absolutely correct in not honoring a PROMOTIONAL voucher after it had been expired for a number of weeks as the owner has claimed. California law protects GIFT cards and GIFT certificates because they have been paid in full. A PROMOTIONAL voucher is a SALE item that gives you an opportunity, as in a sale in the store, to pay anywhere from 20% to 75% off the cost of the merchandise or service. Stores in CA are allowed to have promotional sales to move their merchandise for a period of time that has a beginning and an end. Although it seems as if, Wendy, from Buy With Me, was trying in earnest to remedy this situation they actually misrepresented the law thereby making me decide that I might never make this kind of deal with them or any of these other promotional websites. As far as I can make out it seems that the only person who was "clearly up to par with California business legalities" was the store owner. read more
