I recently stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott for two nights in room 415. Overall, my stay was pleasant, and I want to start by saying the staff were very kind and courteous. The location was also perfect and very convenient for everything we needed during our visit. However, there were a few issues that affected our comfort. The mattress in our room was extremely worn, with a noticeable sink that made it uncomfortable to sleep on. When the sheets were removed, we also noticed a yellow stain on the mattress protector, which was concerning. In addition, the shower was leaking. The refrigerator in the room was not working. We contacted the front desk, but unfortunately, it could not be repaired or replaced. This was especially concerning since we had medications that required refrigeration. Due to the cold weather, we were able to store them in our car, but that was not an ideal solution. Lastly, the pool area appeared to need more attention, as it did not seem thoroughly cleaned. Overall, some aspects of cleanliness and maintenance throughout the hotel could use improvement. The staff and location were definite positives, but I felt it was important to share this feedback so these issues can be addressed for future guests. read more

While spending a few days in New York City before heading out on a cruise, I wanted easy access to downtown without all of the hustle and bustle, and the price tag. I decided to stay at the Courtyard by Marriott in Edgewater, New Jersey. It was perfectly located in that I could see the beautiful Manhattan skyline from the hotel and getting into the city was a breeze using the bus. I appreciated being able to come back to my spacious room and unwind after a long day of exploring. The bed was comfortable and the large bathroom had ample counter space and great water pressure. So if you are planning a trip to the big city and not quite wanting to pay big city prices or deal with the headache of staying downtown, I would highly recommend checking out the Courtyard by Marriott in Edgewater. read more

This was my first time staying at this hotel. I was in town for work in New Jersey, but I appreciated the proximity to New York. When I arrived on a Monday night around 7:30, it took about 30 minutes in an Uber to Manhattan. The hotel is also conveniently located next to a small shopping center with restaurants and a nice view of the waterfront and city. The room itself was okay. The shower had a continuous slow drip of water coming out of it for the duration of my stay. I thought perhaps after housekeeping had come by, it may be reset, but the drip continued and was very annoying. On the plus side, the room had its own mini fridge and microwave. Beautiful hotel near the Hudson. Conveniently located in a little shopping center and close to other great plazas. Rooms are well kept, spacious, with comfy beds. The shower is a little tricky with the hot water needing to be turnt well past hot to get hot water. Nice breakfast buffet that's $16 per person. Beautiful gym and pool. Lots of hotel leakage problems. Ceiling was leaking on my floor and ruined my hair/shoes no care from the front desk. Day time front desk staff are unprofessional especially the front desk supervisor who claimed to be the manager but the wall plaque said otherwise. Huge attitude to multiple guests throughout the morning including myself. I signed a restaurant receipt for a certain total but then charged double the price on my room bill. Discussed this with the supervisor "manager" who claimed the restaurant's system was different than the front desk so she couldn't make changes and had an attitude about adjusting the bill when they were at fault. I would think in that her capacity as a "manager" she could make changes, no? Shrug. It was finally adjusted but with attitude. If you don't press an issue, they will try to get over on you. First it couldn't be adjusted and all of a sudden changes could be made. Weird. Parking is $15 per night with parking at the adjacent garage on the 3rd floor. No direct access to the hotel from the garage. A little far from JC/Hoboken but closer to the NY ferry near the Envue. read more

I love this location. Coming back from upstate NY and being able to quickly check in and park my car with no hassle made my day. The design of this hotel is very modern. The bathroom is my favorite part of the room. The shower is huge!!! Plus I have plenty of space for my products on the counter top. This location serves breakfast and has a happy hour in the evening. I highly recommend it if you are visiting NYC. This location is close to a bus stop that can take you in and out of nyc for under $10. read more

I researched this hotel to make sure it had electric car charging before picking the hotel. It does, but the hook up for teslas is not hooked up yet. So no charging for teslas. I asked the front desk lady if the Marriott down the street had Tesla charging she said I don't know. Not, let call and find out, let me check on it, nothing. I love this hotel ! I was on a hunt for a great hotel in the area and after calling the hotel I was sold ! The customer service ( over the phone) was amazing. They also have so many great amenities. One of the most important things for me was parking. This location offers FREE parking which is amazing compared to other hotels in the area charging about $25/day for parking. This was ultimately what sold me on booking this hotel. The hotel is also conveniently located near cute shops, Haven restaurant, and a few feet away is a breath taking view of the NYC skyline. Again. The front desk staff was so sweet. Our room was spacious, clean and beautiful. I love the gray and yellow theme. Very modern. There's a Fridge AND a microwave in the room. The bathroom has a large glass shower ( which I loved). Check-out is at 12pm ( AMAZING) There's a shuttle that will take you anywhere within 3 miles for free ( Used it and it was so convenient-Forget an Uber) There's a gym on-sight ( 24hours) and a small pool that closes at 10pm. We received chocolate during checkin and check out as well as bottles of water If the hotel offered free breakfast and had great views from the room ( our view was another building under construction) it would have been the perfect hotel. 5/5 recommend if you looking for something in the area. read more

Great location near Manhattan and close to road to reach into NJ. The plus of this area is access to roads, great food, Italian and Asian, and the hotel is newer and therefore very nice. The staff is ok, but runs the evening food and bar area sort of poorly... it's clearly not their thing. Again location is great, but the the hotel is built very poorly as you can hear everything going on around you... people walking in heels, coughing, snoring, alarms... makes the stay really hard sometimes! read more

Yep, Newark is just as crime-scene like as I recall. The hotel is okay, during COVID the room itself were alright. But the morning shuttle, apparently instead of you waiting there for it to arrive in time, requires you to tell the front desk to ask for the arrival, and made me punctually woke up at 5am for nothingness. I hate Newark and would never fly to NYC via there if it wasn't for family. Alright location for visiting NY-Jersey end but stay away if you don't have a particular reason to be close to EWR. read more

Clean modern hotel near shops and restaurants. Bistro the hotel bar/restaurant is currently opened which is great and the food is pretty decent. They are served in take out boxes. The issue i had is with people not wearing masks all over the common areas. They have signs saying masks required but they don't enforce it.. now I can be ok with maybe seeing a few here and there.. but during 10 minute eating at the lobby lounge I saw 4 people completely without a mask.. not even hanging from their chin.. as they passed by the front desk.. I asked the desk agent and her reply was that if she's busy she can't see everyone and that she cannot tell anyone to put on a mask... REALLY? Then she tells me as she points to my friend eating at the lounge with me that then she would have to tell her to put on a mask... HMMM so you won't say anything to maskless.peolel roaming around the lobby hallway and elevator but mention having to tell a diner sitting down while social distancing to put on a mask...don't know what kind of logic they use to train people here but if you are bothered by seeing maskless people all over the place while traveling esp. This is the worst experience I have ever had in my life. It is literally a nightmare. The room was not clean and the bathroom has the remains of the guest before me and there are empty boxes under the sofa. When I went to the reception, they asked me why you didn't tell us in advance as you arrived at the hotel at 12 am and told them the situation of the room The next morning, and this clearly doubted the credibility of the guest. Then, after speaking to the supervisor, he asked me to leave the room until it was cleaned, and I actually did that, and my children and I went out, and for more than two hours it was not cleaned, so I returned with my children to the room without cleaning. I feel insulted indeed, by the way, the sirens went off in the morning like crazy and me and my family and all the guests rushed out of the hotel and it turned out to be a mistake, then we went back to our rooms without anyone even contacting us or offering any apologies read more

Visited here for an overnight stay. Check in was quick and easy and the hotel itself was very clean and modern looking- it's also in a great location- next to several malls and restaurants. My only complaint was the overflowing trash bins in the parking areas. The bins are right near the elevators so you have to walk by them - these are very unsanitary and attract vermin. read more

Where do I start! Ok so the parking garage is only 3rd floor parking for hotels guest maybe ok in summer but winter not so good. Next the ice machine on our floor was broken that's a hassle having to get ice off another floor. The room itself was a good size heat worked great the water pressure was good best thing was the shower however the vent didn't work in our bathroom. The bed was comfortable but the sheets would not stay on the king size bed oh and the only clean every other day which I did not like at all. The worst part was the floors above us were like be inside a cheap apartment you can hear people walking and rolling carts and luggage all night. Trying to find the hotel is a little bit confusing because its in between a construction site, stores, and an apartment complex. After you find the hotel, you have to park your car on the 3rd floor (the rest of the floors are for residents and retail). This wouldnt necessarily be a problem, but their parking garage elevator isnt working so you have to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs everytime you want to get to your car. The location is nice, it is right in the hustle and bustle of everything in edgewater and pretty much right on the water, but, dont expect a view. There is a large building and construction that obstructs it. The hotel itself is very clean, the room is spacious, and the bathroom is lovely. Overall, the hotel serves its purpose- gives you a place to lay your head at night. But a few inconveniences go along with it. read more

Pro's: Excellent hotel, very modern and clean. 100% will book here again. Bathroom is modern, large and has that crisp feeling with the decor. Bedding is standard within Marriott though the pillows could be improved on. Large TV, easy remote, great desk to work at though the desk chair you can tell they went cheap on. Breakfast was average but a plus as they give a good healthy option with egg whites. Waitress was awesome, Nanette, very friendly and looking out to be of service Con's: Very long time (5+ minutes) to get hot water. The pressure cost them a star...it was like the Seinfeld episode where there is no pressure in the shower. Felt like the watering can you have when gardening in your yard. No restaurant in hotel but places to eat within walking. read more

This hotel is nice and convenient. The hotel is located on a street that has everything you can think of. Grocery stores, restaurants, shopping centers, spas, and much more. When I checked in, I was greeted by a friendly and kind man. Shame on me that I do not remember his name. He asked us if we have ever stayed at this hotel before and explained everything since we said no. There is a small bar that serves liquor and food in the main lobby. There is a Starbucks there as well and a small area where you can purchase snacks. This hotel has a gym and a small heated pool. If everyone at the hotel was swimming at once, everyone would look like a squished can of sardines. Go at a time when it's empty and you'll have a nice time. As for the room, it is very updated and cozy. The room I am staying in has a stand up shower that is spacious, king size bed, microwave, small refrigerator, keurig, couch, desk and BIG television. Every was set up nicely and extremely clean! I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. read more

The location of this hotels gives easy access to NYC via the GW bridge- short drive. We wanted something outside of the busy city and this worked perfectly. Lots of food/shopping options and parking is very reasonable. The young ladies at the front desk are very accommodating. The rooms themselves are clean and seem relatively new. read more

Great room, decent fitness room, and good bistro. Front door concierge is ok. Julian is the worst. I called for a shuttle ride from Cliffside Park to to the hotel. We scheduled it for 9pm. I waited until 8:50pm-9:40pm. No shuttle. I called to make sure they were coming. Julian said they might've gotten lost. Really? I had to ask my ailing grandmother to get give me a ride in the bitter cold. He not only messed up my shuttle ride from Cliffside Park to the hotel, he also blew it off like it was not a big deal and hung up on me. Julian also forgot to tell the new guests how to operate the elevator. The family just stood in the elevator not going anywhere. Otherwise the hotel is good. read more

We booked this hotel after being unhappy with the original plan to stay in New York City . This hotel was clean and staff was super friendly! The room was large enough for our family of 4. The tv connected to Netflix which was cool. The fitness room was awesome. Parking was free which was perfect since we rented a car. Definitely will stay again if we come back to the area. The view is nothing like the photos would lead you to believe. There is an apartment building between this hotel and the Hudson so you can't see the river or NYC skyline from the rooms. You can walk across the parking lot past the apartments for a beautiful view but I'm unsure if you can access the river walk path. Aside from that, the hotel was great! Had a small hiccup at check In but the staff went above and beyond to make things right. Hotel was very clean and comfortable! Breakfast was worth the extra $10. Eggs, applewood smoked bacon, waffles, cereal, toast, bagels, fresh oatmeal, and fruit were all delicious! Would definitely stay here again if in the area. read more

This place is a nice hotel with a great view. I would give this place all stars but Jaqueline at the front desk lost them for this review. She was very rude and not helpful. Every time my family and I would go down to the lobby her facial expression changes instantly from smiling to a nasty face trying to pretend she likes us. We did not feel comfortable with her at all. A hotel is to make you feel like you're home away from home, but she made us feel unwelcome. Everyone else was polite and helpful with a smile . This is a newly built Courtyard situated just feet from the Hudson River. It was opened about 16 months ago and still has that new hotel feel. It has all of the traditional Courtyard touches and is a solid business hotel. Staff was very effective, but almost robotic during the check in process. The lobby was cozy with a large fireplace and buzzing bar. My king room on the 5th floor was nice and pretty spacious. The bed was soft and the pillows were fluffy. The electronic portion of the room is all up to date and helps you keep connected. There was minimal noise heard through the walls and I got a good night sleep. Based on the location you can either dine in Edgewater or take a ferry across to Manhattan. I arrived late in the day during January, so it was not an option for me. You can Uber over the river, but it is hard to get a driver to make the trip. Keep in mind that there are no views of the skyline as a large building is in the way. I will likely be back here for future trips to the area. read more

The rooms were clean and up to date. There are no views but the nightly rate on the weekend is reasonable for the area. The hotel has a bar and Starbucks in the lobby, but also walking distance to a shopping area. The river is close with a nice path. The only issue we had was with the initiative of the staff. They seemed to be trained to a script. Don't ask them questions regarding the area, you will receive a blank stare. read more

Hands down the worst place I've ever stayed! It smells like an old casino. The rooms are paper thin, you hear EVERY word your neighbor or the UPSTAIRS is saying or doing! I called the front desk all 4 nights I stayed about the person above me STOMPING and moving furniture from 10pm-3-4am EVERY NIGHT! I got the "we will call up there see if they can quiet down" of course nothing had been done, didn't even bother to offer to move me rooms. Breakfast wasn't included, parking was far. I was hoping to get away for the night after spending the day at Sojo Spa for my birthday. Upon entering the room I noticed something strange with the layout. The bed was smushed up against the wall and the sofa bed we originally booked for was not there. It was an extremely small room where the tv was not facing the bed, very disorienting. I then contacted the front desk and the person said this was the room we booked and they were unable to change my room. Before leaving for dinner we spoke with another person and yet again we were met with the same response. It was not until we confirmed this is not the room we booked for and showed the the front desk proof that they admitted there was an alteration in our booking and it was not the room we booked. Despite our multiple attempts to fix the issue prior, at this point of the night there was no one who was "qualified" to fix the issue or offer us a refund. The room was so uncomfortable we ended up leaving and having to drive hours away home. I am not a particularly picky person but when I am paying a premium for a room I would like to get what I paid for. Very dissatisfied with the service. read more
