I am not one to write reviews, positive or negative. But, after today's experince, it was impeartive for me to post this review. It has been five years since I visited a dentist. Before that time, I was religious regarding dental check ups with check ups every 6 months. And if required, follow ups on associated procedures. I then had a horrid experince with one new dentist that left me not only bewildered, but angry! Needless to say, I decided I would no longer go to any dentist. As long as I brushed my teeth, I would be fine. Fast forward to present day. Recently I was awakened by a painful ache in my mouth. I knew I had to do see a dentist, but resisted. Finally the pain made me give in so I reached out to my neighbor who suggested Courtyartd Dental. While I was apprehensive, the pain superceded my personal aversion and defiance of going to a dentist. From the moment i walked into the door, I was treated with professionalism, kindness and above all compassion. Dr. Barretto completed a thorough exam. She discussed next steps and referrals for me. The staff was tremendous. And there were no surprises. Procedures, Costs (as they say Investments) and responsibilities were carefully detailed. Later, I returned to begin my yearly cadance of dental maintenance. And again, their professionalism and campassion shined through. This was an overall decent dentist for the times I did go here. While the staff are nice and friendly there were concerns with how much they were telling us about what was found in our mouths. Nearly every time my family and I went and despite us following everything they'd constantly tell us, we'd still get told we'd have to pay more for some other dental work. Which left us suspicious and wondering if our past dentists were either lying or being honest with us about our teeth. Watch out for who answers the phone! There must have been a change in staffing. When I called to cancel my appointment, the person whose name starts with a "G" asked all kinds of personal questions. When I told her she was violating my FERPA, she apologized and kept asking FERPA violating questions. I have been a patient for over 7 years and am considering finding another dental office due to the lack of front office, phone answering lack of knowledge FERPA laws. As someone who was traumatized as a child with a horrible dentist, I have always had a hard time going to have dental cleanings and dental work. I was fortunate to have been referred to Courtyard Dental a few years ago and my anxiety with going to see a dentist has gone away. Their hygienist Jessica is the best hygienist I have been to. She is thorough, communicative and most of all super compassionate. I actually enjoy getting my teeth cleaned now. Not a fan of this place. Came here once before the pandemic, hated it. The first thing I was told was I could check into Yelp for a drawing. I was there to get a medical check up, didn't know this was the mall. The second problem I had was I honestly found the dentist to be too callous with the handling of my goddamn mouth. Nobody likes going to the dentist but I had a complete different experience than every other post here. Maybe it was an off day but that is more than enough for me. Omitting this place from the 1 star list as they were able to perform basic dental functions (cleaning, removing stains). Whatever they are using to remove stains though is too abrasive. Felt like a power wash in my mouth and it felt like it wasn't the sharpest knife in the kitchen holding the machine. My experience is my experience. It isn't going anywhere. read more

I didn't think it was possible to love a dental office, but Courtyard Dantal is a standout experience. The people who work there are an example of what it looks like when you realize that every human interaction has a chance to make an impact on someone for the better. I recently changed dentists due to multiple issues at my last one. I put off going to a new one for months because I was nervous I'd run into the same issues. A friend of mine suggested Courtyard Dental so I finally decided to give them a shot and I am SO glad that I did. They take COVID precautions seriously. They have you call before walking into the building to ensure that the waiting room isn't crowded. Masks are required as well as using hand sanitizer when you enter and temperatures is taken at the front desk. They keep everything very sanitized. I feel comfortable every time I go in for an appointment. On top of this, they are all so kind and helpful. If you have any concerns they will make sure to provide you with detailed answers and thoughtful responses. My anxiety with dentists is bad due to my last one which I voiced to them and each appointment I've had they've taken the time to tend to not only my teeth, but to making me comfortable. I love Courtyard Dental and all of the fine people that work there and take such good care of me. I have been going here for about 4 years. They were recommended to my by friends that are patients. I have been very happy ever since I have been a patient here. Mona and Kristen are my hygienists. They both do such a thorough cleaning. Ashley is the receptionist but she can do so much more. Dr. Baretto is my dentist. I have had two procedures there requiring the dentist to do actual dental work on me. The care and follow up is excellent. Everyone is so kind, gentle and caring. I am so impressed with their level of service! I had my cleaning with Mayra! She was detailed and gentle. I am not one who enjoys going to the dentist but she made me feel very comfortable. On 12/12/22 I had a crown down for the first time! For me and my family I feel Courtyard dental is looking to make money and what's not in our best interest as patients. My family has been going for almost 23 years. When Dr. Hickmott was there , our family trusted his good and honest opinion. My family and I do not completely trust what the dentists and hygienist have told us since. What the dentists has told our family members, another professional somewhere else has told us different. I'm at the point recently where what the dentist told me I just didn't trust. It was a heated discussion in the middle of a cleaning. I just wanted to leave. Seems to be a turnover with the hygienists. I've gone for cleanings, and constantly lectured after what they've told me to do prior to the visit. Now instead of 3 cleanings a year, I need 4! The hygienist told me I eat too much sugar. I don't! I'm healthy and take good care of my teeth. I miss Dr. Hickmott. This place is not the same. read more

I went to this dentist in august 2020, fully insured by my employer, for a simple cleaning. A YEAR LATER they reach out to me saying I owe $250 for it. After so much back and forth on the phone, they realized THEY billed the wrong insurance company. Well in that year my employer changed insurers as they do. As you can imagine the headache that came with that. Courtyard dental did not want to admit they made a mistake, and put the blame on me. It took them a whole year to realize their mistake and are still making me pay for THEIR MISTAKE. If they caught their mistake a month or even 4 months after the appointment, I wouldn't need to pay a cent. My insurance would have covered it all. BUT because of their disorganization im forced to pay out my pocket (after paying for insurance every month) for something that should have been free. Any good provider would realize their mistake and just wave the cost of what is pennies to them, especially during covid. When I spoke with the head of operations over there, she said she has been emailing me consistently and when i looked for the emails, I couldn't find any. When I asked her to send me the email thread so I can see that she reached out to me, she COULDN'T FIND IT. Even after I asked if that's enough proof to show it was in fact THEIR mistake, she didn't want to wave the fee. It blows my mind they would rather collect this payment and lose me as a customer and lose all of my future payments they could have received. Silly business move. On top of all that, they made me do an x-ray as well without explaining the costs or consequences of it. Terrible service!! I'm sorely disappointed in them, and I don't recommend going at all. And it's unfortunate it had to come to this review, because I think the doctor is probably good, but the administration needs some work. I read more

*Beware* My first appointment was normal. Everyone made a half ass first impression but my second apt I (afro black woman) was yelled at by a Dr. Gabr because I told him I have health issues that prevent me from having my Invisalign's in for 20 hours daily. The nurse Jessica laughed at me for crying. He unfortunately didn't get fired but moved to a different office and Jessica also told me that My Invisalign Plan include free replacement trays if anything happens but when I needed a replacement she said it would cost me an additional $500. My family and I had been patients at Courtyard dental for 20 years. Ever since Dr Hickmont retired, and the business sold, we have had terrible customer service. First I had a terrible experience then my husband did and now today my daughter did. I feel like they really don't care about us and just rush us through, very unaccommodating with regards to trying to set up follow up appointments. I think they over schedule and hence cannot react to help us as things come up. At first I thought it was the office staff with the new management but with 3 different experiences at 3 different times, it is now time to move on. The 1 star is for the memories with Dr Cheng and Dr Hickmont as well as for Kirsten the hygienist who is wonderful. read more

After my husband came home from the dentist last Thursday ( Sept 14th 2023) , his teeth started to hurt in the evening. He didn't pay attention and took painkillers. Later, his teeth began to swell and become inflamed. He couldn't swallow food or speak. It was also very difficult. He has to take some antibiotics. It's was Dr. Ladan, who treated my husband teeth (3 fillings) last Thursday. When my husband made an appointment with courtyard for the first clinic visit, he specifically asked Dr. Barretto. Dr. Barretto got my husband's crown done very professionally and successfully. My husband didn't feel any discomfort when he came home. When My husband tried to make this appointment (sept 14th 2023). The front desk staff Jessica said that Dr. Barretto does not have any near future opening. Jessica forced my husband to see Dr. Ladan. That led my husband's painful accident with Dr. Ladan at courtyard dental office. read more
