We are relatively new to the area and our next door neighbor highly recommended the office. Our neighbor has been a dental professional for many years and of all the offices she's worked in, this was her favorite. My first visit was yesterday and now I can see what she meant! I broke a tooth recently and immediately called the dental office. They set up and emergency appointment to understand the extend of the problem. This was done the next day. They took X-rays of the broken tooth. The dentist's examination confirmed that the tooth had broken into several pieces. And he revealed that it was a "temporary" repair of 10 years ago. His recommendation was to replace it with an implant or simply remove it. I discussion further with the Dr. Kitajima about the previously "domed" repair and asked him to to do the temporary repair again. Because it is deemed a temporary repair, there would be no warranty that it would hold up for a long, extended service life. I was agreeable to that. I now have an appointment to do the temporary repair, again. read more

My husband was the one who found this place for our family when we moved to Danville 5 years ago. They were in our insurance network and reasonable price. We have been very happy and satisfied with the service of this family dentistry. I love how the ladies in the front, Stacey & Allison, know our names and treat us like we are family. Melissa, Denise & Amy are AWESOME! Everyone here is super friendly. Dr. Nick is knowledgeable, and thorough. He's no mess, no fuss, get r' done! Straight to the point. My husband and I really like that about him. He always gives us options and his recommendations. Also, answered all our questions. I don't know how Dr. Nick does it but I never felt the needle when he had to numb my mouth. He's will always tell you what he's doing (maybe it's to tell Denise too, ) before performing each step for whatever work he has to do on your teeth. The office is clean, small & cozy but I love that. There's 3 private rooms and 6 seats in the waiting area. In the 5 years we've been there, we waited about 25 minutes past our appointment time twice....and there was 4 of us. Totally understandable and they will let you know if doctor is running late or behind. Other than that, they're usually pretty good and getting you in at your appointment time and out in a reasonable time. There's plenty of parking. I've had 4 dentists from the different places we lived at and they were all good but I have never been so impressed until now. Amy was the dental tech who cleaned my teeth and she was thorough paying careful and gentle attention to my teeth. She is kind and patient. I have been going to Dr. Kitajima For at least 20 years now. His son has recently stepped into the practice as well and He is wonderful too. It's pretty awesome to see a father and his son working side-by-side.Over the last 10 years I have taken my daughter to them for orthodontics and talk about a fantastic beautiful result. The girls upfront are awesome one of which happens to be you the elder Kitajimas wife And she is very lovely. Stacey has also worked the front desk consistently for at least the last 15 years and she is always so kind and accommodating. I've been going to Dr. Kitajima's for years. I couldn't believe the difference in treatment. In the past, when I had to get a shot for a cavity, the process was SOOOOOOO PAINFUL. I literally cried. Seriously, it was that painful. The first time I got a shot from Dr. Henry, I didn't fell a thing. I questioned Dr. Henry about the whole process and he simply smiled. He was very aware of how other doctors applied the shots and Dr. Henry had developed a technique which he has been teaching at various dental schools for years. Dr. Nick came on a few years ago and he recently removed a crack tooth. Let's just say the son learned the technique from his dad very well, and the tooth extraction was painless. Dr. Henry's daughter, Melissa, is my hygienist and has been cleaning my teeth for years. And the person running the office is Dr. Henry's wife, Allison. I've been seeing Dr Nicholas for about two years. He gave me my smile back. In all of my sixty plus years, he my absolute favorite dentist. I use to be scared of the numbing shots. He has a technique that I have never experienced by any dental office before. His technique creates no pain. Unbelievably true. I know he also teaches, so I'm sure that he is passing on this wonderful technique. I know his schedule is usually full, so count your blessings if you're lucky enough to be his patient. I do. Dr. Kitajima has been my dentist for practically my entire life. I believe I started going to him when I was about 6 or 7. He was also my orthodontist in middle school. People always wonder why I enjoy going to the dentist so much, but it is because I have never had a negative experience in my 20+ years of going to Dr. Kitajima. I recently took my 6 yr old daugther to see the Jr Dr Kitajima for a cleaning and Xrays. His hygienist was awesome -- very kid savvy! She was even able to make the horrible process of putting in the bitewings fun (...if you can imagine that!). Went straight back after leaving the military and returning to the area. Only one issue in 27 years... when a filling come out. When he does procedures on me, he makes sure that I'm comfortable at all times and that all issues are addressed. I've had him for the last 10 years and never had a bad experience. My latest dentist, Dr Nicholas Kitajima of Danville, saw the white area (some of it rough) on my lower gums under my partial. He put the partial back in place and found that when he pushed it (first on one side, then on the other) it rocked - back and forth. He told me that I could replace the partial ($1100 or so) or he could try to reline it; first with a temporary solution, then with a permanent, if it worked (under $300, I think. I forgot and haven't gotten the bill). Then the white should go away. It's been a month or so and the white is almost gone. The funny thing is, over 15 or 20 years, probably from the beginning, the white area has spread. Six dentists that I can remember have commented on it, all worrying that it was precancerous. One sent me for a $300 biopsy (not covered by insurance, and it came back clear). Only one dentist, before Dr. Kitajima told me it was callous build up. And only Dr. Kitajima suggested this solution. By the way, Dr Kitajima is the youngest dentist I've ever had. He's a partner with his Dad, Henry, and he also teaches at a dental college, whose name I don't recall. I travel 4 hours, 1 way, to go to him. read more

DISAPPOINTED, BAD EXPERIENCE with Dr. Henry Kitajima!!! I took my 7 year old granddaughter for a cleaning and x-rays. Dr. Kitajima told me she had 2 cavities and needed 3 sealants. I took her back for the fillings and sealants. He did 1 sealant and took off his gloves annoyed and said "we're all done" because she was scared and put her hand near her mouth in fear. He didn't try to work with her or explain anything to her. He told me he couldn't treat her and she needed to go to a different dentist and be sedated. She was anxious but was still lying in his chair with her mouth open. He made some rude comments and was impatient with his hygienist. The front office staff said they would send her records to the dentist I chose to do the work. I made an appt. a week later at 8AM with another dentist and when I arrived the records from Dr. Kitajima's had not been received. We called Dr. Kitajma's office and they were closed that day until 1PM. The new dentist had to take more x-rays and determined there were no cavities and the sealants needed to wait 6 months until the teeth fully erupted. SEDATED??? I would not recommend this dentist. He wanted to do work on a patient that wasn't necessary and the front office staff did not send the records as they said they would. The 1 sealant that was done only partially covered the tooth as it is not fully erupted. 1 star is too good of a rating for this dentist. I'll give the hygienist, Amy credit as she was great. She did the cleaning and x-rays and it was a pleasant experience for my granddaughter. It was only when Dr. Kitajima was either having a bad day or is impatient with children that he abruptly ended the appt. The fact that fillings and sealants were NOT necessary was DISAPPOINTING!!!!
