Hidden fridge and microwave I only discovered on Day 2 thanks to my niece!
    Justin T.

I stayed here on a recent trip to New York. Myself and a bunch of family from all over were in town for a wedding and this was the hotel my uncle booked, which was in close proximity to his house. Usually the the ratings would have been a turn off for me, but since it wasn't me booking, I had to go with it. This was one of those instances where the rating did not match the experience. We were late checking in, but made sure and called to let them know we were still coming in. They assured us all is good and just drive safely. Parking is free here which is a plus and we never had to park too far even though the lot filled up in the evenings. Check in was pleasant. Customer service was great throughout. They even had a sign in the lobby welcoming our family in for the weekend. They did their best to get most of us on one floor as well. The room itself was great. I had a king room which was very spacious and clean. I loved how they have the personalized screen on the TV upon check in. It's the little things like seeing my name on TV that make me happy. There was a nice little desk if needed with outlets all over the place for all your electronic devices. Everything in the room worked. There is a hidden fridge and microwave in the room which I only discovered because my niece pointed it out for me a few days into the trip. Wish I didn't get rid of all my leftovers! The bathroom was very spacious and had excellent lighting. One thing I judge hard in hotels is water pressure and drainage. They passed on both fronts. I don't typically sleep too well when traveling because I have an amazing bed at home, but I slept like a baby here. The room was also very comfortable temperature wise. Most places I get one extreme or another, but not here. As far as amenities goes, there isn't much here other than the fitness center. I wasn't trying to get my swole on so I did not visit. No pool here so don't pack your Speedos. They do have a nice outdoor space in the back with a firepit. Inside they have a bistro for breakfast and lunch with grab and go options and coffee. There is plenty of seating and lounging areas in the lobby as well. We hung out there at night and the staff was so helpful in cleaning up even though we insisted on doing so. There is also a pantry of sorts where they have drinks and snacks that you can grab and they just charge it to the room. There are alot of restaurants and entertainment within close proximity to the hotel as well. I don't stay in the Yonkers area often, but I can see myself coming back here if in the area.

    Nice siting area.

This location was very hospitable, the rooms were spacious with update decor and amenities. This location is a hidden jewel tucked away in Yonkers. It's a great place to unplug and enjoy some quiet time away from the city noise. Thank you Courtyard Marriott!! #CourtyardMarriott.

    Hair

I definitely do not recommend this hotel due to cleanliness of the rooms. The first room we were given had someone's hair in between the sheets (see photo) which obviously showed the sheets were not cleaned from the prior occupant. The second room we were shown had a foul cigarette smell where someone had obviously been smoking recently. On the plus side the staff were very nice.

    Juicy Giant burger

Had a great weekend stay combined with an amazing Bistro experience. My night cap was a Tito's and lemonade cocktail with a splash of grenadine. The delicious food by Chef John is worth the wait. Every bite of my giant sized juicy burger was delicious. The thick cut seasoned fries were also a hit. Thank you to the Bistro staff for a scrumptious meal

Worst check-in experience I've had....pretty much ever. I continue to find Marriott properties on the decline and it is beyond disappointing since I've been a Platinum member for years. I did check-in online via the Marriott app, but I did find it odd that I had not received any notification that my room was ready. Whatever. Could be a fluke. Could be that the only reason that I stayed at this property is that it was the only Marriott in Westchester that was not sold out. Could be that I made the reservation 2 days prior. Could be. Whatever. At 5pm, my room wasn't ready. I only know this because there were 2 different people/groups ahead of me trying to get rooms...and their rooms weren't ready. Not sure what the stories were for the other 2 situations, but by the time I got to speak to one of the 3 people that were trying to take care of way too many problems, I was told that there was a plumbing issue in my room and that it needed more time. At 5:30 (ish?) I received my room key. Thirty minutes to check in...mostly waiting to actually talk to a person. Completely unacceptable....especially after a long day of work and hours of traveling. The 2 stars are for the newly renovated lobby and the size of my room. It was an accessible room - which I generally don't care for - but it was one of the larger ones and was clean enough. Yes - plumbing was an issue; nothing drained properly....not the sink nor the tub. Thankfully I only stayed one night and I won't likely be back.

I also requested a handicapped accessible room, as my BIL was staying with me, and he is mostly wheelchair bound. After check-in, I learned the the handicap rooms are on the 8th floor. So, the reasons for the low rating: (1) the handicap rooms are the furthest from the elevator, literally from one end of the hall to the other; well over 100 feet. (2) sign by elevator that says, "In case of fire, use stairs." This is kind of ridiculous, to expect a wheelchair bound person, to descend 8 floors. Which leads to the question, "Why put handicap rooms on the top most floor?" (3) Our room was very LOUD. Literally, when the HVAC unit came on, it sounded like a jet engine starting. On for 5 minutes or so, then off for 2 minutes. Rinse and repeat all night long (4) In a shower / tub area, the height of the tub was not conducive to a disabled person being able to use it. On a positive side, the bathroom was spacious, with 3 grab bars near the toilet. Note the 4 grab bars in the shower / tub area are useless if you can't get in. Another positive was the continental breakfast. Numerous options for both cold and hot items. 2 poorly designed stars. If you can't put handicap rooms on the ground floor, near an exit, you should not sell rooms as handicap.

A small gym had some free weights & cardio machines. There was an outdoor sitting area with a fire pit. Breakfast was dicey, it was very crowded we were moving through an obstacle course. Staff had difficulty replenishing coffee & breakfast items, fast enough. However, when time was up they quickly carted away all of the coffee & breakfast item's. Powdered eggs, sausage, oatmeal with toppings, cereals & toast were offered. The coffee was watery, and the quality of breakfast was disappointing. There weren't enough tables because there were people working on laptops while others were shoeless looking for tables to eat breakfast. Most left a mess on tables that we cleared.

Every aspect of this hotel was wonderful starting with the low price and easy reservation system. I booked it through hotels.com and was able to complete some pre-registration info online before I arrived to make the check-in easier. They do charge a $50 deposit on your credit card in case of damages (which is pretty standard) The front desk staff was very friendly and I was happy to be told that the parking is free for guests staying at the hotel (when you arrive there is a gate to get into the parking lot, it looks like everyone has to pay, but that is not the case--just visitors and I believe restaurant goers have to pay for parking. So you take the ticket to open the gate and your room key after that acts as your entrance and exit to the parking lot. There was plenty of parking and the hotel was extremely clean. I was on the first floor which was upstairs one level from the lobby. There was a really nice area with a big table and comfortable chairs--an area to read or work on your computer-it looked very new and welcoming--I was able to do some work there after I checked out. The room was spacious, very clean and large! I had a King Size Bed a desk and a modern bathroom with what looked like new lights and a new shower. They even provided two mini water bottles free of charge-which was really nice. The hotel was quiet all night and was absolutely one of the best included hotel breakfasts I have ever had (so nice that this is complementary. For anyone that wants to be near NYC-this is one of the best bets, especially because it is very affordable! There is also a nice restaurant attached to the hotel (which I did not try) and it seems they do larger events as well like weddings and birthdays. I had lost my purse, which had my house keys and credit card in it, so all I had with me was my phone. I asked the hotel if I could pay with Apple Pay since I didn't have my card, and I just needed a safe place to stay until morning. The receptionist told me they only accept cash or card. I then asked if I could book through Booking.com and pay online, would they let me check in. The receptionist said yes. So I made a reservation and paid upfront through Booking.com. But when I showed him the confirmation, he suddenly told me I couldn't check in until 2 p.m. He hadn't said that earlier. Even though I had already paid, he then told me I had to wait *outside* the hotel. It was 5 a.m., I was alone, a woman in a vulnerable situation, and I had gone out of my way just to find a safe place. I was shocked. When I asked for a refund, the hotel refused. The receptionist should have told me from the start that I wouldn't be allowed to check in until 2 p.m. Asking someone who's already in distress to wait outside in the early hours of the morning, despite having same day reservation, is completely unacceptable.
