Overall Score: 4.25 Stars This hotel has all the qualities I like when staying away from home. I inspect bedding and bathrooms first and foremost. I was happy to see both were spic and span. Nothing grosses me out more than any kind of foreign object where I lay my body and seat my butt. The furnishings were very nice and the color scheme of the room well thought out. The lighting too was well done. The staff was friendly. There is a small area in the lobby for forgotten needs. The hotel was easy to get to. The price was very reasonable too. Not a great stay here. First off. Planned to stay for two nights. Ended up only staying for a night. They over charged me right off the bat by $100, then never canceled the second night and got charged for that as well. The pictures are of the blood and other grossness that I found in the room. Went to the front desk and let them know and nothing was done about it. Was told the room rate was going to be adjusted and nothing was done. I will be going to cooperate to have this fix. Great customer service. Cute ambience. Amazing amenities! Stayed here for a work trip in Malvern for just a couple nights. Aside from the room keys repeatedly not working, my stay was perfect. My room was immaculately clean, and the lobby has a nice dining area where you can hang out and relax. The staff is super friendly and thoughtful. I received a bottle of water upon check-in, and the front desk offered a wake-up call. The manager of events, Jess, offered my colleagues a free champagne toast since she noticed we were celebrating a few milestones. The staff also came immediately to my room to help me when my room keys wouldn't work. The shuttle driver was a huge hit with my colleagues. He was funny, accommodating, and told amazing stories! I will definitely stay here again when I'm in town for work. It's a hop skip to my company's satellite office, and there are several dining options in the area that are walkable or a short shuttle ride away. read more

I have stayed at this hotel three times now and have been positively impressed each time. There is nothing that makes this Courtyard stand out amongst others in this generally uniform chain. But they do live up to their standards and, as a Gold-level member, I like this Marriott brand. This location is one I have used with frequency this year because we have a customer in the area. The location on PA29 is easy to find and is nicely situated near a handful of restaurants and other conveniences within a ten-minute drive. You will need a vehicle, however, if you want anything to do anything outside the hotel. The staff here are friendly, helpful and approachable. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathrooms allow maneuverability and the TV system they offer is nicely complete. The work area is quite functional and has allowed me to attend to business in the room. I have also always found their Wi-Fi to work well. I have never liked Courtyard's policy about not giving breakfast free to their Elite members. It does not compete well with Hilton Garden Inn, for example (I am also a Hilton Diamond member and I, thus, speak from experience). The Bistro here offers decent quality food and Starbucks coffee but they are limited and expensive for what you get. The rates here are slightly expensive but not out of line. I have had rates here for over $200 in the past though this stay was about $175 ($193 with taxes). This is at least acceptable. I will likely stay here again when visiting our customer in the area because of the convenience though there are other hotels going up nearby. read more

Great customer service from all staff. The location is good and shuttle service was timely and appreciated. The hotel rooms are outdated and just ok. There was no daily service for fresh towels or cleaning. Breakfast not included, but did have free Starbucks coffee in lobby in the mornings. My room was not very clean. It could have used a vacuum. There were visible crumbs on the floor and cereal pieces on the side of the bed. No room service available but there is food available at hotel. read more

This Courtyard is great- always clean, very friendly staff, and if you waive housekeeping you get 500 extra points a night which is a huge perk! The room is a perfect size- I only wish the pillows were firmer and thicker. The proximity of this location to my work is perfect, and I love that Starbucks is in the same parking lot- makes it easier to get going in the morning! One other great thing- you ALWAYS can snag a great parking spot here! read more

This place is a dump. Rooms are average, but they don't clean it unless you bet them to. Worst part is the Bistro, staffed by lazy people who don't care. Very limited and expensive menu. I paid $14 for an everything bagel, diet pepsi and cream cheese. On Thursday evening, the bistro was closed so I had to walk several blocks to a gas station to get something to eat. I've been a Marriott member for many, many years. I have not complained about any of my stays. We have enjoyed our stays at Marriott, continue to be Marriott Bonvoy members, and use our Bonvoy credit card. This hotel was very, very different. Here are some of the problems we experienced. 1. We had a reservation for a King--we were given a Queen and a runaround about getting our points reimbursed. We are still awaiting a resolution to this. 2. The hotel was filthy. Among the problems: a. Hallways were never vacuumed-- French fries were on the floor, as well as litter on the carpets. All of this garbage was on the floor for the entire time we were there. Usually you take pictures of the places you visit, but this place was so bad that we have pictures of the hotel and how it looked. b. Garbage was left out in the hall and never picked up. We have pictures of this as well. 3. The supposed sanitation for Covid didn't exist. With the pandemic still severely problematic, we witnessed absolutely no concern for our health. Among the problems: a. The hand sanitizers dispensers didn't work. At one point we tried three in a row--none dispensed hand sanitizer. We tried EVERY day. None worked. b. The gym was disgusting. The treadmills were so filthy that my hands stuck to them when I was running. There were no wipes with which to clean the treadmill--they were all dried out. There were no towels in there (which may explain why the treadmills were sticky). There was no way to adjust the temperature in the gym, which was very, very warm, while the halls in the entire hotel were freezing all the time. We informed staff about this, but it appears that nothing changed. 4. The room was not clean when we got into the room. The room we stayed in was poorly vacuumed when we arrived. a. We have pictures of the dirt in the corners and in some you can make out a spider's web as well. b. We were there from a Wednesday to Monday--and there was no housekeeping. We had to go get our own towels and tissues. Garbage piled up in our room (there are pictures) because there simply was no place to discard garbage. Towels piled up in the bathroom (here, too we have pictures). We were never told there would be no service (we would have left) and the front desk did not seem at all upset when I told them that we needed towels and tissues--they simply went and got us some with no apology and no concern. c. There was no liner for the ice bucket. d. The facility needs an exterminator. In one day alone, we killed three spiders. There were spider webs when we arrived. There are pictures of this as well. 5. The general upkeep of the hotel was below par for all the years we have stayed at Marriott hotels of all types. The tub was rusty and cracked (we have a photo of this), the water pressure in the sink was so low that it was hard to clean off my razor, and the carpeting by the elevators on the second floor were bubbling up. Even the sheet on our bed had a huge stain on it. We do understand that the Courtyard is not the JW (we have stayed at both) and that the amenities are not the same. But cleanliness and housekeeping have been good at every Courtyard we have stayed--this was a very notable exception. Cleanliness and housekeeping would be expected even at hotels that did not have a Marriott brand standard. When we gave them feedback, we received a form letter back referring to this mess as a "teachable moment." They don't get it. read more

We had a great stay on 6/29/18 after my cousins wedding. I called for a late check in around 9pm and they handled it very well. First impression walking in was great. A gentleman made eye contact before I met the counter and asked if I was checking in and asked how the wedding was. Room 328. The process took less than 5 minutes. Gave us a dominos menu and actually sent the delivery man to our room later than night. The room was spotless and looked like we were the first guests. A comfy king size bed, blackout curtains, a loveseat and a clean bathroom really made our night pleasant. Check out was a breeze. I would recommend this hotel for anyone in the area. read more

With Starbucks coffee, beer and wine, awesome salads and meals, everything you need is here. Add a warm and welcoming staff, clean, well decorated rooms, you'll want to stay here. The pool, workout room, and laundry room are all excellent. My client meetings were managed by Patty and everything went well! When we first made the decision to use this location for our hotel block, we were working with a particular employee, who was lovely and prompt in her responses. She was promoted (as she should be) and we then worked with a different person. After that point, our experience turned very negative and Courtyard Philadelphia Great Valley/Malvern was the most stressful part of planning and executing our wedding, which is insane given it should be the EASIEST. 1. We had negotiated use of a shuttle to transport the bridal party to our venue if we had a certain number of rooms booked. I made sure to get it in writing. We had surpassed that number (in fact we maxed out our block). On our wedding day, it was almost as if the conversation never happened and they scrambled to make sure the shuttles were ready. On top of that, they managed to charge us for the shuttle anyway. I had to reach out again to get the charge removed from my card. 2. There were two weddings using the hotel during the weekend of our wedding. The hotel put out signs for each, except they put our venue's name on both signs which was WRONG and caused a lot of confusion. 3. I was promised that my room would be ready early so I could put my stuff in there before I left for my wedding. That didn't happen. 4. The person we worked with lacked proper communication and customer service skills -- they would send emails that didn't make sense and a few times, it actually cut off in the middle of a sentence. They took days to get back to me on simple questions. 5. The shared spaces in the hotel were dirty. The elevator reeked of sweat and BO. 6. The brunch catering they recommended was not good and basically inedible. We had to order it through the hotel and they consistently got the order wrong. The order was wrong the day of the brunch but we let it go because we were over everything by that point. I'm being generous with two stars given the experience we had with this hotel for our wedding. read more

The location is close to many of the biotech and tech companies in the area. The room is updated and always smells good. However, I have been charged for extra nights in the past, due to careless mistakes from the check in staff. In addition the restaurant is not very good at all and doesn't deliver to the room. Extremely poor service. Receptionist Raja and General Manager Amberlyn were both very lazy and did not want to do any work. I tried to plan an event and needed to book out the meeting room as well as 10 hotel rooms and amberlyn was impossible to get ahold of through email and phone. Other hotels had given me and quote and contract in the same time it took for amberlyn for give me a call back. I decided not to wait for the phone or email response and went directly in person to the hotel. The receptionist Raja said amberlyn is busy and to give her a call later. I explained that I tried doing that for days but she does not respond and my event was coming up. I waited over an hour to see her and the receptionist kept telling me she was busy or on the phone. Funny thing was I was able to see amberlyn behind the front desk on her computer. Very bad service. Will not be coming back. read more

I stayed at this Marriott twice now while visiting a Malvern for work. It's pretty nice and the staff is super helpful. They've got a small market station where you can get snacks, drinks, or use the microwave for frozen foods. There is also a bistro bar where you can get coffee or some pretty decent food. The layout of the rooms is fine and I've never had an issue with their cleanliness or something not working in my room (air conditioning, lights, shower, etc.). The beds are fine, nothing spectacular in terms of a hotel room but they aren't the most uncomfortable I've had to sleep in. The front desk is helpful if you have questions about the area or are looking for places to go and eat or just hang out. Overall I've had pretty good experiences here so far. read more

I've worked in Malvern for two years now, 6 months out of the year (I go to school the other 6). Over the last two years, there have been several unfortunate occasions where I get really carried away with my work. And by 'really carried away,' I mean REALLY. Really really. To the point where I look up at the clock, it is 10 or 11 PM, and I no longer have any viable means of getting back to my apartment in the city. Whoops. The first time around, I stayed at the Desmond Hotel and Conference center, half a mile away. My thoughts are posted on their Yelp page, but in a nutshell, I wasn't impressed. For a tad bit more, the Courtyard Marriott offers a far better experience, with a more modern interior and is more suited towards the business traveler and their needs. Personally, I'm more than glad to shell out 40 bucks for a cleaner, more modern, and nicer place, even if I have to pay for my internet. Tip: if you're staying in the area, swing by Wegmans or Wawa (both within 0.5-1 miles) and pick up some snacks. The restaurants in this area are not readily accessible by car, and even as such, aren't that great. My only exception goes to The Office Bar and Grille (1021 Morehall Road, Malvern, PA 19355), but you certainly need a vehicle to get there. read more

This is a standard Courtyard hotel. The lobby does not have the style of the renovated Courtyards and so they do not have in house room service save for breakfast (which I've never had). The rooms are always clean and I love that they have cookies & flavored waters in the afternoon for when you return from work. Parking can get quite full near the front entrance at night, you nearly have to show up at 4pm to get a good spot near the front door. I imagine as the new office building behind it opens, it will become much busier during the week. read more

I stayed at this Courtyard for a week for work. I agree with Irene that the bed was comfortable. I also was happy that it was just the sheets with the cover because that seems so much more sanitary than the fuzzy blankets. :: shudders at the very thought :: The room was clean and I did like how there was a thermostat. Free wifi always rocks. The shower water got hot quickly and stayed hot - always a plus in my book. The gym had 2 treadmills, a stationary bike, an elliptical, free weights and a bench. All the equipment had television screens. The room was small but even with 3 people working out, it didn't get unbearably stuffy. The treadmills looked like they'd seen better days but the treadmill I used worked just fine. I also agree with all the other Yelpers, I was disappointed by the dining options in the area but then I discovered Wegmans and I didn't care anymore. Wegmans rules and it's open 24/7. For all you runners out there, the area isn't so runner friendly. I'd recommend driving to Wegmans and parking in the rear. There's a paved trail you can run on behind the store. read more

Nice new room. Exceptionally friendly and cheery staff. Every morning I was greeted on my way out the door and every evening I was welcomed back. I was able to add on days to my stay at the conference rate. This was a major bonus for me as we had decided to stay and see the sights. After 4 days it started to feel like home. Do note that the wifi was free and the cable TV had a lot more channels than many hotels. Both nice amenities when you going to be there for a while. read more

Very cheery staff. I really appreciate that. Room, well, it takes a lot to impress me with a hotel room. To me, there are bad rooms, and there are the rest. This room falls in the letter. This is a plus. Check-in was smooth. But, my rating is based on, what I was led to believe was a restaurant. It's a bistro. And overpriced bistro. The staff there was also very cheery. The burger I had for $17 was just okay. Both mornings that I ate breakfast, I was highly disappointed. Another $17 for two bland scrambled eggs, A scorching hot yet bland serving of potatoes, two pieces of highly salty bacon and toast with very sweet jelly. Because I had to continuously leave to find meals, I've not yet decided if I will stay here again. read more

Hotel has been updated except for the mattresses. Staying in a room with double queen beds and the mattress pad is barely a pad. It is made from material that every hair or lint sticks to it. Also, one of the mattresses has some stains on it. I'm able to deal with most anything but where I actually have to sleep, I expect to be clean. Updated mattresses with the proper mattress protectors is what this Marriott is lacking. read more

My husband and I stayed here for one night and the hotel was so nice and clean! Front desk staff were very friendly and our room was a nice size and clean. Bed was very comfortable. The only reason I'm rating this 4 and not 5 stars is because we weren't here long enough to try any amenities or the bistro. Would definitely stay here again if in the area! read more

We stayed here for five nights in late July for a Gaelic Football tournament. The staff and management were fabulous and incredibly tolerant of a large group of families with a lot of young kids. We were at the Courtyard with a large group participating in a hockey tournament. The staff went out of there way to make our stay a pleasant experience. This included opening the breakfast service earlier than normally scheduled due to our early morning games. Breakfast consisted of the normal options in addition to an egg / omelette bar. A plus for me. Rooms were clean and comfortable. When back in town for the next tournament I will recommend staying here. read more

I've had to stay at this hotel for the past year nearly every week. The hotel rooms are usually pretty clean but sometimes there are some questionable things (I.e. A piece of food next to the bed that isn't from me). The pool is so disgusting it isn't usable. The customer service is normally pretty good. The beds aren't as comfortable as other hotels I usually try to stay in (such as Starwood). If I had to stay in Malvern and could pick any hotel it wouldn't be this one! read more

*** UPDATED REVIEW *** My review below stands but after contact with customer service, I had to up my star rating. I filled out an automated survey about my stay and included my annoyance about the internet issue. Within 24 hours, I received an email from the manager of the hotel who apologized (not a form letter). Since I did not complain about the internet at the time, he couldn't speak directly to the issue I may have experienced but he believed that if I had contacted the front desk, they could have assisted me with getting the internet working faster. He said that they have rarely received complaints about the speed. In the end, that may or may not be true but he took the time not only to email me in the first place but to respond to me when I emailed back. Customer service like that is worth a lot so my star rating jumped by two stars. After that, I'd definitely give them another try. *** ORIGINAL REVIEW *** The rooms are exactly like every other Courtyard Marriott anywhere (even the electrical outlets are in the same place). The two things that brings this down for me is the TV and the internet. The TV provider they use has no menu or guide. There's a screen which shows which channel is ABC but not what's on. Like that would cost them anything! The internet is appallingly slow. I get up early so I wanted to watch one of my college lectures. It was 5:00 in the morning so usage couldn't have been that high but it took over two hours to load the 47 minute lecture. We're skipping out early - we both have midterms and since we won't be able to do any online study here, we can't afford to stay another night like we were planning to. I'm sad because I'd've liked to have more time with my family but... Anyway, in general, Courtyards are decent but the internet issue kills this one for me. Haven't eaten the breakfast yet - I'll update my review if it's particularly awesome or particularly crappy. read more

My in laws and I were in town for a funeral and my father in law (a Gold Marriott member) booked our stay a few nights prior in preparation. Unfortunately when we arrived they said someone changed our reservation (from 2 rooms to just 1) from our home phone number (strange because we haven't been home all day because of funeral). Anyhow, they said there were only 2 rooms left and only one had air conditioning. My in laws insisted my hubby and I take the room with the air (it had been an 80+ degree day) because we have a 7 month old and 3 year old. However, when we got upstairs to our room it turned out neither room had A/C. The manager was very apologetic and came upstairs to look at our units but there was nothing he could do. He brought us bottled water and fans for the night. In the morning I went to shower and noticed there was a bar of opened soap and open bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the shower...left me wondering if the room was cleaned prior to our arrival. Overall, this was one of my worst experiences with Marriot! read more

I was surprised to be able to get a reward stay for 10,000 points, no doubt due to the fact it was a Friday night and occupancy was very low. It was a buffet breakfast, I prefer the Cafe option you find in many Courtyards today. Their are other dining options 1 to 2 miles away. Quiet area, plenty of parking. read more

My review is based on customer service and the room -- stayed here for work (I train and deliver service dogs) day 1 arrival the receptionist was sweet, addressed me quickly and didn't question me about the service dog that I had with me. She gave me recommendations on local restaurants and a free water for being a rewards member. Seems like this place is newly renovated because the decor is new. The room was beautiful except the beds were lumpy and seemed old. The room was clean and well stocked. The layout of the hotel is easy to navigate and it's located near a small shopping center. Day two the new receptionist did not know the laws on service dogs.. That was annoying to be questioned after I had stayed a night already... (Educate your employees) lastly what brought me to write the review is that my co worker left her medical bracelet in the room. After checking out at the hotel and arriving at the airport we finally realized the bracelet was there. Day three receptionist ran up to the room for us after we called, found the bracelet and allowed us to have it shipped priority mail. What an angel this woman was.. Now that is proper customer service! She made my coworkers day and we appreciate her honesty, as the bracelet was a tiffanys bracelet with medical engraving on the back. read more

We stayed here August 31st-September 2nd with our families due to the death of our Mother. Starting with booking the reservation with Manager Joshua Schreib, who was so kind and accommodating, and helped us with using Marriott points for some of the rooms, through our arrival on the afternoon of August 31st when we were greeted with beautiful floral arrangements in the rooms along with a lovely message of sympathy written by Sherita B. on behalf of the Marriott family, we felt so comforted and cared for by this wonderful staff. They gave us adjoining rooms on a quiet floor so we had time to grieve together, and also allowed us an earlier check-in time in two of the rooms so we could get ready for our Mother/Grandmother's visitation that evening. The beds and even the pull-out couch were very comfortable and the rooms were nice and clean. Having the Wegman's Market & Cafe and Wawa Gas Station close by was very convenient as well. We thank the management and staff of this Courtyard by Marriott location so much for their kindness, caring, and sympathy during a time of great loss in our lives.
