I've stayed at this Courtyard Marriott several times and the reason I keep coming back is the staff. Every visit, I'm welcomed with genuine warmth and treated like family. I'm usually greeted by name before I even hand over my ID, which says everything about the level of hospitality here. A special thank you to Sharnetta, Octavia, Bianca, Shawn and bartenders Blue and Jade. Every one of them consistently provides exceptional service and makes each stay feel personal. The staff here are very nice and helpful. Room is clean, the AC works well. What's not to like, well the lack of Kleenex in the bathroom. The cheap soap and soaps in the bathroom. It's a bit on the older and worn side. Is it bad, not it was convenient for what I needed . It's a solid three stars. read more

A great stay! We always enjoy our stay in this area. We usually stay at another hotel but this hotel was a little bit cheaper and no money was needed up front. Our reason for staying... the Commanders football game was coming up. Everything was good check in and check out was a breeze the beds were comfortable we did dine here a time or two basic food but it hit the spot. I've stayed at Marriott's all over the world. Many are good and some are not. This is a good one it's a 30 minute drive from DC - this includes DC traffic it's 10 miles from the White House. We were greeted by an extremely friendly Bianca who handled check in like a pro, after our long journey. The rooms are clean a spacious ours had a little patio outside which was nice. There also is a communal outdoor terrace area. Our stay was a good one. It's located on a business park and is about a few minutes drive from the 50. The rooms are affordable and clean. No pool and the morning breakfast is not free, but we knew that going in. Check out is at 12pm and we had another great experience checking out with Charvetta Black she was bright and cheerful. We stayed at this location because of the distance to the metro station for our tour of Washington DC. Everything at the hotel was handled smoothly from check in to check out. The hotel allowed us to check in early which was perfect since we wanted to get organized before our journey into the city. Gianni who was working the front desk at arrival was helpful explaining the Metro and made us aware of the free Metro shuttle service they offered to their customers.By the way the shuttle wasn't able to pick us up and it was a $9 Uber charge. I think their last pick up is probably around 8pm. You can definitely walk from the Metro to the hotel but be sure to exit from the station on the correct side. Our bed was so comfortable and I loved the dark out shades. They didn't have the free buffet type breakfast but they did have a limited breakfast menu with Starbucks coffee. Parking was free and plentiful. Would recommend staying there. read more

In the area for an event, but didn't want to pay Annapolis hotel prices :( Found this newly/still being renovated hotel about 30 minutes away at a very fair price. Arrived exactly at 3pm check-in on a Friday with no problems requesting and getting an exterior room on ground floor near a side entrance ... which was actually right off the main lobby area next to conference rooms and small fitness room. Updates to the room included new carpets, fresh paint/grouting, and soft goods like bedding/curtains. The huge 55+ inch tv and pull-out sofa also looked pretty new. However, there were still some minor signs of wear such as the cabinet holding the fridge/drawers and some power outlets. But we encountered some noticeable oddities/annoyances during our stay ... such as weird noises throughout the entire night, people talking all around us via the extremely thin walls, an overly too soft/creaking bed which resulted in restless sleep for both of us where we woke with back/neck pains, the unusual/original/inoperable patio slider that led to nowhere, and the constant static only on tv channel ABC which sounded extraterrestrial. Otherwise, the staff was super friendly and we might consider returning again ... though maybe not days from Halloween like this time?!? read more

The rooms are cute. I was pleasantly surprised by the food to be honest. It was almost gourmet like and decent sized portions. They're very understaffed which causes delays but overall it wasn't a bad experience. Check in was the worse because the same gentleman running the bar was handling checks in. We arrived at 10:30 at night and didn't get to our room until almost 11:15. Check out was a breeze however. read more

Excellent value for the price. + The rooms are clean, spacious, and well-appointed. + Both checking-in and checking-out were efficient and accommodating. + Breakfast is not free but is available, and the restaurant also provides an ample menu of standard cafe/grill fare at decent prices for the rest of the day. + The location is very convenient to the New Carrolton train station, which serves Amtrak, MARC, and WMATA Metro trains, as well as a number of bus lines. Best part about transportation is that the hotel provides free shuttle service to and from the train station from morning to early evening (shout out to our cheerful driver Vilma) , making it a very practical alternative to much more expensive lodging within driving-unfriendly DC if you are doing business or touring for one of several days. I prefer to stay on the first floor of a hotel. I was put in a room that is DIRECTLY across a narrow hallway (~4 feet) from a meeting room. Two of the 4 mornings that I was there, I was awakened early (~5:30 am) by employees setting up the room. On the last morning, I heard a loud door banging closed every 20-30 seconds for 30 minutes, then it slowed down to every 2 to 3 minutes. On my first morning, a breakfast meeting was held in the room starting sometime between 6:30-7:30 am, serving at least 25 people that was held with the door OPEN. You can imagine how noisy that was! This is a terrible design for a hotel. What's worse, though, is that guests are put in the rooms directly across from the meeting room. At the very least, the hotel should refrain from placing guests in rooms 174 to 182. If it were not for the early morning racket, I would have rated this hotel as a 4 or 5 (if free/tea coffee was served in the lobby/breakfast area) . The double rooms are spacious and clean. The view from the first floor rooms is onto a garden/patio courtyard in the center of the hotel. There are 2 wicker chairs and a small table outside the sliding glass doors, but I don't think the sliding glass doors actually open (at least I couldn't figure out how to do it). I appreciated having daily housekeeping services, although I wasn't expecting it. Finally, be aware that large groups (100+) of high school students descend on the hotel during the summers to come visit the nation's Capitol. read more

Top notch SERVICE and Hotel Stay by Courtyard by Marriott! Our 2 night stay for our Tour of Washington D.C. was complemented by our stay at Courtyard Marriott. The Hotel exceeded our expectations by first and foremost Service provided by the Staff. Hotel keys ready upon our arrival, designated UP FRONT parking for both motor coaches , enough staff at the time of arrival for the hustle and bustle of settling in for the evenings, breakfast ready ON TIME, A SERVER at breakfast ( attention to detail), the staff servicing us did not have to leave their post for any reason, not even to replenishment, many options for breakfast as you can see in my photos(expectations) beds offered comfy and peaceful night's sleep, although my room was on the same floor as the kids, once they jumped on their beds and felt the pillow it hypnotized them to lay down and rejuvenate their bodies . The area is newly developed as well as the Hotel, all in all Marriott took over and offered what's expected of a Marriot branded Hotel. I heard NO side disapproval comments from the kids nor adults, we went back for seconds, thirds and fourths and again more than enough. This Courtyard by Marriott is a GREAT stay for Tour Groups and Family Reunions. Would I use my own money for a stay here? Absolutely!! read more

I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott New Carrollton Landover for a weekend. I got exactly what I paid for. This hotel lobby is clean. I guess that is what they focused on instead of cleaning the room I was in. Thankfully, I had brought my own bedsheets since the ones the hotel was using had hair and lipstick stains; it was truly disgusting. Also, I believe this hotel is primarily likely being used as a sex trafficking hub because of the number of indecent people going in and out of rooms and the loud noises I heard. The walls are incredibly paper-thin. If I could give this hotel zero stars I would, I do not recommend anyone especially if you have a family to stay here. read more

This place sucks. I booked for 2 nights Friday-Sunday. The first night at around 3AM after checking in at around 9PM Friday night, we woke up sweating... the AC wasn't working. The person at the front desk sent someone to check and he agreed the air was out. I asked for something of my room because who wants to switch rooms at 4AM. She told me she couldn't. I didn't even mention that the sink was stopped up but I wasn't worrying about that until the AC was out. I called back in the morning for some type of credit and again I was told no, then the operations supervisor decided to give me $5 off a night... what a joke but I said okay whatever. She also said you didn't complain about it when you arrived. Well I arrived at 9, showered and laid down. Furthermore, you know I'm not lying even the maintenance guy said it was hot. As long as I wasn't complaining about it, then it wasn't an issue. I was confused by the statement. On to the next room and I came to the conclusion that the hotel AC just sucks! My sister asked why did I choose that hotel and honestly I have no clue as to why... I just booked something, but I won't be staying here again and I advise anyone if you like decent hotels... this isn't it! read more

So this visit it seemed like the hotel was really representative of the reviews on Yelp. My family and I were put up in a room on the bottom floor, which had a futon and a double bed. There is a crease from when the bed folds out of the couch. The best way I found to sleep was in a fetal position. The toilet had a latency period (waiting time to flush again) that was quite long. The door of the bathroom was out of frame and dragging each time to open. My parents and I were comped breakfast. They set us up in another room where there were two double beds. This time, the toilet had a filling sound for the longest time (still flushable). Middle of the night, my mom received a notice from management that water was going to be shut off in the morning. Comped for breakfast again on that. Breakfast, particularly "The Balanced Breakfast Sandwich" was salty. I would have given it a 2/5, but filling. Breakfast menu changes every Thursday? The 2nd comp breakfast, the gal working the nook ended up giving a fruit side instead of potatoes. My family received both for the breakfast platter. So many errors, but the breakfast was like $100 value. read more

My husband and I visited Baltimore MLK weekend for my friend's baby shower. We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott New Carrollton. I must admit upon arriving we were skeptical ( the outside of the building looks old ). Upon entering, the lobby was clean and you can tell they are upgrading this hotel. You can tell the lobby and hallways were recently updated. Kevin checked us in and out and he was so nice, and professional and even told us where the local target was ( I'm a target girl ). Oh yeah! Kevin recommended staying in section c as it would be convenient if we were going to be in and out a lot and his recommendation was SPOT ON!!! We had an issue with our refrigerator ( it wasn't cold ), Ashley or Aubury, I can't remember ( she worked Saturday night) was on top of it by having a staff member come out to fix it. The hotel still seems run down ( I say still based on previous reviews). My first room the AC unit or window caused the carpet to be so wet that water was visible when you stepped on it. The info sheet they hand you says rooms will be cleaned every other day, mine was cleaned twice during my 2 week stay. Once upon request and the second time was one week from my arrival. There is a security guard walking the halls, so I suspect security is an issue. The breakfast is edible but not that good. I tried the breakfast sandwich which was really greasy and the bacon was almost too tough to bite through. The balanced breakfast sandwich choice would have been fine except it was e trembly salty. I think that added unadvertised olives on it which was just too much. The fruit cups that came with the balanced sandwiches were pre-assembled and were starting to turn bad. A mostly quiet property where we stayed for a Redskins game and as an operations base for going into DC on the Metro. Standard Courtyard setup with paid breakfast and a fancy lobby area. It's not quite as close to the Fedex Field as I thought it was, but that seemed to work out okay. The hotel shuttle doesn't go to the game, but they do have a deal with a local limo service. For us, $15 a person. Good deal. The hotel shuttle *does* go to the Metro station, which is also an Amtrak and Greyhound station. We did put a do not disturb on the door when we went out, but they did the room anyway. Maybe someone stole our sign? read more

This Courtyard is old and worn. I'm giving it two stars for the friendly front desk people. Getting to the room was a maze. It would have been helpful to have bread crumbs to know how to get back to the lobby but we used the trash and pizza crust as landmarks. We encountered three parties of lost people as we tried to find the bistro. Maps along the hallway did not contain the "you are here dots". The rooms need an overhaul. The walls were patched but not by a professional. The marble threshold leading to the bathroom has a huge chip making it a tripping hazard. Bistro food was hot and flavorful. read more

This Was one of the worst hotel experiences ever. I traveled to Landover, MD to bury my uncle. Ive decided to book a room here for two nights, and upon checking in I was told breakfast would be included in the am; as said on the advertisement. The was no breakfast accommodations, but they sold breakfast. In my room there was no tissue or trash bags for the one trash can in the room. The worst part of it all , the day of checking out I left my room for coffee and return to my bags being gone through , and my iPad stolen. They didn't even make the bed, I can't make this stuff up. I reported it to the front desk, and was told that they were going to go over the cameras. I had to catch my flight , so I headed to the airport. upon arrival I called the hotel for an update, and was told they would get back to me. its been 3 days.... read more

The last time I passed through I tried some food from the bar/bistro and was really impressed: I was so tired that I would totally have resignedly accepted fast-food quality to avoid leaving the building but instead of that I had a lovely time sitting there in a cozy armchair with delicious cheese-encrusted brussels sprouts and a nice drink before going to bed early, it was extremely nice. read more

The staff was very nice and accommodating. Our room was standard, pretty clean and comfortable. The outside however is gross. There seems to be no outdoor maintenance- we parked on a side parking lot and just in that small area there was busted out glass like someone's vehicle had been broken into, chicken wing bones and a used tampon. They were there for the duration of our stay which tells me there's no one doing parking lot sweeps or checks. The side door's glass was cracked and taped together; as well as another door that should be locked that did not latch all the way so anyone off the street could walk in. This is definitely one of the worst Marriott properties I've been to. We stayed here due to its proximity to FedEx field but I don't know that I'd come here again. Online I got a AAA rate of $80 for the room ($90 total), which is a great price, and the room was good. The lobby is very attractive. I did not see the pool during my stay. My room had mini fridge and in-room coffee, but no microwave. TV and bathroom were good so I have no complaints about the room. The only drawback is the lack of free breakfast. I had forgotten that one of the main concepts of Courtyard hotels is that breakfast is not included. There is a full-service breakfast and lunch restaurant located in a high-rise building across the street, and it's quite decent and without super high prices. Overall I was pleased with my choice for this one-night stay near Washington DC. read more

1 star because it won't let me do zero. Room had a slight smell. Toilet seat was uncomfortable and it kept running sporadically. Of the 43 channels most were news/weather and HBO and some of the other non news weren't working. There wasn't even a channel guide in the room and had to get a printed guide from the front desk. And rather then having microwaves in the room they had a few out in the hall if anyone wanted one. Staff was pleasant but that doesn't outweigh everything else. I chose this hotel because it was close to my office - almost within walking distance. The hotel has been renovated - a modern look to the lobby and updated furnishings, carpet, and granite counter tops in the rooms. Although I didn't use the pool or the fitness center, it's always a good thing when a hotel has them, especially for free. One upside to the room was the mini-fridge. I like to keep bottles of water handy and having the fridge to keep them cold was nice. I'm also glad they finally brought a restaurant back to the Courtyard hotels. The Bistro isn't perfect, but at least you have an option of eating at your hotel instead of venturing out. I found the dinner options to be more tasty than the breakfast options, but the food was like eating a pre-packaged meal at the airport. Although it looks fresh, something about it says it's not. And while it hit the spot, it's not super delicious. What surprised me about this hotel was how nice everyone who worked there was - from the front desk to the restaurant. I never got an attitude from anyone, and they were usually more than helpful. The shuttle driver was always on hand to give me a ride to the train station and to pick me up. And when I was ready to leave for the airport, they called a reliable taxi driver to take me. The only real negative to this hotel is its location. While it's close to offices, it's far from conveniences - restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations etc. The nearest area of these sorts is about 3 miles away. But the hotel is close to the New Carrollton train station so it's easy to hop the train into a busier area if you don't have a car. The hotel and its services alone are three stars, but the customer service I received earned this hotel the fourth star. I would definitely stay here again and recommend others do as well. I was not to impressed with this Marriott property. We came in late at night because of a late flight in. We were given a room that was larger than we reserved, but it felt like it was a room that they did not regularly fill. The furniture seemed dingy and the lighting I the room was terrible. In the bathroom they want you use the pump soap and shampoo which is all good if they are filled. The soap was empty in our room. Also thought that it was strange that housekeeping was knocking on the door already before 8:00 AM. After such a late night arrival, we had barely woken up before they were knocking. We did have a quick bite to eat in the bistro. The food was good and e wait staff were friendly. We were the only two people in the bistro at the time, but it was still pleasant. read more

This is probably the worst courtyard by Marriott I have stayed in. I stayed for four nights. One star because the room seemed fine and clean. Pretty standard. The service was terrible. They advertise the kitchen/Starbucks area but do not let that fool you. Espresso was not working my entire time there. Also, very rarely someone at the front desk to be able to check in or out to. The door to get out stopped working. I needed to extend my stay by one night because my flight got delayed. Two employees assured me that I could stay in the same room. 12:50 at night a male employee comes barging in trying to clean it. They didn't tell the cleaning staff. Very terrible especially with a 6:00am flight. The front desk didn't do anything about it. Would not recommend anyone stay here. There are a lot of other nicer hotels in the area. read more

It took me 30 minutes to check in. there was only one front desk person and a large group checking in. the elevators are very far away from check-in. the hotel is right off the highway, so I am currently laying here unable to sleep bc I hear nothing but semi trucks. the rooms are nice and comfortable, but I can't enjoy it with truck horns keeping me awake and a huge group of annoying teenagers in the parking lot and in the rooms all around me. I will be looking for something farther out and smaller next time. The staff is nice, but they are overwhelmed. read more

I stayed here recently and while they followed and practiced safety measures for COVID, they were lacking basic things. First, my phone in my room didnt work. Second, I didn't have any washcloths in my room. So, as a result of my phone not working, I had to walk to the front desk and tell her. (It wasn't a short walk either smh.) One of the worst stays I've had. We were put in a room that had a leak in the ceiling...when we called down to request to be moved, it is as if our first request was ignored. We waited two hours as they said someone would bring up a key. It was 7 am and by 9 am we had to call down and explain again. Nobody seemed to care that we had a leak or that now we had to move. The restaurant refused to serve us dinner, claiming it was too backed up! I suppose in the end it's good we didn't eat there because my husband spotted a rat in the lobby!!! The night manager is a man that has been given a tiny bit of power and abuses it. We were staying here with friends and that manager kicked them out for a total miscommunication! I travel a lot, have stayed at numerous Marriott properties, this was by far the worst!! read more

This is a nice place to stay 8 miles outside of Washington DC, with FREE ample parking. It is very close to the New Carrollton Metro/Amtrak station where you can park your car all day for @ $5. Since New Carrollton is at the very end of the Orange Line, it's a piece of cake to get back after touring DC. (I believe the hotel also offers a shuttle service to and from the station, or it's a 10-minute walk.) My only complaint about our room was not having a fan in the bathroom. And we couldn't figure out how to open the screen door to our balcony -- maybe they don't open. (I guess we could have asked!) The beds are nice, and It was lovely to have the mini fridge in the room, but the coffee makers are super low-budget, with flimsy paper cups. We tried a meal at the Bistro which was very expensive for a mediocre sandwich -- it really should have been half the price. Overall, it's a nice comfortable stay which I recommend to avoid the excessive overnight parking fees you will pay in DC. Obviously, free/cheap parking is important to me! read more

In 2019, I've stayed at over 120 nights at hotels, 85% were Marriott hotels. January 2020 started off with 18 hotel nights at Courtyard New Carrollton. I am well adverse with hotel life and I can sincerely my stay was awesome. Pros: Shawn, Talene, Diamond, and the rest of the hotel staff were superb host; all were super friendly and treated me as a valued customer. I also witness the excellent customer service the hotel staff provided to many other guests, so I wasn't the only guest treated like a valued customer. The hotel itself is modern with a comfortable look and feel. Nice lobby with plenty of space to sit and a fire place that adds to the pleasant atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and have all the amenities for a long term stay. My bed was very comfortable. My room wasn't cluttered with a bunch of unless furniture either, allowing for space to move around. The daily maid service was very good. The gym is small but decent, it has all the basics for a workout. The hotel's bistro is a must try. It severs a quality meals for breakfast and dinner (BTW Talene & Diamond make a killer hot chocolate). Much difference and a welcomed change from the traditional continent breakfast served at most Courtyards. Parking is complimentary and there are plenty of parking spots. There is a shuttle bus that will take you to the metro station and pick you up. The drivers were very friendly and full of good information about how to use the metro and recommendations to play tourist. The Wi-Fi is free and pretty fast. I had no issues connecting to the web, and I was able to stream videos/movie with ease. Cons/area to improved: there is only one washer and dryer, which could be a challenge to wash clothes during the busy season; there's only one elevator and it's on the opposite side of the lobby; and there are no USB plugs (socket type) in the rooms. Highly recommend this hotel. I plan to stay here again on my next business trip to the WashDC area. read more

My room was clean, the staff was nice, and the location was great for work. What wasn't so good was that the outdoor courtyard was messy, I could hear the interstate from my room, and the location felt like it was in the middle of no where. Even though there was no gas station, restaurants, shops, or market within 1 mile radius, the place was very close to the interstate exit/entrance. The place wasn't too bad but I will have to think twice before coming back. read more

Nice hotel with all the amenities, but isolated if you're looking to get out. The area is generally warehouse/industrial so there's not much to do, but the Metro is about a 10-minute walk. The Ardmore-Ardwick liquor store is right around the way so you can get into some OTB or scratch offs. Weekends you might even be able to get into a dice game or slap bones. Good times. read more

We stayed here for a Redskins game in December. When we checked in we were notified that they were doing free breakfast as a Christmas gift, which was a nice suprise. Needless to say, there was always a huge line in the morning for breakfast in the cafe and a lot of things got sold out quickly, but it was nice. They offered a shuttle to the metro station, but we drove to the stadium. The hotel is standard Marriott, and was clean and the staff was friendly. read more
