Baby roach in the shower
Melissa F.

By far one of the nastiest motels I've stayed in. I only stayed one night then booked another hotel elsewhere. As soon as I walked in there was a odd smell in the room, and I should have just left when I opened the mini fridge and two roaches ran out. Unfortunately it was late when I checked in and I was exhausted from my dialysis treatment earlier so I didn't have it in me to pack my stuff back into an Uber and search for a hotel in the middle of the night. There was a baby roach in the shower along with someone else's body hair, two of the outlets were not useable due to being loose or having metal prongs broken off inside the outlet. If I'd paid like $40 for this room then I'd expect these conditions but at nearly $80 a night one would think they'd put in a little more effort to keeping the property in clean and appealing conditions. Definitely won't stay here again!

Across the highway close to Denny's my favorite restaurant. Close to Walmart Target Ross bus service close to Yellow line Huntington so you can get around with no problem leave your car parlay the hotel go into DC Maryland. Not my first time here I stayed longer when I was looking for home to buy. I plain in staying here again my friend and I.

Ok, I booked this hotel for two reasons: 1. Free WiFi 2. Pool Now, I was happy with the pool. Played in it for hours. The WiFi, on the other hand, was annoying the crap out of me. I used my data plan for most of the nights spent there. The hotel was about 30 minutes from the national monuments and 15 minutes from my brother's fort. Luckily, I booked with Expedia, so I paid a lot less for the going rate. Otherwise, I would've raised more hell for having spotty internet.

This is not the 'newest' hotel, but the staff were very friendly, the room was clean & the breakfast was what we expected.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Alexandria Old Town - April 2026…read more In planning for a 2026 visit from my sister, we focused on how best to experience the Cherry Blossom Festival in the Tidal Basin and the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. She would be arriving on Amtrak from Wilmington, and my apartment is in Old Town Alexandria, so we looked for hotels adjacent to Metro's King Street station (which serves Amtrak, the VRE, and the Yellow and Blue rail lines, in addition to several bus lines. There are several excellent hotel choices at King Street station, but one that stands out is the Embassy Suites, right across the street from the Amtrak/Metro rail station. The hotel is family-friendly, spacious, clean, and safe. There's a wonderful made-from-scratch breakfast for all guests, along with a 90-minute happy hour featuring complimentary drinks (2 per person) in the early evening. My sister's room was ready when we arrived at around 3 p.m., and as we checked her in we found the room's TV welcomed us by name. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was equipped with sustainable dispensers for the shower (no single-use plastics in the room). The room was quiet and remained that way throughout the two nights my sister stayed there. During our stay the presence of families with young children was evident - kids were clearly enjoying themselves and were exploring features of the hotel geared especially for young children. We found hotel staff members helpful, not intrusive, and alert to the needs of the hotel's guests. On the same street half a block away there's Theismann's Restaurant & Bar, which offers a full bar and a well-crafted menu of moderate- to high-priced American dishes. I've recommended nearby hotels in the past, and those recommendations remain. I can now add the Embassy Suites to the list. It offers ready access to the entire District-Maryland-Virginia region served by Metro and related regional public transit services, and is a great point of embarkation when exploring Northern Virginia and D.C.

During my stay I did not have any noise problems. At times a stray door slam as they are not soft close doors. I was surprised that the cleaning crew came in and made my bed and straightened things up during my two night stay. I really appreciated that. The front desk staff were helpful and engaging.'bonus that they will hold your bags after checkout so we could walk around before our train departure. We did take advantage of the breakfast. It was actually pretty decent. I opted for a few hot items, a blueberry muffin and oatmeal. It was good. I also had the opportunity to eat a little dinner in the restaurant area. We opted for chicken nachos. They were delicious. My friend opted for a glass or wine and I downed water after water. Our waitress was so kind. We had the whole room to ourselves. I took a star away due to the appearance and condition of the hot tub. It really could have used a good skim, and the cement wall really needed a good scrub. Overall a great stay and I would stay again.

They have valet here and the valet folks were really busy, but accommodating when we needed to quickly drop off our vehicle. The guy checking me in upgraded me to a suite, which was a nice surprise. The common areas in this hotel were beautiful and kept up nicely. When we got to the room it was nicely set up and quite large. The bathroom wasn't very impressive though, it featured a tub with shower curtain - many nicer properties have been updated to remove the tubs and replace them with shower systems. The other issue with this tub was that it didn't drain well, which wasn't fun when taking a shower. The TV in the room was kind of small for how big the room was and how far away the TV was from the bed. Also, the TV had streaming services, but no Pluto. I've been loving having Pluto on Marriott TVs lately. The bed was comfy and the HVAC worked well and wasn't too loud. Overall, it was a nice stay, even though we literally got there around 5PM and put our bags in the room and left, staying out past midnight before returning, then waking up, showering, and heading out around 9AM. So, we weren't there nor in the room very long, but it was perfect for our needs. I'd stay here again.

Old Town Alexandria

I love almost everything about this hotel. All the pros and some minor gripes, including individual…read moreratings of each, are as follows: LOCATION (5/5) We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay for our first visit to Alexandria. It's right across the street from the waterfront on Union Street, like two blocks over from King Street. About a two minute walk to the shops. Absolutely beautiful area. Extremely easy to get around from here. PARKING (4/5) There was some street parking available on the weekdays we were here, but the weekend was crowded. The hotel has an underground parking garage but it is available to both hotel guests (for an extra daily fee) AND the general public. While spaces were plentiful during the week, the company that manages the garage absolutely stuffs it full on weekends. I'm talking cars parked 2-3 deep, so if you need to leave quickly, you're SOL. Giving this a 4/5 because we didn't have to deal with parking out in town and never had to leave quickly. If we did, my rating would be a lot lower, eek! PRICE & VALUE FOR THE $ (5/5) Rooms include a ton of perks, such as a $50 daily credit for the restaurant on-site (Hummingbird), a $15 daily credit for the market in the lobby, and discounts at a handful of nearby shops. FACILITY (4/5) The hotel is beautiful inside and out. I found the artwork hung in the rooms a bit funky/mismatched and the frame sizes were odd (very small) for the size of the rooms. At least they tried, lol. One of my biggest gripes, though, is the barn door on the in-room bathroom. The door doesn't close all the way and is sort of held shut by a little latch. I stayed in the room with my elderly mom and teen daughter... we each appreciate our privacy in the bathroom. We couldn't use the room's full-size mirror hanging by the door because if we did, we'd be looking right into the partially-open bathroom when someone was in there. It was weird. Wouldn't have been as bad if it were just my husband and I, but... not a fan. Aside from that, the room was clean and modern. We had a tiny sliver of a view of water. In hindsight, I wish I would've asked for a full water view! FOOD (5/5) This hotel does NOT have a traditional dining room and buffet-type breakfast. However, Hummingbird is accessible from the lobby/elevator area and is absolutely DELICIOUS. See my other review about Hummingbird for images and details. Our reservation (the one that includes breakfast) included a $50 daily credit to the restaurant which was awesome. We actually saved money doing it this way... we didn't pay much more for the "with breakfast" reservation than the "without" one, maybe $20 more? So a $50 credit was well worth it. STAFF (100/5) The very best part of the stay by far. Marshay, Marshay, Marshay. She was AMAZING. We had so many questions about the area and our stay. She was so sweet and patient with our questions, gave us so much amazing advice about the area, remembered us when we'd stop at the desk each day to use our market credits, and was just generally so pleasant. Every time we saw her, she just seemed so happy and excited about her job and helping guests. Hotel Indigo is lucky to have her. OVERALL (5/5) I would absolutely stay here again. In fact, next time we visit the area, we *will* stay here again. Excellent experience! Side note: Another review mentions no cell phone service here. We have AT&T and had zero issues. Cell service was strong and the hotel's WiFi worked smoothly as I worked on my laptop each evening.
