Missing smoke detecter.
Lowrey T.

Wow! Where to begin... This place is a hot mess. The portico at the entrance was falling down, perhaps instigated by a oversized vehicle. There was only one hostess working the counter (she was polite, though). Our room was next to a loud, drunken party. We asked for another room, only to get one with a busted up desk, cracked shower stall, missing refrigerator, and a missing smoke detecter. Plus, the ice maker wasn't working. Our third room option was passable, but I had to move the desk to plug in the TV. Really? The pool water-level was down a couple feet and had the creamy pallor of Mountain Dew, and there is only one, sad looking elevator for the whole building. My advise?... try elsewhere.

My husband and I got married at this venue on October 5, 2024. We toured this venue on March 19,…read more2023. When we had first toured the venue we were told that the base price was 7900 which included the day of one hour rehearsal, and set up of tables for reception and ceremony when we had toured the venue it was a seemingly nice venue, family owned and very communicative. After we had chosen this venue for our wedding day and put down our deposit we were then told that we would not be able to schedule our wedding rehearsal until the week of the wedding, this came as a shock since we were not told this when we had first toured the venue. As time went on, I would frequently message and email the person I had toured with which was Kerry the woman who owns the venue. Whenever I reached out or asked a question there was a very late response, short response or no response at all. The only time that the people from the venue were responsive was when it came to money. Also, when it came to money, they recommended that we paid everything in cash in which we did I would follow up, always asking for some sort of receipt or documentation in which they never provided any. Finally, when the wedding came, we were able to book the rehearsal a few days before the wedding. We also had to do our bar services through the venue since they do not let you provide your own alcohol or your own bartenders. You have to do a package through the venue. The day of the wedding was fine, but there were a few things that I would like to note. The bar staff came right before the bar opened at seven and nothing was prepared. They served warm beer and barely had any mixers. The wedding guest complained about the drinks, the service and the lack of accommodation. For example, we had to provide our own water so my mom went and bought 6/7 cases of water which they did not give to guests so at the end of the night she just ended up taking them home. The father of the groom even went up to order at one point and was not serviced right away, even though there were three bartenders and no one in line for the bar. For bar services we paid over $6000 for three hours of open bar for 150 guests. I also want to note that prior to the wedding. I had reached out to Cody (son of Kerry) who also works for the venue and asked if the caterer that we hired would be able to serve beer/wine which he had quickly responded with a yes, when the day of the wedding came, the bartender said they would not be able to give the beer or wine to the waitresses due to, the possibility of it being served to people under 21. Also, during the ceremony we had popped some confetti made out of paper. Quickly after the manager, that was there came up to some of our guests/ wedding party that had popped the confetti and had asked them to immediately clean it up rather than asking them to do it at least by the end of the day. There was also a situation with the projector, not working. We had made a slideshow to show our guest and the projector was not working properly. After the wedding, I followed up with the venue to let them know about my experience which I spoke with the owner and she had excuses for why she was absent and just reiterated how great their venue is despite our experience. I'm writing this review to warn others who are looking into finding a venue for their special day. I would not recommend working with this venue, considering they are unresponsive, not accommodating, sketchy. Not sure who all this situation is relatable for but I hope no one else has to experience this type of unprofessional service.

It is also a work/study space for student of Davidson College. Flywheel Co-Working operates here. Common area in the front is open to the public during business hours. Conference rooms with smart TV's can be rented at an hourly rate. The large common room in the front of the building can be rented for private/work events as well. Many seminars take place at the hub. If your business needs a physical address but you don't want to rent an office or have mail sent to your home address, you can rent a mailbox to have your mail sent to a physical address. Coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and kombucha can be purchased by anyone visiting the space (and for those who rent office space, everything but the Kombucha is included in your monthly rental fee. Free beer for Flywheel Members, too. Wohoo! Usually something local and great.) This space has two large bathrooms and also a unisex bathroom. Generally speaking, this is a gorgeous and modern space, complete with West Elm furniture, sleek wood and tile finishes, and exposed brick walls that nod to the history held in this building. The business I work for leases office space from Flywheel, and we love it. Great opportunity!

I had a really disappointing experience here because of how the woman at the front desk treated me…read more My sister and I were working and taking meetings in two rooms that we genuinely did not realize were reserved for students. When she let us know, I explained that I was already in the middle of a meeting and asked if I could have 30 minutes to finish before moving, especially since no one was waiting to use the room and it was otherwise completely empty. Instead of handling the situation with even basic kindness or professionalism, she was extremely rude, unfriendly, and dismissive. She interrupted my meeting multiple times, demanding that I leave immediately, despite my explaining that I was actively on a work call. I ultimately had to close the door just so I could finish my meeting without being interrupted again. I completely understand that certain rooms may be reserved and would have had absolutely no issue moving once that was explained to me. The problem was entirely in **how** the situation was handled. There was no reason to speak to us so disrespectfully over an honest mistake, particularly when the room wasn't even needed at that moment. Customer service and basic kindness go a long way. Unfortunately, this interaction made what otherwise could have been a perfectly normal experience incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I would not return based on how we were treated.

We dressed like old ladies and had a ball. We decided to bowl for 2 hours. I like that they have the option for time versus games. Even though we arrived in the afternoon, the lighting was great in the bowling area. We ordered food. I got the philly cheesestake and an Angry Orchard. I wish the beer would be served in a cold glass but it came in plastic branded cups. The waitstaff was tickled by our outfits and they treated us really nice. I guess next time I come, the whole family will come together. I really want to try out the go-karts.

We also each had two drink tickets to use on an assortment of beer and wine. The food was good- standard quality for this type of place- and the service was attentive and friendly. After the dinner hour, we had an hour reserved for a couple bowling lanes and then we each had a $25 credit card to use on games and rides. I tried a go kart for the first time and it was definitely a memorable experience. Other rides available include a carousel, pirate ship, and even an indoor drop. There are a ton of games - minigolf, race cars, shooters, etc but I prefer some classics like skee ball and basketball. This place is massive, and for its size, appears to be very well maintained, clean and tidy. Since we arrived on a weeknight, it wasn't too crowded but I could see it getting much busier on a weeknight. It's probably expensive to enjoy an afternoon or full day here, but there is definitely something for everyone. @azfitfoodfun

There is no AC in the hallways or elevators. AC in room was fantastic however. Like most of America, they are understaffed and have the employees doing multiple jobs. Poor maintenance guy was also cleaning and doing housekeeping. There were stains on the carpet in the room, cracked or chipped paint on the walls, the bathroom was missing the lock and had a completely different set of handles on the inside of the door. The housekeeping I did see was phenomenal. The breakfast was at best mediocre. I will say the front house staff was excellent and friendly. The place was clean. The mattress in the room i stayed in needs to be replaced. Sheets were soft. Towels were hard and uncomfortable. Being your own pillows as theirs are very small and lumpy. Lots of light in the rooms, lots of plug in spots. Loved the ceiling fan in the room. They had a mini fridge and microwave in room and they worked perfectly. Lots of counter space in this room thankfully. They have no secure internet, but they do have decent internet but anyone can jump on it. Water pressure in shower was good. Please get rid of the extra soap dish, elbow bruises will come for others like myself, who are shorter. Overall, my king room had plenty of space. It was clean. It was a homey space when I needed it. Staff was pleasant. I'm not sure I would stay here again but they are pet friendly so that is a huge plus! I was not disappointed in anything really but the breakfast and the no air in hallways/elevators. With a few upgrades this place would be fantastic.

Clean, comfortable, great price for a stop over on our way back to Florida from Pennsylvania.read more
