This was an amazing property!! Ms. Musa at the bar is a dream!! It was really clean and they're so accommodating to our team!

Overall nice experience. The facility itself is clean and well maintained. The rooms are basic but the furniture, bedding and beds themselves are like new or in great shape. Everything was clean and in good repair. Staff in the lobby and bar were professional, helpful and kind. It was refreshing after spending 3 days at another hotel in Lexington, VA. that is supposed to be comparable in quality and cost that was worn out, dirty and looked generally unkempt. read more

I just stayed 5 nights while my wife was in UVA hospital. While not the closest, once you need to use the car to go back and forth, what is an extra 2-3 miles if it is worth it. And I found that it was. #1 the rates are great for a Marriott property. #2 -It was clean, #3 the internet and wi-fi was solid, and the rooms are large. Trifecta- As a 7-year Platinum, I felt appreciated and could contrast the property with others that may be newer, but not "nicer" I do really like the traditional courtyard design when the weather is nice, and they have placed an abundant amount of nice furniture out there. The staff were stellar. The bathroom lamp burned out and they were there within 5 minutes to replace it with a smile at 9pm. There are plenty of reasonable places to dine immediately near the property that are not solely student focused. Only downside, and not a deal breaker, the spa in the pool photos has been covered over like so many other hotel properties. Towels were plentiful, and pool water clear. The lobby area was pleasant, and well-appointed as well. read more

Located outside of Charlottesville, a good inn to stop and grab some ZZZs. The rooms were clean and the staff were nice. There was currently renovations, but we had no issues with the construction. It had a great bistro in the lobby, that of course we grabbed some brews before heading in for the night. All and all a good stay read more

I stayed here for a few nights for work; having chose this particular Marriott because the last one I stayed in on West Main in Downtown was a place I previously rated a 2 out of 5. Upon checking in, the girl at the front desk didn't mention anything about my Platinum perks and ask what I wanted, she was swift at checking me in though. She gave me two card keys and told me they don't do daily room refreshing unless I ask for it, so I asked for it. Issue I have, she was so quick to check me in, she never told me nor wrote down my room number, just gave the keys and was about to walk away, until I asked her for the room number. Interestingly enough, I've stayed in hundreds of Marriotts over the years, but the very first I ever stayed in was this exact location, back in the early-mid 90's (for work then too) and when I walked into the hall to the room and then the room, it looked as it they hadn't done much updating since then! (I kid of course, because obviously had to, but it's hardly noticeable and poorly kept up). The bed was comfy, which is something I found to be common with most all Marriotts. The bathroom wasn't kept up very nicely and the shower curtain not only had black mold all over it, it smelled nasty and moldy too. The TV and remote worked just fine. The desk was comfy and useable, especially with an outlet very close by. There was sufficient lighting in the room and outlets around the bed as well. One nig gripe I have is that I told the desk lady (upon checking in) that I really wanted someone to refresh my room daily and she wrote that down. But after my first long day (14 hours long) working, I came back to a room that wasn't refreshed and fortunately, I didn't use all the towels, so I was able to take a shower and had what I needed. The next morning, I went to the desk and talked to a gentleman there and he said he'd have it refreshed, which he did. Seems to be a trend in the C'ville area to have Marriotts that aren't up to snuff. My co-workers have given up on Marriotts and use the nearby Hilton properties now. I'd make the switch too, if I wasn't working on Titanium. I guess sometimes, loyalty has its disadvantages too. read more

I have stayed here in the past while traveling on business. Convenient location and economical. However, hotel is currently going through some renovations and does not have any amenities available. Pool is closed permanently. Fitness center needs some major TLC. Bistro is closed but didn't seem to be because of renovations. There was a sign posting the hours of operation (should have been open) but when I asked the front desk she simply said "closed" and looked back at her phone. Would suggest another Marriott property until they complete renovations and figure out staffing. read more

Okay, so my hubby is an honors member (or whatever the program is). Used points on a concert weekend, got a crappy location. Check in on Thursday night, front desk employee said 2 words to us. Friday morning- mirror faces closet door. I spot a brown cockroach crawling on the door while getting ready. Not enough towels per person. They use the pumps rather than bar soap and small shampoos. Two body washes, a shampoo, no conditioner. Front desk clerk that morning awesome. Corrected it. Friday night- sitting the in lobby enjoying an after concert snack. Same front desk staff. She locks the door, shut off all the lights and disappeared. The lobby bathroom was being renovated and two rooms were set aside instead for bathroom use. One was locked when we walked past. Pretty sure she went to sleep in there. Saturday morning- housekeeping knocked and asked us if we needed anything. More towels. We got them but didn't realize it was instead of a daily cleaning. Good location. Food items at the hotel over priced but so many fast options within a mile. read more

Nice courtyard property in the outside center of Charlottesville. The rooms were clean and the staff was very nice. The property and rooms are a bit dated, UT not by too much. The courtyard itself in the middle of the hotel is nice, and the facilities/grounds are nice overall. It's definitely not a bad place to stay if you're in the area and need affordable lodging. read more

Rather dates courtyard. Rooms were large though and service was good. I'm just not a big fan of the original courtyard design which loops all the way around making it long wall to rooms. Also the elevator is long walk from lobby so just needed up using stairs. Comfortable stay but there are better options. read more

Dirty. No cleaning service, putrid smell in our room. Staff was nice but not knowledgeable on maid service, 3 different explanations to complaints I heard from others. I try to stay loyal to Marriott but not this property. read more

Nice hotel by a town that honestly has nothing offer besides the university and Monticello. I was down here passing through while on vacation. The hotel is comfortable and located to many local breweries and restaurants if your willing to drive a little. It is in beautiful country but I'd advise you to skip downtown Charlottesville as it has a beautiful college but really didn't seem to offer anything other than that. The hotel has a nice courtyard and all the rooms have a sliding glass door with either access or a view of it. I like that the hotel is tucked away in a wooded area even if near a highway, that keeps it quiet. The staff was nice and accommodating. read more

Went here for a night before heading to a camp at UVA. We walked in a few hours early, and the woman at check-in asked what our room preference was (2nd floor inward facing, please!). We ended up waiting about 30 minutes for the room, which was fine considering it was so early. In the meantime, my dad and I got our Marriott Platinum arrival gift, which was two water bottles, chocolate, and some granola bars. The room was okay, pretty much what you'd expect in a Courtyard. It was clean and had a new tv (with limited HD options). Looking outside into the courtyard, I noticed a trash can full of trash that hadn't been emptied. Gross. In the morning, we had breakfast with our vouchers (included in the rate) for free breakfast. Upon taking a bite of my dad's sandwich, I noticed a wad of hairs stuck in my teeth. DISGUSTING. The lady at he bistro was like "OH...sorry...I'll get you a new one". I would have expected a more sincere sorry than that. Oh well. Overall, I'd stop by if I needed to and was in C-Ville again. Decent Courtyard in an okay area. read more

Courtyard by Marriott Charlottesville - View from a second floor inside-facing balcony room. - Hotels Near Me - Charlottesville, Virginia

I normally love Courtyards, but the only way I stay here again is if there are no other options. The military rate was $141 after taxes. There was a breakfast for 1 with that rate. The room seemed nice when we first arrived, but when we pulled back the curtain we were greeted with a large bird poop on the sliding door. It didn't look like it just happened. Good luck! read more

The rooms and amenities here were good. Not much different from any other hotel in this price range. Clean, comfortable, etc. However, the staff is really what makes this place great. Every staff member I spoke to (especially Caesar) was kind, accommodating, and helpful. We had to stay in one room the first night before moving into a different room for the remaining nights (something with the rate and how it was cheaper this way) and they were awesome and getting us moved into the new room quickly that second morning. Also, the food and drinks at the Bistro are very good! Lots of healthy options too, which was nice. read more

Was a little worried based on the reviews but it was a lot less expensive than the others in town. My experience was all good. They were doing some construction but it didn't really affect me. My room was clean and the people were nice. Pillows were great. I stay in a lot of courtyards and this one is fine. I'll stay here again read more

1/3/2017 We were moving to the area of Charlottesville VA. We had booked 2 nights through hotels.com. First night was ok. Sat in the hot tub. Very relaxing considering all the travel. We ordered from the Bistro. Hot wings and hummus were good. We were tired and decided to get 2 sandwiches, a turkey club which was great and a turkey Rueben which was horrible. Too much dressing and no sauerkraut. 1/4/2017 We left early in the morning to meet movers at our new home. Booked this second night as a convenience, because our house was filled with boxes and we wanted a good nights sleep. Boy we're we surprised. Due to a "glitch" in their system the fire alarm started blasting at about 1:45 AM. ridiculous. We grabbed our suitcase and threw everything in it and vacated. We decided that because we had no idea when we might be allowed back into our room, we would drive to our new home. Boxes and all. Fortunately we were able to find blankets and pillows and our bed had been put together. 1/5/2017 My husband called first thing this AM. Sorry but not really. No consideration of a comped room or a discounted rate. We travel very frequently and will NOT be considering the Courtyard Marriott chain for any future travel. read more

This is a nice hotel, particularly for the price I found on Hotels.com. It has been renovated, but parts of the "old" hotel show through, so it's not as glamorous as other Marriotts. Our room was very clean and well stocked. As another reviewer said, there is no fan in the bathroom. The TV does not have Netflix connectivity and is not compatible with Chromecast. The pool area in general could have been cleaner in general. Charlie checked us in at the front desk and brought us a complimentary toiletry when we realized we left something at home. She was very friendly! read more

First gen Courtyard property. Everything seems to be updated and the experience from check in via Danielle at the desk to a two night stay in a clean, comfortable room with plush bath linens, strong wifi, a decent HVAC system and a decent casual meal from The Bistro prepared by Ms. Joey. All was well. Despite the long walks to the lobby area. Not a bad thing as I need the exercise. And the price was right!! Recommend. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would! Dealt with a rude staff, amenities down/not available, our TV didn't work, wouldn't switch a king size bed for two queens (even though we booked two queens) - ugh! As a Marriott rewards member, I've stayed at many, many Marriott properties over 15 years and cannot tell you how disappointed my family was at the overall experience of this Courtyard. They need serious overhaul of staff and/or re-training. read more

This Courtyard is a pleasant, if pretty standard, Courtyard Marriott experience. The rooms, lobby, and other hotel common areas are all clean and well kept. The indoor portion has been updated, though the outdoor is somewhat dated. The front desk personnel were pleasant, and checkin went quickly and easily. As with other Courtyard's, breakfast is not free even for elites, though there is an onsite "bistro" with coffee, pastries, alchohol, and a small selection salads, sandwiches, and breakfast items available at reasonable(for hotel) prices. The rooms were nice; they were clearly very clean and the furniture, bedding, etc had all clearly been updated recently. All rooms also had a balcony. The one caveat I will add is that there was only one elevator available in the corner of the building, making it quite a hike if you needed to access it. The hotel gym was quite nice, with several new machines, and lacking the usual "aroma" I find at many hotel gyms. They also had an area of publicly available computers and printers for thing such as printing a boarding pass...a minor touch, but a nice one if you need it. The location of the hotel was decent--there were restaurants and shops within walking distance, with plenty of other options a quick 5-10 minute drive away. It is, however, several miles from downtown Charlottesville/UVA, so accessing that will definitely require a car. All in all, a good experience for what Courtyard Marriott's usually are--a safe, clean place for a night's sleep, but not an "experience" destination. read more

This is a nice looking hotel, very clean and rooms are attractive. Front desk is polite and tries to be helpful but it wasn't successful in our case. We are deaf and we have travel and stayed at other hotels of this class and the television provided worked and the close captions appear with a push of a button. That not the case in our room when we couldn't even get the news programs with close caption with ease. Could not view movies with close caption, etc. I think with the rate we are paying this very minor accessory should be provided without any hassle. The law ADA stated that this accommodation is expected for deaf and hard of hearing people. I doubt we will return here for another stay because we are paying a premium rate and didn't get premium service. read more

Skip this Marriott. The "free Wifi" was SO SLOW that is was really useless. It might as well be non-existent. How long can you wait for a web page to load? I gave up and turned off Wifi ...and found that my 3G cellphone seemed blazingly fast in comparison. When I called the front desk about this, they said I should buy the paid Wifi ($5/day). No clearer example of bait-and-switch exists anywhere. There's no fan in the shower/toilet room, and no waste basket. No prices on the items in the lobby shop. On the good side: The beds were comfortable. The person at the front desk had a nice smile. How can Marriott allow its name to be used by this place? read more

It had a jacuzzi tub with the jets and mirrors -- complimentary soaps, lotions, & plenty of towels & washcloths. My bf and I went there for Valentine's Day. The price was right and included a bottle of wine and cookies. The noise level was OK. Everything else looked basic in the room. Lots of shops & restaurants nearby. It's a nice, friendly college town. read more

You know what you are getting with the Courtyard. Not my favorite place to stay in Charlottesville.... This is an older property - very clean, just older. The staff is very friendly and accommodating including every housekeeper I encountered. The lobby Bistro had great breakfast menu items and they were open until 10pm for snacks and a few cocktails. read more

I've stayed at this Marriott several times and I will admit as a Marriott Rewards member, I love the perks (clean room, friendly staff, incredibly comfortable bed etc.) but I have to say the layout of this hotel is HORRIBLE. You can't just walk up, check in and go to your room. You have to check in, go back to your car and drive around the property (which is kind of rectangular) hoping you arrive at the right door to get to your room. The property is on a hillside so there is no way to tell if you are on the basement level or the first level (property has three floors...basement, 1st and second). This is incredibly exhausting if you have been driving for hours. My advice, figure out where the pool is (which is kind of in the middle on the first floor) and walk to the left and around the corner to the right for the elevator. On the plus side...they have Starbucks coffee and the breakfast is free and FRESH. Not your average smorgasbord fare, they really make you breakfast. Once, they accidentally gave my breakfast to someone else (the guy was a jerk he just ate it and when his actual breakfast came he was like ohhh yeah I guess I did order the french toast with a giggle after he scarfed down my scrambled egg whites). They made me a new one in less than 5 minutes with the most sincerest of apologies - the food is GOOD too. They also have a selection of light dinner items, snacks, wine and beer. In the room, you get a fridge and a microwave which is convenient if you prefer to grab something from Fresh Market and just heat it up. The bed is VERY comfortable, there is a desk and plenty of electrical outlets around the room. Paul Mitchell shampoo/conditioner body lotion in the bathroom. Coffee maker in the room, nice big TV with a good selection of channels. Free WIFI is available for multiple devices too. Even though I hate the layout- I keep coming back for the good location (behind the fashion square mall) and the exceptional service. read more

The Husband and I stayed here for one night because we were attending the Monticello Wine Festival and did not want to drive back to DC after. The Husband is some kind of platinum something or other with Marriott, so we got upgraded to a two room deal. The room was nice enough and, most importantly, it was clean. We watched the television only briefly, but the television was nice and had a good channel selection. Bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were clean. Overall, a nice stay but nothing super special. read more

On check in took phone calls while checking us in, delaying check in. Gave us wrong wedding bags bec didn't bother checking first. TV went out during World Series bec of loose wires. All room power went out (only our room). On checkout, didn't ask how anything was. So disappointed. Am a Starwood member now merged with Marriott. What a terrible step down this was. I wrote this review on their website and the GM wrote: "Dear LarryK, Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us. I am so sorry you had these issues during your stay, but I am glad that we were able to resolve them quickly for you. I do hope that you will return again soon for a smoother experience! Nothing too special about this Courtyard. I usually stick with Marriott for generic travel because the quality is consistent. No free breakfast. The room was simple. If you're staying here for business, or need the internet to actually work, go some place else. They say high speed but it's closer to snail-speed. Their business center is a total joke as well and does not allow you to plug in a USB drive to print documents. They use iBahn software that is ultra old and archaic.
