Rebecca H.

We had an absolutely lovely day in Boston and this hotel made a big contribution to that. We had an appointment in Boston to get vaccines for an upcoming trip but classically, it was cancelled due to weather. We didn't have much time to reschedule so we booked it for the morning that concludes our three-consecutive-night-shift working stretch. Instead of schlepping to and from Boston back to the Worcester area, we decided to just book a hotel to crash after our appointment. Once our appointment was complete, we arrived to check in at around 11am. Our room was ready, which was very much appreciated. I will say that the person at the desk was not nice or welcoming in any way shape or form. I walked up to the desk and said, "checking in" followed by spelling out my last name. She then, rudely, said "WHAT'S THE LAST NAME?" as if she wasn't inconveniencing me by having me repeat myself. It would be completely fine if she didn't hear, but she didn't have to be a bitch. I'm sure this doesn't come as a surprise but she definitely didn't suck my D at all about my loyalty status with Marriott. The building ostensibly is an old, charming structure. There is just one small elevator but fit the two of us and our carry on, one-night-only belongings just fine. If I was going for a weekend or more with my packing history, we may have had some issues. The room was absolutely stunning. It was on the bigger side and the windows provided a beautiful view of the city and provided a ton of natural light. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and nice-sized. The shower, once I figured out how to use the faucet, was hot with a nice pressure. The towels were soft. The bed was, literally, one of the softest and most heavenly beds I have ever slept in. I actually woke up in the middle of my sleep with terrible anxiety and had difficulty falling back to sleep but once I focused on how comfortable I was, I immediately passed back out. Other than the sound of our neighbor entering and leaving a few times, the room was very quiet. Regarding the climate control, we both became pretty warm during our slumber. I went to adjust the temperature and saw that the temperature of the room, 73, was much higher than the temperature already selected, 65, and I gave up all hope of having a cooler room. Either I'm retarded or the AC doesn't work properly. We checked out shortly after midnight and there was nobody at the desk. It would have been nice to be able to verbalize that I was checking out, but I left the keys at the desk and received a receipt email by 1am. I would definitely stay here again and hope they have a different concierge and a room with working AC.

Do they allow free parking for hotel guests?

Unfortunately, they do not. Luckily there is a parking garage right in front of the hotel that charges per hour or per day.

We reported the issue to the front desk, and the staff member claim it would be repaired upon our return from our outing. Unfortunately, it was not resolved. The included breakfast hosted next door was very good. In addition, the breakfast staff employees were excellent.

The property has a fun 1960s vibe, with music front and center, turntables in every room, and a big selection of albums to choose from. Once you get past the all-black hallways, the rooms themselves are a good size, very clean, with effective HVAC, relatively quiet nights, and one of the better-designed hotel bathrooms, including actual shelf space for toiletries. Staff were solid, and the included breakfast is more substantial than the typical "free breakfast" offered by many hotels. Highly recommended; we stayed in a standard room rather than one of the converted travel-trailer suites.

On the surface, this hotel presents as polished and upscale, but over time it became clear that it is a full-on Monet--looks good at a glance, but the closer you get, the more issues appear. During my stay, I was required to move rooms three times--once voluntarily after an upgrade, and twice due to serious maintenance issues, including a sprinkler-system flood. In subsequent rooms, I experienced repeated heating failures, inconsistent hot water, and even a shower head detaching during use. The heating issues were ongoing and never fully resolved. On multiple occasions, my room dropped to 66-67 degrees despite the thermostat being set to 80. Even after maintenance visits, the room never consistently warmed beyond 75 degrees. On the morning before my departure, I woke to cold air blowing again, confirming the problem persisted through the end of my stay. Management follow-through was disappointing. Promises to check back or assist were not kept, and communication was inconsistent at best. While beverage credit was offered, it did not come close to addressing the cumulative disruption, lack of rest, and stress caused by ongoing room issues over nearly seven weeks. The saving grace of this hotel was the weekday bartender, Rebecca. Monday through Friday, she greeted my colleagues and me with genuine warmth, professionalism, and grace after very long workdays. She was consistently excellent. Unfortunately, that level of service was not present on weekends, and our group ultimately chose to avoid the hotel bar until Rebecca returned. That said, I do want to acknowledge Shirley, Wendy, James, and Nate, who were consistently kind, professional, and helpful, as well as the valet staff, who were always efficient and courteous. This hotel may work for a very short stay if expectations are modest. For long-term or extended stays, however, the operational issues, lack of follow-through, and inconsistent hospitality do not align with the image or price point the property presents.

We were on our way out to Fenway, so the friendly gentleman at the front desk was kind enough to give us walking directions after he showed us around the guest spaces and our room. Location: 5 : an easy 10 minute walk to Fenway, a 12 minute walk to the Commons. A wealth of eating options, safe secure and walkable in every direction. Room: 5 Our room was impeccable with impressive personal touches and attention to detail. Little things like Fiji water, fresh soft towels (and a black towel for makeup), full array of toiletries, and a welcoming comfortable firm bed. Despite having alllll the things to do in Boston, I was excited to get back to that room and that bed, and I slept like a log. I like a good bed when I'm traveling and I would never stay at another place if I had the option. My favorite aspect was having a separate bedroom and living area (with pull out couch). All things comparable, I've stayed in a thousand hotels, I've traveled Boston thoroughly. This will be my go-to forever. Whether traveling single, as a couple, or with my kids, I will look at 284 first and foremost. Kid-friendly: yes! I would definitely stay here with my kids (ages 9, 11, 13). Safe, fun, welcoming, and wallet-friendly. Special bonus and wow impression: each room is themed after a different artist. I love love love this concept and intrigued me a thousand times over. I ave a personal goal to stay in every room now.

It is close to Fenway Park and we were able to walk there and back. This would be a good location if that was your destination. Parking is $70 extra per night which I find excessive but maybe that's the going rate in Boston. We had a king room on the 7th floor. There's a kitchenette equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, cooktop and a nice area to eat. It had a sofa and a small flat screen tv that you can adjust on a mount. The layout was good for our needs. The issue was housekeeping. At first glance there were some crumbs in the kitchen and a few hairs in the tub , and dirty kitchen items. Later we discovered dirty sheets. We requested our entire bedding be changed the next morning and the rest of the room be serviced as well. We came back to the room and the bed was changed but none of the room was cleaned so we headed back down again to request cleaning. We were told it would be cleaned the next day. The staff were apologetic and we didn't have any issues with them. Breakfast is served downstairs and the gentleman was overseeing the area for cleanliness and refills. He did a great job. Breakfast was basic but good. We are quite disappointed with the lack of cleanliness so for that reason we won't stay here again.

We booked 12 nights because his surgeon told us he could be hospitalized up to 10 days but we knew he could be discharged early. During check-in, I asked Mo if my son was discharged early if there would be any issues and he assured me that if we told them as soon as we knew that there wouldn't be any issues. I gave the manager on shift almost 2 days notice that we were going to be checking out early. The morning we checked out the front desk attendant told me we would be charged an early check-out fee because we didn't give them 24 hours notice. After I told her I spoke with the manager 2 days prior she told me she would have to "talk with the team" before doing anything and we would get our bill via email. The next morning I received our bill and they charged us for the night after we checked out. I called the hotel and left 4 messages with the accounting manager (I never received a call back) and tried for 9 days straight (to include filing multiple claims with Marriott Corporate) and they refused to refund me for the extra night and valet for the night. Their justification was that my car was parked in their garage that night (they must have a way to manipulate the valet time stamp) so they could not refund me for the night because that means we were at the hotel. I emailed both the manager and Marriott corporate my EZPass receipts (to prove we had left Boston the day we checked out) and they have yet to resolve this case. It has been well over 2 weeks and we have never received a phone call or email response from them. Save yourself a terrible customer service experience and choose another hotel! I would've never expected this from a Marriott.

The environment was beautifully decorated for Christmas, like last year, and I had to take some pictures to have as desktop wallpaper on my computer. We had a very nice time and the selections on the menu were impressive. I went with the carrot cake chai black tea, mainly because it had pumpkin pie kinds of spices and vanilla rooibos. It tasted wonderful, like an autumnal tea, and all our teas came in beautifully decorated tea pots, apparently from Australia. The Four Seasons also does this interesting thing where they give you a liquor that fits with your tea order, to be added if you wish or drank by itself. I had a sip of mine and from someone else's, a bit strong for me but a bailey's one was alright. I'm fine with just tea myself! As for the food, this year's high tea was one of the best I've had. The menu was different from last year's, which was great too but in my opinion this seemed like an upgrade. Some of the food items included pieces of salmon in a little pastry, mini lobster roll, peking duck crepe, curried chicken croissant, a beautiful deviled egg, vanilla bean and brown butter scones, an eggnog tart, and a Santa hat shaped raspberry pastry. We even got some alternate options for a lactose sensitive person, so that's a great plus as well. The atmosphere was elegant and calming, and the service was great.
