I am a rec league soccer coach in Centerville and have been coaching rec at Kingdom for 3 years…read more There are some "would like to be better" things at kingdom, but they are getting better. The online scheduling only goes out a few weeks, but they have added an automated reminder email that ensures all that have registered, the times of games the day before and the day of. Some folks have to look in spam folder to find them, but the work for me. As to the select vs rec issue described by another reviewer, Kingdom has always been honest about the combination of select and rec. I have coached rec for 6 years. How I pick my team is to ask my previous players I have taught and coached to play indoor with me. That doesn't make them select, they are just good and have learned skills. They all register individually and simply request to be on the same team with me and the assistant coach. We often hold our own or win against select teams. We practice every week to get better at indoor skills. Not all rec teams do this. In fact Kingdom recognized this and starting last year, provide professional coaching sessions by age group weekly. Our team chooses to practice together vice the professional, to work on each individuals skills vice a group setting. There is no tournament, there is no "winning" a session or indoor year. For us it is about skill building for next outdoor year, similar to club ball for volley ball, skills, skills skills. If we win it is better, but not the goal. I ask the girls each game what they did well and what they need to work on. If those skills get better next game, that is the objective. It just so happens when they get the right skills together, they win. There are definitely large differences in the skills of the rec teams. My team learns from each game different lessons that we work on the following practice. As for referees, what do you expect for $16 a game? Do they miss calls, yes. Do they keep it safe, yes. Am I frustrated when games aren't called consistently, yes. But back to above, overcoming adversity and not loosing your cool is a skill. Last comment about select vs. rec. One of the biggest advantages I have in the rec team are the parents and kids WANT to be there. Not all rec is that way. It feels in my outdoor rec teams, many of the kids are there because their parents want them there. So my team looks, acts and wins like a select team, but they are rec players, of the right age, that want to try hard, learn skills and happen to win more often than not. Debbie the scheduler/everything else, bends over backwards to make the sessions go well. She deserves a hearty thank you for her work to give the kids an opportunity to play indoor at a reasonable price in a good facility.

Just going to start off by saying my experience there was very disappointing. Their winter…read morebasketball league which is sold off as high rec to low competition is far from that. I signed my son up for a kingdom team thinking this would be a good experience. It ended up far from it. To start off with I signed my son up for a fourth grade team and when the roster was put out he was placed onto a fifth/ sixth grade team. Being that it was supposed to be a rec type league I didn't put up a fuss about it. But when the schedule came out all the other teams in the league were select traveling teams. Our team had ten children assigned to it when the roster came out and dropped to five before the season started, actually went to five before practice even started. Speaking of which, the roster was put out on a Thursday with the season starting that Sunday. Also they were sending messages out the same day begging for parents to coach the team. They also do not guarantee practice time for teams that they are sponsoring. We did however manage to get a one and a half hour slot for practice per week. When I contacted them about my son and his friend the same age being placed up from their grade level I was told they didn't have enough of their age to make a team. However I found out they did have a fourth grade team but it had been filled with second and third graders. When the season started one of the parents approached them to ask if they thought it was fair to put these boys against select traveling teams their response was " there aren't any select teams in the league, they are all just teams whose parents put their kids together to make teams keep in mind the teams were named stating they were select teams. It just seems like they are only worried about getting the money and not worried about the mental well being of the children they sign up. When a team gets beat by 50 plus every game it is hard on them and kingdom doesn't seem to care after the check clears if I could give a zero star I would but seems I am forced to at least give it one
