This is a beautiful little park with a lot of areas to explore. When you pull into the main parking…read morelot, you find yourself in a busy area featuring a large red barn, a playground, and an open air shelter. If you head to the left, you can cross a little bridge over a creek that takes you into a very nice natural play area, which includes a slide, a ring of boulders to climb and jump from, the aforementioned creek that you can enjoy some creeking in, and a little wooded area with a mini dirt trail. The playground and open air shelter were packed when we visited, but the natural play area was completely empty. We enjoyed the opportunity to fully explore and try out each of the activities. If you continue along the paved trail up the hill, you can take it to the left to visit a small prairie and head up a connector to a greenway trail, or you can take a right and loop through Gantz Park. As you loop around, you'll find a lovely gazebo surrounded by beautiful flowers, and then another bridge that takes you into the gardens area (which is located to the right of the parking lot when you are facing the playground and red barn, so you could also just go straight there if that's your interest). The gardens are very fun, such as a rain garden, a community-type garden, native plants, herb garden, knot garden, and the like. In addition to the beautiful plants, there is a lot of wonderful art and sculptures throughout, and a very nice labyrinth to walk and get some nice meditation in. It was very relaxing despite its proximity to the noisy parking lot and playground. Well worth a visit whether you're getting out with the kids or looking to enjoy the gardens!

It was really neat to see and the kids had fun exploring. Its nice to see older buildings being taken care of. The kids loved finding out the history of them and reading the sign on the Orders family home. It would also be a great spot for pictures!

It has its own parking lot and a paved path great for walking or running. We even saw a couple kids on their bikes. I visited in June 2025 on a free weekday afternoon and enjoyed seeing the dogs, construction of a set for the Shakespeare in the Park, and the inspirational signs near the Schiller monument. Schiller Park has a fascinating history (described near the center of the park) from its initial opening as "City Park" to its renaming as Schiller Park. It was interesting to learn that the name temporarily changed to Washington Park in the mid-1910s as anti-German sentiment rose in the United States due to World War 1. Also, the park has been an important and historic place for the German American community in Columbus, OH. For example, I learned that German singing societies (which exist in other U.S. cities) provided support for the park.

I hear that the splash park in Dublin is really crowded, this would be a great alternative. There is also a nice looking playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a shelter house with picnic tables. The only unsightly thing about the park were the racist comments spray painted on the rec center there. But as we were leaving, some men from the city were there to clean it up. This place holds some good memories for me as my grandma used to bring me there when I was a kid. We'd find a table and have ourselves a picnic lunch of Kentucky Fried Chicken. It was and still is a nice place for a picnic, a walk or to simply relax. It's still the same 46 acres of greenery, tall trees, paved walking pathways, along with a cement pond, shelter house and more. It's clean and attractive and it's held up well in it's 90 years. They even picked up that old chicken drumstick I dropped on the ground years ago. I know it's on the west side of Columbus but don't think that I've lost my marbles when I tell you to go there and check this place out. Don't be afraid of the area. The west side is a little shabby these days but it's not unsafe. The Westgate neighborhood though is nice, very nice actually and it shares that same middle class bourgeois lifestyle that Grandview and Clintonville have and this park reflects that. So feel free to take your KFC, bento boxes or maybe some organic chicken wraps and have yourself a picnic there. Like everyone else, I like this place so I'll give Westgate Park 4 stars.

In the last two-decades I've spent so many days walking, drinking, eating, plotting plans to take…read moreover the world, and exploring in the German Village that there is no way in tarnation that a park is there that I have never visited. No way! Right? Wrong! I never knew this small square of pleasuring landscaping was here. And you know what? It is pound for pound the most striking inner-city park in Columbus I have seen yet. It is only a quarter-block in size. Walking passed you'd think it was just another eye catching backyards of the Village. But it is a city park. An art park meant for resting and enjoying its lushes crafty composition. Surrounded by a black iron fence, the inside has flowing ferns, a knee-high blue fountain, red brick flooring, trellis patio with tables, black resting benches, Japanese trees, topiaries, hanging baskets off black, Victorian street lights, green grass and yellow marigolds. A impressive display of horticulture and landscaping done by volunteers are to credit. There is even a water fountain for thirsty park goers. Dogs are welcomed here as I seen neighborhood pups led by masters on my visits. I think this place may be cool at night too, it has a romantic allure, a place for memories, proposals, or film making. Who knows why I never found it before, but since I have, it will be a prime stop when I am in the neighborhood.

It is maintained in conjunction with the German Village Garten Club, which really shows in the lovely landscaping. There is a pergola, potted plants, and a lot of nice touches like a sundial. Several benches and picnic tables are available in the park. During our recent visit, it still looked decked out for the holiday season - a lot of the plants had some nice ornaments and decorations. It is very walkable if you're in the area, or there is street parking available.
