Sat down and the waitress took our drink order. We ordered appetizers and then she came back to order our food. I had to ask the special she wasn't going to provide them. Had the salmon and it was dry. The sea bass was also ordered at our table and it was bland. Another steak was ordered with potatoes and asparagus and the potatoes were cold and the steak was barely over room temperature. It wasn't busy so there's no real reason it should have been cold. As restaurants go this place is alright. A bit presumptuously upscale. What is here is basic vanilla fare, common to most restaurants and comes with few surprises. Very little creativity in the kitchen. The atmosphere is a bit echoing, like a bus depot with all the hard surfaces. This place takes going to court to a fun and delicious level. It is situated directly across from the grand and beautiful Manitowoc Courthouse. We sat at a window booth on the pub side. The other dining areas are more formal. We dined when court was "out of session." The menu was interesting and had many gluten free options. Everything seemed to be from scratch. We had the sundried tomato artichoke dip with chips. It was above average. We had their 10 year anniversarry chicken sandwich and a cheeseburger. Both were great and on challah rolls. We also used their Yelp $20 for $30 and a check-in free microbrew. I will definitely be going back to try their dinner menu. Their seafood and steaks sounded delicious. This is the best restaurant in Manitowoc. Every time I come, service is outstanding. John, the owner, is always around and making guests feel at home. On a recent visit, John and staff went above and beyond for my family, including getting 19 of us in for dinner together, complete with personalized menus. I eat here just about time I travel to Manitowoc to visit family. It's a good place for fish and they also know a thing or two about meat. On the most recent visit, I had their cioppino, which is an Italian seafood stew. It was outstanding. I've also had duck and pork at the Courthouse Pub on other visits. It was all great. As far as appetizers go, you cannot go wrong with the fried cheese curds, artichoke hearts or poutine. Their beer is good, and their bartenders know how to make great classic cocktails. Anytime I'm in Manitowoc, I make sure that I stop by the Courthouse at least once as it is my favorite place in town. What I especially like about this place is the openness of the restaurant, the friendliness of the staff, and the casual-yet-classy feel without the slightest hint of pretentiousness. My fiancée and I checked out the website prior to visiting and were excited to read that they have a sized-right section in their menu, which emphasizes a healthy portion size. So instead of that huge 12-inch slab of meat, you'll get around 4-6oz size (which is what we should all be eating). I selected the salmon filet while she had the brie chicken. We both loved our dishes. My salmon was perfectly cooked with a nice sear, and topped with dill sauce and capers. The accompanying wild rice was also very good. She absolutely loved the brie chicken, if I remember correctly there was some sort of raspberry glaze that complimented the dish. Her dish also came with wild rice and the vegetable of the day. The service was nice, our server had a very thick UP-Michigan/northern WI accent which we found to be charming. She kept out water levels nice and wasn't overly intrusive. Was a bit disappointed after all the 4 and 5 star reviews. Steak was decent, not great. Same for Caesar Salad. Cheese sampler pretty good but served ice cold, not the proper way to serve cheeses. Microbrews pretty bland. No IPA. Lagers and stout on the fizzy sweet side. Service was good and the owner is a congenial host. Their 'sized right' option is a great concept for those with smaller appetites or watching their weight. Wish more places would try this. We went there for drinks and apps on a Saturday night very close to closing and we got excellent food and friendly service. We were surprised that the bar was not busier on a Saturday night and think they should promote their bar more heavily to catch the out and about crowd. The atmosphere and decor were very welcoming. We had the cheese curds, which you can't get away from in Wisconsin, but they serve them with a raspberry balsamic dipping sauce that is to die for. We also had the fried artichoke hearts and you know you can't go wrong with anything that's fried. My husband also had the mussels and he was swooning over them the whole way through and then even though he was stuffed, he sopped up the sauce with a roll when he finished the mussels. Wow, am I glad I came here. The special was a pan-seared steak, served with a wild mushroom and cherry demi glaze. Perfectly cooked, and so flavorful. My waiter, Eric, was fabulous recommending favorite beers that were excellent. Eric was perfectly attentive, without being intrusive. Great guy! Love it here! Great food and unique specials to choose from. Drinks selection is perfect. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and fun (most of them). The food is always very fresh and delicious. Some items are a bit pricey but there are also many items that are very reasonably priced to choose from. The atmosphere is very nice and typically quiet. Try the cheese curds with raspberry balsamic sauce! We visited on our way from Green Bay to Chicago on a Friday night and had a great experience. We originally wanted to go to the Redwood Inn for Friday fish fry (also delicious), but didn't have time for the wait. We ended up at the Courthouse Pub and were surprised there wasn't a wait at all. I had the fish and chips, which was delicious. I especially liked the coleslaw. It's not fresh lake fish, but let's be honest, it isn't at a lot of the fish fry restaurants. Pretty much the nicest restaurant in Manitowoc proper*, Courthouse holds a special spot in my heart for introducing me to a grand staple of Wisconsin cuisine - fried cheese curds. Oh, did I eat so many fried cheese curds when I was here! Theirs comes with a sweet raspberry dipping sauce, which was heavenly and made me wish that fried cheese curds were as ubiquitous everywhere else as they are in Wisconsin. As an added bonus, this restaurant is right across the street from the actual Manitowoc courthouse (if not obvious enough from the name) and has a few cameos in Making a Murderer. *Everything is relative and so is my four-star rating here. read more

The food here was absolutely delicious. Their coconut shrimp - well. Wow. I rarely, if ever, like shell fish - but this I liked. The seasoning was just right to compliment the shrimp. Backtracking a little, my husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner, with our baby daughter. The staff imidiatly were very helpful, bringing out a car seat stand for our daughter and were very polite while we took our time choosing our food. So much of their menu sounded mouthwatering wonderful. We both had hot tea, as well, which was served in very clever little push down pots. Overall we had an excellent time. My husband and I stopped for lunch on a Tuesday while on our way from Milwaukee to Green Bay. The reviews were good and they had a $30 for $20 Yelp deal. The service was very quick. We each had a bowl if soup. He had the chicken wild rice and I had the chicken chili. The chili was very mild but fresh. The wild rice was creamy and delish. He had a pub burger with cheddar and bacon, which came with fries. The bun was not just a regular bun, but a golden brown, very tasty toasty roll. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft and potato-ey on the inside. I has the craisin, bleu cheese and chicken salad. The lettuce was fresh and crisp and it had just the right amount of vinaigrette - not drowning. And the freshly baked roll that came it was to die for! Ok, so I have to do an update on the Courthouse Pub, after having an actual meal here. We had reservations this time, and were seated promptly. I got the raspberry gnocci, and my husband had a cheeseburger. The pasta was good - I wouldn't say "great," but it was a little cold and bland. My husband's cheeseburger was kind of underwhelming, I wouldn't say it's worth the money we paid for it. Our server was kind of odd, and made a few off the cuff / random comments to us, that I didn't think were totally appropriate. It was a little odd. They still serve the beers they brew - which were good. It's not that it was bad, or that good either way. It was really just kind of "eh." I really don't think we'll eat here again. Our favorite restaurant since we left Oregon...love this place!! I had the cinnamon pork, my husband had the chicken marsala and my son had the burbon bacon cheeseburger all were awesome. Our waiter's name was Joe and he was very helpful as we asked several questions about the area. The atmosphere is great. I got French onion soup and the cinnamon encrusted pork loin. The pork loin came with an apple compote, fresh green beans, and mashed potatoes. The soup was okay. The bread in the soup was soggy and I was sad to see that I was charged an extra dollar for the soggy bread and cheese. ( I've never been uncharged for the basic ingredients of a soup.) The pork loin was moist, but burned on the outside. the apple compote was yummy and sweet. The potatoes tasted off and after a bite, I didn't explore it further. Great choice when looking for a high quality, dining experience. The Courthouse Pub is one of our favorites places for special celebrations. It is a bit more upper class than some other restaurants, so be prepared ahead of time. My husband and I, both have more of a gothic/edgy look, but were never treated unkind, or made to feel uncomfortable. We actually had our wedding reception/dinner there, because we love it so much. The wait staff and the owner are so friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I do however recommend dressing a bit nicer when you go, as it is mainly professionals, and people in business attire eating there. This might bother some people, but we think it's nice to have a place that we can get dressed up and go to for a date night. Everything we have tried on the menu has been amazing. The lunch prices are pretty affordable and they have a great half sandwich and soup option. Dinner prices are bit higher end, but you get what you pay for, and the food is incredible. A delicious and delightful find. We walked to the Courthouse from our sailboat in the harbor on a warm drizzly summer evening, after reading Yelp for a recommendation. This is a don't miss restaurant if you are cruising the lake, by boat or car. Big, open, old fashioned environment, with a terrific menu, seafood or meat, it's great. The beer is fresh, and a huge wine list for this small a town. The waitstaff is attendant, without being intrusive. Came to the Courthouse Pub last Wednesday evening with a large group of people. We were not allowed to order off the menu so we were given 4 choices. I ordered the chicken dinner and when it came to the table I couldn't believe how small the piece of chicken was. They claimed it was a chicken leg but it had to be the smallest chicken or baby chick.
