Yesterday Courtesy Cuts Tree Service was on our property for the bulk of the day. They showed up on time for the 8am start and worked the full day. They removed 3 oak trees, one of which was massive and unhealthy and the other 2 were close and leaning over the house. This was a concern of ours for future hurricanes. They also cleaned up and lifted 9 other oaks. What a difference that made. They trimmed 5 tall palms which look dramatically better now. They lifted a very large Camphor tree in the front of our house which really improves the view and shaped and trimmed our Ligustrum and our Crepe Myrtle trees. They spent a significant amount of time cleaning up before they left. Their terms were payment upon completion and approval and we paid before they left. My wife and I are very pleased with the outcome. We found good value for what we paid. Soliciting in a non-solicitation neighborhood! Even if they did work for a neighbor the rules and common courtesy does not permit it. To make matters worse, their crew stuck their business card behind my mailbox house number plaque and broke a piece of wood off. When I called the owner to address what had happened he got defensive and rude rather than opening with an apology. He then offered to come fix it, but based on other reviews, I'm glad I did not decide to take him up on it. Owners only retort was that I was treating him like he was a "crack dealer". Strange statement to make which immediately left me cautious instead of calmed. I had one of the most terrifying experiences I've had as a new mother, and if this was truly your sales tactic, it needs to stop immediately. I was leaving my house with my newborn daughter to go for a walk. I hadn't even made it to the next house when I noticed a man staring at us driving a red SUV extremely slowly. The vehicle was completely unmarked, no company logo, no signage, nothing. The SUV pulled over on the side of the road, and a woman got out and started walking directly toward me. As a woman alone with my baby, my immediate thought was that something was very wrong. She said she was from Courtesy Cuts and wanted to know if I wanted my trees cut. What that tells me is that your employees watched me leave my house with my newborn, followed me down the street in an unmarked vehicle, stopped, and approached me while I was alone with my child. That is not marketing. That is terrifying. It takes everything for some postpartum women to leave the house with their baby. Experiences like this are exactly why so many new mothers are afraid to leave their homes. If Courtesy Cuts employs door-to-door salespeople, they need to be in clearly marked company vehicles, identify themselves immediately, and use common sense. Do not follow women who have just left their homes with infants. Do not pull over and approach them from an unmarked vehicle. There is no reasonable person who would interpret that as safe. When our neighbor hired this company their crew completely blocked our clearly marked driveway with their truck and trailer. Even worse, the work they were doing was on an adjacent street, so when my elderly mother went to leave to her appointment she was blocked in with no crew members to flag down in the immediate area. It is illegal to block a driveway, let alone a huge safety hazard. If I would have been aware of the situation at the time I would have called the nonemergency number for them to handle. I would never trust this company with as something as big as tree work if they can't even properly park on the side of the street. The whole street was open but they chose to block a driveway. Their work appeared well-executed even before the owner made their appearance. Communication Issues from Day One: -During our quote agreement the day prior, the supervisor advised they would arrive around 9:00-9:30 AM the next day and agreed to call when heading my way. They didn't arrive until 12:15-12:30 PM with no advance notification or courtesy call to tell me they were running late. This should have been my first red flag about their communication practices. Core Issues: -My problems stem from incomplete work that didn't match the written quote. I hired them to service six trees, with the issue stemming from an oak tree with two widow makers. When discussing the work on this tree the day prior, the scope was described verbally as removing the widow makers, cleaning up the under canopy and interior so that if a storm comes through the wind will blow less restrictively through the tree so I don't have a widow maker situation again. The quote was written "Oak in back yard lift & lite interior cleanout." What was completed: -Two widow makers removed (satisfactory) -Minimal "lift" work: one lower canopy branch removed (cutting one 1.5"-2" diameter branch, leaving 6 feet remaining on tree) What was missing: -No interior cleanout beyond the widow makers -No trimming of downward-growing branches outside pole saw reach (lower limbs on this tree are already high) -When I asked about the interior work, the supervisor stated it wasn't included in the agreed price. -***I would like to note that the company approached me for the work, going door to door in my neighborhood. I did not negotiate a lower price when those discussions took place. The price was presented to me following a walkthrough of the property and verbal description of the scope of work. A quote was written, it summarily touched on the items we discussed, and I accepted as it was offered. The Problem Escalated: -Here's where I made my mistake: I paid upon request during cleanup, before verifying 100 % completion. When I later questioned the work scope against the quote, the supervisor said he'd "be right there" but drove away instead. I called him and he promised to call back in five minutes at 2:15 PM - there was no returned call. Lessons Learned: -Demand detailed, written quotes that explicitly define all terms and deliverables. Don't accept shorthand or verbal explanations. Never pay until work is 100% complete. Walk the property with the supervisor and address any concerns before payment. Final Assessment: -While the crew performed quality work on what they did complete, the business practices are concerning. When I simply asked for clarification about the quote, both the supervisor and owner left the property and ignored my follow-up. This isn't about demanding extra work--it's about getting an explanation for what was promised versus delivered. -I'm a reasonable customer who doesn't enjoy confrontation, but being dismissed and ignored when raising legitimate concerns is unacceptable. Horrible service! they canceled and no-showed multiple times. When they finally came out, they left a huge mess. they promised to clean up the dirt. They have not even after several texts. they also trimmed trees for two of my neighbors. they left a huge pile on the side walk and added their garbage to it (soda cans, etc). in one location, cars had to drive around the debries. They cleared one pile, but not the other. It's been over a week! read more

The company cut down some trees in 2 of my neighbors yards and had several limbs and a large tree branch fall in my yard and I spoke with them about cleaning that up. I called them 3 days in a row and they said they would come out and never did. They lied to me each day. Have lived with 2 live oaks and a water oak for over 30 years. Had to take down HUGE live oak with rot at base near the house. Negotiated with CCTS and got a reasonable price to take it down. Operation was impressive! Huge crane used to take out large portions of the tree at a time. Crew were efficient and professional. Entire tree down in a few hours and debris stacked for pickup by grappler truck. Debris was removed, stump ground and everything cleaned up by next day. My experience with CCTS was excellent. Received an estimate for trimming my storm damaged and unkept tree on Tuesday. The price was very reasonable, and they said they could start at 8:30 on Wednesday morning. I unlocked my gate at 8:20 and at 8:30 I looked out the window and the crew were carrying in their equipment. They trimmed 5 large pine trees and one oak tree in my back yard and a palm tree, a maple tree and a magnolia tree in the front. All my tree looked great when they finished. They picked up and hauled away all the limbs and cleaned my yard, front and back. My lawn was cleaner when they left than when they arrived. hired the company to trim trees over house after moving in a few months ago., after comming home that evening, noticed branches all over yard where they worked, 3rd tree was not correctly as promised., They came around the end of week to get check and showed him the problems., he assured me that his crew would be out to fix problems. week later i texted him again, he then assured me that friday wk later crew would be out after 3pm to finish. no show, no calls. i texted him again and asked where is the crew? no response. as i write this still no response. we live in a 55+ community and afterwards several neighbors asked whom did the work and phone number., i advised several not to bother and showed them the work. i would never use them again nor would i recomend there services. read more
