I thought due to the work these guys had to have been doing from the storms aftermath it would take a while for some one to come by, but no sooner did I text Sam he text me back and was there that afternoon to see what needed to be done. First off a big thanks to Sam and his team for doing a terrific job and cleaning up so thoroughly when they were through. They arrived at 9am and got right to work, removing quite a few trees that were mis-planted right next to house and some dead ones along with tree trimming. Sam and Competitive Tree Service showed up promptly. Sam and crew removed three difficultly located trees. The biggest tree was in the front of the house and also very close to the house. Sam and his team made short work of it with the help of their bucket truck. The second tree was the smaller of the three but was the most difficult given its location. The smaller tree was close to utility lines, the AC, my house and the neighbors property. Sam had a tiny area to work in and no way to get large equipment in. Even with those challenges he was able to remove the tree without any issues, very impressive. The last tree was growing against a block wall fence and was directly under the high voltage power lines. This tree was only slightly more accessible than the smaller tree but considerably larger. At the end of the effort all trees were proficiently removed with no damage to property and without incident. The team did a good job cleaning up. Sam and his team were very professional and worked well together. They arrived promptly and completed a great deal of work requiring significant experience in about three hours. A guy at my work asked me to post a review for Competitive. To be thorough, I did see the offending tree both before and after the job, as well as a couple videos on his phone. It was not my tree, so if that means I don't have enough first-hand experience, then whoops. However I've listened to him talk about this company quite a bit now. What's more, I'm going to go with Competitive next time I'm hacking away at one of my little nasties. What follows is just a paste from an email. The owner Sam provided proof of his insurance which was the number one thing for me since I can see a lot of ways the tree could cause damage. Sam and crew had better insurance and workman's comp. The other company carried no workman's comp insurance and offered to have their workers sign some kind of indemnity form that they wouldn't sue if they got injured on my property. Seemed a little shifty to me. Sorry, I don't want to have to consult a lawyer just to get my damn trees trimmed. They came out and were fast and efficient. Competitive Tree Service was one of three tree removal businesses I contacted based on positive reviews. Each came out on the same day and gave me job estimates on removing a huge diseased camphor tree in my backyard. Without knowing what the other estimates were Sam was $400 less for the same work. He came out a week later with a crew of 4 and safely removed the tree within about 3 hours. Spending money on an unplanned tree removal was not pleasant but Sam was very fair with his price and his crew did a great job. I would call him again if necessary. Earlier this week we had Competitive Tree Services tackle the monumental job of serious tree trimming and tree removal. Our rear yard was completely overgrown with trees and vines, all planted without our permission by local squirrels and birds. A machete was virtually needed to merely access this yard. Sam and his crew managed beautifully and we are more than pleased with the results. We actually have exterior access to our back yard now. Our front yard had two very overgrown oak trees which badly needed trimming and pruning as they were compromising our roof. When you see one of Sam's men climb to the top of a monstrous oak you'll be very comforted by the fact that he carries full insurance and workman's comp on his men. A neighbor's tree branches were also overhanging our roof and rubbing against the shingles and fascia. All this was taken care of in a most professional manner, with care and precision. When the tree removal and trimming was completed, the fellows cleared the entire yard, driveway and sidewalks of all debris.
