The vibe... clean and welcoming.

My quest for the best espresso tonic in DTLA brought me to Couplet Coffee, where I found the staff to be SUPER friendly and welcoming but... ...unfortunately, it was THE WORST version of the drink I've ever had. Usually, an espresso tonic comes with a slice of grapefruit to give it that citrus bite. No real citrus here, yet it still had a fake citrus taste and an overly syrupy espresso flavor, making it undrinkable, making me do the unthinkable... return coffee! They were nice enough to offer me a refund, but I literally had to wash my mouth out with water to get rid of that taste when I got home. No bueno!

I really wanted to like this place, but sadly the matcha didn't work for me at all. I ordered the Gulab, which comes with ceremonial matcha(questionable) with honey, saffron, rose, and cardamom. I also opted for oat milk. The matcha flavor was very bitter, low quality, and tasted like old grass. After a few sips, I couldn't finish it and had to toss it which was disappointing. Unfortunately the drinks don't live up to the branding or the price point. I will say the barista was friendly, and the space itself is a good size and nicely laid out which is why I'm giving it an extra star. That said if you're coming specifically for matcha, I wouldn't recommend it based on my experience.

Came to try the banana matcha. the matcha is pretty good, not too sweet, but the cinnamon was way too strong. Small shop, but nice outdoor space. Service was fairly quick too.

Whoa, I can taste the Espresso, the Madagascar Vanilla and the slight sweet taste of cherry. Was quickly greeted with a smile and a "Hello". Cashier complimented my jacket with all my pins. Nice and thank you (Aww shucks) Ordered quickly & it was made in a jiffy. Tap pay accepted. It's the standard now a days. It's a warm day in DTLA and I needed something after walking to the USPS. I wanted to support a small business & this place had me with their sandwich sign board on the sidewalk. Its different. It's cool. Love the vibe in here. Great music. Some law students are here doing some work. I'm right across the street from the LA Bar Association. So duh. It's a 1 1/2 blocks away from LA live. What's cool about the street are the addresses. I'm seeing 777, 888 all over the place. I should buy a lottery ticket. Ya never know. I could retire & travel & write reviews for a living. There, I spoke it into existence. I'll let God & the Universe take over. I'm at my happiest traveling. It's good for my Mental Health. Until the next review. See you on Yelp or Insta.

Food is ok but overpriced. We had the burritos; one of each. The veggie burrito comes with potatoes but they were dry; not very tasty. Also the burritos are very small for the $14. Price. I wouldn't recommend those. They do have other pastries and bagels. Possibly best to try those next time. Their strawberry matcha is good and the service is fine. They have tables and the ambiance is not noisy so the space allows for someone to work on a laptop.

I have been here 2 times. The second time was better than the first experience wise. First time I ordered the vanilla iced latte. My second time I ordered a pumpkin spiced latte. Both times drinks were great. But the staff was nicer and more welcoming the second time I went. Drinks are on the pricier side so it's a treat. I taste the quality.

I took my partner here for our monthly pastry date. I just heard about this place and figured we should check it out. The space itself is super cute and the staff behind the counter were very friendly. Our drinks came out quickly for mid-morning on a Thursday. I appreciate that they have seating inside as well as a few tables outside. I got the Choco Banana - it was decadent with chocolate ganache, coconut cream, banana cream, and banana chips. My partner got the Gulab espresso. The cardamom flavor was really nice. I didn't get any of the rose notes in it (which is my preference because I find rose too floral).

Staff is very welcoming. Large space and plenty of seating available. Big fan of the ice they use in the drinks. They offer baked goods, sandwiches, salads, parfaits and fruit cups. Plenty of hydration options for you to grab from the fridge. They also offer a variety of snacks near the register. Banana Bread Chai- 10/10 Well balanced and tasty. Definitely worth trying if you like chai. Iced Cafe de Olla- 10/10 Smooth not bitter. Hoping this item is here to stay. Banana Cream Matcha- 10/10 This is my go to drink at couplet. The banana cream top is highly addictive.

Pleasantly surprised! Every cup of coffee I've tried has been so good! Very great location too. Cute cafe with lots of treats - something to look forward to on my lunch break. The employees are nice too.

So I looked for a coffee spot closer to the restaurant at which I could do some work. Alibi Coffee is only 10-15 minutes from the restaurant, which made it a good candidate--and off I went. It sits on the corner of Washington and Raymond Avenue. While there's one-hour parking on Washington, Raymond seems to offer unlimited parking (other than street cleaning days)--the friendly, helpful barista directed me over there. Inside, it's a tranquil, clean and comfortable environment that mixes contemporary touches with brick industrial vibes. I'm in my cream top era, so I decided to get their Trademark Cream Top Latte, which uses cold brew and house made cream with a hint of brown sugar. The drink was smooth and not too sweet and, all in all, extremely enjoyable. Next time, I might try the Salted Caramel Cream Top Latte. I was warned it was a bit sweeter, but I'd like to see for myself. Wi-Fi seems solid, and there are plenty of outlets (yay!), so this was a great work spot. I'd definitely return anytime I needed to be in this area.

She let me know that Memorylook is known for einspanners and they have their own parking lot. When there's a parking lot on-site, say less.. I stopped by around noontime and there were people inside/outside chatting, working, taking pics in the photobooth, etc. The line went by quickly and I had my hojicha einspanner in no time! It was so tasty!! The cream top was light and not too sweet. The hojicha was smooth. I really enjoyed it, and the latte definitely helped me keep cool while driving around LA on such a hot day. Their photo booth is really cute and easy to use, but you do have to pay $10 which is not bad at all. They have their pastries facing the street entrance to the cafe (not the entrance from the parking lot). I didn't know that they had pastries on display until after I had payed for drinks and had to make line again. Can't imagine how frustrating it can be when it's a bit busy and having to make line again. I ordered a regular matcha latte with oat milk, the color was promising but once I took a sip of it I was disappointed. If you're a person that likes sweet matcha then this is for you. I personally I didn't like it just because it was sweet and grainy. I could see matcha but could not taste it. My sister got an iced vanilla latte and said it was really good! Not too sweet and not bitter either. I would have to go for an iced latte if I ever come back to visit!

I was pleased to get some Cafe Dulce nearby while I shopped at Trader Joe's and Target in the USC village. This cafe does have a top of the range Vietnamese coffee...a joyous cup that does no harm. I ordered a limited time drink they were promoting. A salted caramel latte. Now I know myself too well...that I should always stay loyal to my coffee choices and stick with the minimum sugar intake. The coffee was good but I wasn't thriving with the amount of sugar it had. I will continue to stick with the Vietnamese choice or a sugar free vanilla latte with almond milk. Those are always on my inviting side for Cafe Dulce. Their Little Tokyo location is also a great visit experience. They have some tasty breakfast burritos there. Other than that, a great cafe to check out with plenty of college students here minding their business.

He continued, in a dismissive tone, speaking to me in a way that felt unnecessarily disrespectful. I chose to walk away and still enjoy my pour-over. But it's not just about serving good coffee.
