Extremely Disappointing Dining Experience - Never Again!…read more My wife and I decided to dine at Half Shell and unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, and from the very first bite, the taste was so horrible that I nearly threw up. My wife initially told me not to overreact, so I encouraged her to try hers. Well, one bite was all it took for her to completely understand my reaction! The oysters tasted as though they had been sitting under a warmer for an extended period. They were absolutely detestable. Our waitress graciously removed them. At that point, I was seriously considering getting up and leaving. However, we decided to give the restaurant another opportunity to redeem itself with our entrées. Unfortunately, things only got worse. We both ordered the seafood pasta, hoping for a much better experience. To our disbelief, the first bite was another disappointment. I simply could not continue eating it, and my wife felt exactly the same way. Once again, our waitress apologized and took the food away. By this point, I was beyond frustrated. I told the waitress, "You know what? Just bring us the Uptowner Quesadillas, and we'll call it a night." In my mind, I was thinking, Surely they can't mess up quesadillas! Thankfully, the quesadillas turned out okay, but by then, the entire dining experience had already been ruined. What makes this especially disappointing is that I am not someone who typically complains about restaurant food. My wife and I enjoy dining out, and we understand that every restaurant can have an off night. But to have two completely different dishes served that were so unpleasant neither of us could eat them is simply unacceptable. The one positive was our waitress, who was apologetic and handled the situation professionally. Unfortunately, good service cannot make up for food that is this disappointing. We gave Half Shell multiple opportunities to get it right, but they failed to deliver. Needless to say, we will NEVER be returning.

Our server Cameron was very attentive and anticipated all of our needs. During our visit the Owner greeted us and thanked us for dining in. He then told us the different events he has nightly and that we can see the future lineup on their IG page. He was even accommodating by allowing me to sub out my side for another. Before he retired for the night, he brought us some complimentary shots that they give out during the bingo game. ::we took advantage of their Happy Hour Menu (5-7):: -fried green tomatoes with added crawfish sauce -fried egg rolls -House Cabernet (bogo and $3 off) ::For Dinner:: My Partner and I ordered the Social 21 Plate. We both chose the fried catfish option (I wanted mine fried hard sub grits. My server said they couldn't sub out my side. That is when my Partner saw the owner and explained the situation at hand. He obliged my simple request. -Social 21 Plate, fried catfish over rice (mine over grits)and topped with crawfish sauce with broccoli and grilled shrimp. We ended up staying to see what Drunk Bingo was all about. The restaurant quickly filled up during the 7 o'clock hour. We were given our bingo cards at 7:30 and the event didn't start until 8pm. The first set of cards were complimentary and any additional were $1 each. During this event there was a live DJ. He was very engaging and played a lot of great old school R&B jams and blues songs. My Partner won the first round of bingo. We stayed during the entire event which lasted an hour. Shots were given to everyone (their house juice.) We took advantage of their Bingo Wing Special ($1 a wing.) -10 lemon pepper wings (wasn't enough seasoning for my liking) So overall the * food is a 10/10 *service 10/10 *ambiance 5/10

We ordered the Akropolis Platter. It contained 2 shrimp, 2 oysters, an overcooked and badly seasoned piece of redfish with sour crabmeat on top. The rolls were cold. The oysters were delicious but tiny and 22.00 for 6. The gumbo wasn't anything to write home about. We also ordered the Captains Platter and were disappointed in that as well. The soft shell crab was inedible. The only thing food related that I can say was perfect were the onion rings.
