We have used this company for three years now to get to the airport in Albany, N. Y., no more…read more Michelle picks us up in the same falling apart minivan and to our surprise has her two kids in the car, one in the front and another in the back. Michelle says they always come with me, never before did they come with us, she is a liar. I told her not sure this is professional or even legal. We argued but since we are in a rural area hard to make other arrangements on the fly. Not sure of the kids ages or weight as to car seats and the front seat. Trust me and my wife to never use them again. Totally unprofessional and arguing does little good. We are three and seating is tight when you are picked up with the vehicle already half full. Like last last year, she cannot open the broken rear luggage door, so she had to squeeze stuff over the rear two rows of seating. Good we travel light and did not bring more luggage or suitcases. Michelle said I should have told her it was three of us, really, I thought I hired a total vehicle not just part of it. I hope she is not expecting a tip. Thankfully, Pronto isn't exploiting this seeming monopoly, they've just got nice local dudes that'll pick you up and take you where you need to go for a decent price. I was surprised that the first time I got a driver from Pronto, he actually knew the random backwoods street my parents live on (I guess he used to take ATVs back there), and we chatted about hunting and the like. I didn't catch his name. The second dude was Danny, and he was the man. He told me all about the best Polish deli in Brooklyn to get kielbasy, where to get your Polish fix in the Valley, and was just an all around great guy. So give Pronto a call if you need a ride in the area, and go to Nassau Meat Market in Greenpoint to get the real deal kielbasy, Danny and his family have been going there for decades, and he swears by it.

Useless and unreliable…read more   My husband and I needed to get home from the hospital following a car accident where our car was totalled.   It was 11:10 on a Friday night - a time when most taxi companies are operating at full swing.   I called Riverview to get a ride.   After ringing for quite a while, an angry, groggy man finally answered the phone, annoyed that I "called so late". He said he can't help me, and hung up.  So I called a different number, and the same man answered, now even more irate than before, demanding to know why I called back!   I explained that I had just dialed a totally different number and had no way of knowing that I was calling the same company under a different phone number.   Needless to say, Riverview taxi - mere blocks from the hospital - couldn't (or wouldn't) accommodate us in an emergency situation, and their nasty attitude just added to insult to injury -  literally.
