Very strange place and the only restaurant in town for miles. We were staying in Ashfield, MA for a few nights for a nearby event and wanted to get dinner. Apparently, all the other restaurants in this town are no longer in business so it's Countrypie or the convenience store/gas station called Neighbors. The only other options would require a 25 minute drive each way and since we could walk to Countrypie it was a no brainer. The restaurant shares a beat up old building with a hardware store. The building used to be a post office back in the day. If it weren't for the Yelp reviews we probably wouldn't have even walked in based on the looks from the outside. Inside is rustic country looking with a few tables for dining in although it appears most orders seemed to be for take-out based on the continuous line of people picking up orders while we were there. They do offer free Narcan kits and Fentanyl test strips on the counter to take for free should you need them. There's a menu above the counter with lots of options including salads and sandwiches. We decided to order a few items but were told that they are only serving pizza today. I asked which pie they recommend and was told the vegetable special was great so I ordered it and was charged $30 and told it would take 30-40 minutes. The pie was brought to our table in 30 minutes. The toppings were fresh but the crust was not so good, nor was the tomato sauce. It reminded me of a pizza you would get at a bowling alley or a kid's party place. read more

When we moved to Western Mass from Chicago, I told my wife we couldn't start out too far in the "country." Worried my citified self couldn't take it. Then, house hunting in towns in the area we were visiting a friend in Ashfield and had pizza at Country Pie. We saw a flier tacked to the bulletin board outside advertising a rental in Ashfield and lived there for 3 years. That's how good the pizza is. read more

Oh me, oh my--love that Countrypie. Countrypie is hands down the best pizza place, by far. I have searched all over the country for a place that can beat the taste, the dough, the sauce, the cheese, the toppings, but I haven't found it. They have thin dough but thick crust, perfect amount of sauce (most places don't use enough), and great cheese + toppings. My favorites are the original Cheese and Garden Delight; they never disappoint. I haven't had their grinders in years, but I used to love them, especially the chicken with cheese, lettuce + tomato. Staff is always delightful + inventive with their pizzas, such as their potato or taco pies. I could eat Countrypie nearly every day. I will always come back here when I come visit the hilltowns! Fantastic pizza and service! We had a great take out experience here last night, we come here a few times a year and the pizza is always a hit! Yesterday I was a particularly difficult customer and had to call back eeeek... 4 times to change the order I had placed in advance (I would never do this on an ASAP order) and the staff just took it in stride and assured me they would make the corrections, and they did! As a self proclaimed pizza aficionado, due to working in a pizza place to eating pizza at least once a week so far in my 22 years of living, here's what I've to say of Countrypie..... Go. Here. You won't be disappointed. Situated on Main Street in Ashfield, the outside personality fits perfectly once you step through the front door. Cute, quaint, and a hidden gem. Personally I've been here twice, both times during the Fall Festival when the streets are PACKED full of people. Both times, Countrypie has been busy yet fast and efficient. It's great. And the pizza.....delicious!! I've yet to try anything except the cheese but I most certainly will. Some places can't even make a cheese slice well, but that's not here. Is delicious and once your first slice is done, you'll be left wanting another. They do not take cards, cash or check. They've also got plenty other foods besides pizza, which I will also be back one day to try! read more

I live down the street and am so appreciative to have such a good pizza place in our small town! There are some creative options for the more adventurous types, and they serve slices for part of the day. The cold cut grinder is good, I haven't tried the other options. Staff are very friendly and there is never a long wait. Overall a great option in our area! read more

In 2009 or so I was doing horrible door to door work and spoke to a woman working in her garden. We spoke for a bit about building her walkway and what my plans were after college and global warming. She made a donation and ran inside to get me something else. Turns out it was a gift certificate to country pie pizza for 1 large pizza. I've been addicted ever since. This place has ruined other pizza for me. There's something about it that's just right. I was worried this place didn't survive covid but I was happy to see it was still around when I came to visit western mass Dec 2021. It seem the woman's son has taken over too. read more

"Oh me, oh my, love that Country Pie." Let me tell you something. If there's ever a reason for me to move out west, Country Pie Pizza would be the reason. No, really! This has got to be one of the BEST pizza places I've ever been to. Their pizzas are like pieces of art. We had heard great things about Country Pie and so we had to seek it out when we were on our way to zipline. Granted that we got lost along the way and took us an extra 45 minutes just to find this place because literally every which way we turned, it was another sign for Route 112! But it was allllll worth it! When we walked in, we were literally in the country so the name is totally appropriate. We had just missed their apple fest by a day. And so when gawking at the pizzas, I had to try their Apple Pie pizza that Seth had created and it was such a great decision! Who would have thunk to make pizza with apples?! I then decided to have the Buffalo Chicken pizza, but this pizza was different that your typical Buff Chix Pizza, this pizza was made with red and green peppers and the blend of everything was just savory and delicious. And while we were waiting for our slices to be ready, Seth was in the middle of making BBQ chicken pizza. Now we tried some of this pizza and let me tell you... it's nothing like the BBQ pizza you would normally have in the city, whether it be NY, Boston, SF, Chicago, no. This pizza had a sweet and savory taste to it and it was like taking a little bite of heaven! And here's the best part, it was cheap cheap cheap! So if you ever get a chance to go out west for any reason, be sure to make a little pit stop and grab a few slices at Countrypie Pizza! And tell my dear pizza making genius friend, Seth, I said hi! This is the best pizza we've had since . . . can't come up with a time! Light and Fresh. Perfect fresh baked dough makes a perfect crust, neither thin nor thick. Fresh sauteed onions just a little bit crisp. The tomato sauce--I don't know what made it so fresh and perfect. An unexpected treasure in a Massachusetts hill town in Covid-time. Dough like circle a red sauce with cheese melted on it. They are generous with the toppings. We got pepperoni. There was no taste to any of it though. And we were starving. This is a top 2 pizza place in Western Mass, which isn't saying much as it's not a hot-bed for good pizza :). I grew up in NJ so I was lucky enough to have good Italian pizza around every corner. While not a super traditional Italian pizza, Country Pie does make a far superior pizza to all of the sugary Greek pizza in this area. The staff is friendly, the location is quaint and unassuming which only adds to it's charm. I can't recommend this place more, great pizza and great people! read more

Countrypie Pizza Company is really good pizza. Yes, it's off the beaten path for us. 2 chicks driving west from Boston. First really beautiful fall day. We're hungry. Well, we're always hungry for some good food. I got a recommendation from another yelper that Countrypie Pizza is the place to go. BEST PIZZA in all the land. I put my trust in that recommendation. I put my faith in the GPS. Damn, we drove on Route 112 about 112 times. Is that why it's called Route 112? Anyway, we find this place and it's adorable. Just what you'd picture a pizza place called Countrypie Pizza Company. The two city slickers enter Countrypie. We meet such a nice young man working, named Seth. He even gave us a free sample of the barbecue chicken pizza. DELICIOUS! They had APPLE pizza. It was like a dessert. I got pepperoni, but if and when I return and I WILL return, I'm gonna get the barbecue. It was so damn tasty! I got a soda and my dining companion got a soda and I got a water. EL CHEAPO! Rode into Ashfield with a bunch of fellow motorcyclists and we quickly realized that no one restaurant could handle our numbers on a Friday night so we split up. I decided to "settle" for pizza because it didn't look like I was going to find a seat in the nearby "nicer" restaurant. Our party of six very hungry men shared a large margherita and a large pepperoni and, try as we might, we couldn't finish the two of them. The reviews for this place on Yelp are so effusive yet lacking in detail that I was a little afraid to go--it seemed a little too good to be true. And I am a little skeptical of a five out of five, because I definitely know of better pizzerias. But this is certainly an excellent pizzeria nevertheless--the ones I think are better are really exceptional, like Two Boots Pizza in the East Village. The crust is excellent--tending toward thin, but not extremely thin. Chewy, crunchy on the outside, but not dry. A pretty good amount of cheese--not excessive, but not stingy either. We had mushroom, onion and pineapple. The mushrooms were fresh. I don't know about the pineapples, but they were certainly yummy. Of course the onions were fresh--who uses anything else on pizza? The sauce was on the sweet end of what I like, but definitely in range, and again, they weren't stingy with it. The service was very friendly--I was picking up the pizza, and asked for it to be ready at a certain time, and they were glad to accommodate me. Seating is pretty limited. They have a good selection of drinks, not just Coke or Pepsi products. They also sell homemade cookies and brownies. And to be honest, probably lots of things I missed, because I ducked in and out. A 15" pizza with three veggie toppings was about $16, which seems like a good deal. Anyway, if this is the right place for you to stop, have no fear--you will enjoy the pizza. read more

I've been to those fancy-pants pizza joints that are so popular now, the famous ones in New York, etc. etc., but I have yet to find a slice better than Countrypie. The sauce is a perfect balance of slightly sweet and tomato-y, and the dough is awesome. Every time I go to Ashfield, I dream of Countrypie. Heck, living in Japan for three years was torture because I couldn't get my Countrypie fix! It's seriously out of the way, but anyone in town should check it out. This tiny pizza place is a destination. Ashfield is not a town with a thriving social scene, or one would imagine, much to do. But if its fall, and you want a simply gorgeous foliage moment in time, steal it some afternoon, while finding this pizza. Then go devour it. It's thin crust, great fresh ingredients, and an adorable little storefront where you can continue that conversation you began on the long car ride there. It's cozy. Happily, the portions are anything but - that pizza is enormous! After your through, go to the hardware store next door, if its open. Then drive back a different way, to see more trees. read more

I would go out of my way to get this pizza, and, as it just so happens, you really do have to go out of your way unless you were going to Ashfield anyway. It's truly excellent pizza in a world with a lot of really boring pizza. I think it's the sauce. But the toppings are awesomely done, too. I want to highlight something that I think a lot of people overlook -- the soup. There is usually a little crock pot or two on the counter and this soup is just as good as the pizza. I mentioned this to the owner once and he said: "Aw, thanks. My mom makes the soup every morning." The seasoning is just perfect, without a ton of salt that you can find in a lot of restaurant soups. It definitely tastes like someone's mom made it. So when I'm in Ashfield I usually get a large cup of soup and a slice of pizza for lunch, which costs just under $7. It's cash only. read more

Country Pie is my favorite pizza place ever. It's not only an amazing pizza place, but they sell incredible sandwiches, grinders, soups, homemade cookies, and drinks. The staff is really nice, and obviously this is a local business. A really cool part of this pizza place is all of the games and puzzles they have to entertain while you're waiting to be served. It's incredibly sweet. There is a small interior with tables all around the edges, and all sorts of photographs hung on the walls of different unique pizzas. People come from all around to visit Country Pie, and if you're in the area, or even if you're not and you feel like tasting the best pizza, definitely go for Country Pie. read more

We were driving through Western MA to New Hampshire and discovered this hidden gem. The slices of pizza and chocolate chip cookies tasted fresh and homemade- they were even still warm!! The speciality pizza slices were great- 4$ slice, or 3$ for simple cheese. 1 slice was very filling for me. Love this place! Great pizza and interesting combos. We get half spinach and feta, with tomato and basil. Super friendly, great service and you can count on great pizza, seven days a week! They also have yummy home baked goods, home made soups in winter and donate proceeds once/week in winter to a local group. While you wait, play one of the games available. Great place! read more
