went for a drink and some pizza on Monday night. My pizza was okay but I felt a little rushed. The tall guy working the bar kept staring at the woman at the counter she had a head band on and her hair up she kept smiling and staring back. It was about 650 and two workers left. The guy at the bar kept disappearing with woman who worked the pizza counter. When the guy came out of the room they went into she followed and they kissed then he was fixing his front pants like something was happening. I was disturbed by this. Ate at the S.Deerfield location. GF pizza crust is from "Against the Grain." We had the Pepperoni pizza and a White pizza (olive oil, garlic and cheese). The white was bland but that's how my 4yr old likes it. The pepperonis were big and flavorful. The crust had some crunch - which I like. If it wasn't 2 hours away I'd go back. read more

If you are looking for some delicious organic pizza than Hillside is the place to go. Their ingredients are fresh, and they pride themselves on purchasing local ingredients. The last time that we went to the shop we bought a pizza with multiple veggies and found it to phenomenal. The thin crust was perfectly crisped and the sauce, cheese and veggie ratio was perfect. The other great thing about this restaurant is the fact that they pride themselves on helping out with fundraising programs. We recently purchased some frozen cheese pizzas from a friends fundraiser, and loved the way that they crisped in the oven. The dough tasted just as good as if they were made fresh. popped in between errands for a quick bite. no gluten-free slices, bummer, but i'm not hard-core about it so i didn't leave. i opted for the special -- asiago almond pesto pizza with spinach, squash, walnuts, and honey dijon mustard. $3.21 for a slice and totally worth it. they brought it to the table piping hot. crispity crust with a chewy element, just enough of each of the ingredients. didn't get too soggy over the 6 minutes it took me to chow it down. flavors were subtle and the mustard was an interesting touch. felt healthy, though i did need to use a napkin to sop up grease and squash juice at the beginning. gluten free pizzas available in small only, if you're interested. delicious and i'll go back. read more

This place came highly recommended to me from some ladies I work with. I picked up a pizza tonight, and it was fabulous. Normally I like to try a place a few times before rating it but based on its reputation and general tastiness, I feel comfortable giving it a solid 4 stars right away. The crust was yummy- flavorful and chewy but not too thick. The sauce had a nice flavor. I decided to go with half cheese/half pepperoni for my first pizza and despite its simplicity, it was great. There were huge round thin slices of pepperoni which were slightly crispy. The plain cheese was very good. My only regret is not crisping it up in the oven before eating. It's a 10 minute drive home from there so my pizza was just warm, not piping hot. They do give you the option of a partially cooked pizza that you finish cooking at home but I declined. The thought of turning my oven on in this humidity made me feel silly since I have the a/c's maxed out. Maybe next time I will try it. I like that they offer crust alternatives and feature local and organic ingredients. I will surely return in the future. I've been searching for a reliably good pizza place and I hope this is it. The drive from Greenfield is beautiful as well. read more

Found this little pizza place that uses all organic products. You can make your own pizza and they have gluten free crust. My daughter had a regular crust and I had the gluten free one, there were amazing. You can also choose a vegan cheese if you cannot have dairy. They also have great salads and their prices are very reasonable for the good quality of food. Can't wait to go there again!! read more

Hillside is a solid pizza place that really supports the local farmers and sources for food, which is great. There is a location close to my home, and we've gotten take out there once. The 2 pizza's we ordered were intended to be healthy (whole wheat crust & veggies, no meat, each a different combo of toppings) for my sister's family. While they were reasonably good, the crust was not crisp, and the cheese was not melted or browned. Basically, they were not properly cooked, IMO. It may have been an unusual experience, but that was my first impression of Hillside Pizza. There are other options in the area, and I've never had a bad experience with Holiday or Frontier Pizza, in particular. But, if you're looking for whole wheat dough and organic produce, etc., Hillside is the only option of which I'm aware. read more

What a great find! My friend and I with kids were on our way back to CT from skiing all day. I-91 was closed due to weather/accidents, but Hillside Pizza in South Deerfield was a welcomed diversion! The pizza was awesome. We had the Valley, (Asiago cheese, onion, portobello mushrooms & turkey sausage) on the whole wheat crust!! Just delish. Other offerings Organic, vegan and Gluten Free options. Friendly service, the husband and wife owners were so gracious. Definitely a great stop for delicious Pizza for all those skiers heading to or from the mountains.. Easy on/off too! I have been going to Hillside Pizza (Hadley Location) for about a year and there pizza is pretty good, not fantastic but good. I recently found out that a family member has a gluten sensitivity so was excited to order from them since they offer some gluten free menu items. Here is the kicker...I had family visiting from out of town and took orders to put together an order of approx. $80. When I called for a delivery (Delivery Express) I was told that they would have to charge 4 TIMES THE NORMAL DELIVERY CHARGE!!! I couldn't believe that! I live in Belchertown (literally a stones throw from the Amherst border). I was outraged that they would charge this amount for delivery since my house is only 10 minutes from their restaurant. Not 1 1/2 times or double the cost of delivery 4 TIMES!!! I will now be making pizza at home using "Against The Grain Gluten Free Crust" since that is exactly the crust they are using at Hillside for a fraction of the cost. read more

Great specialty pizzas! Salad was chock full of fresh vegetables! This was a great casual lunch stop with some different wraps/pizzas on the menu. The winter pizza (ordered by the slice) was delicious. The pizza was thin crust (and good thin crust) so if this is how you like your pizza then consider checking them out. read more

I am reasonably happy with this establishment. I have eaten there several times and was only put off by the last outing, when I bought a pizza and bit into a slice to find a strangers hair. A strand of hair in my pizza. Some may say it is extra protein, but for me follicularly endowed pizza slices are a turn off. I may eat there again, but I will be checking closely. read more
