My lovely friend and coworker Angie at Black Dog Ranch (check out her account for adorable dog photos) has a beautiful ranch south of the city and she led me to these donuts that are the talk of Black Diamond. Naturally I had to get my hands on some. Rules for ordering your Westwood Donuts: 1 They change up their flavours every week, so if a round appeals to you, jump on it! 2 You have to place your order on Wednesday before they sell out. Don't press the snooze on this. 3 There's only a short window on Saturday for pick-up (12-3PM on Saturdays). Once you've completed the steps above, you're on your way to donut heaven. RATING: 9/10 - Westwood: Donuts The dough is everything you want it to be--soft, fluffy and fresh. It makes a great base for the various donut creations. I had the pleasure of trying these flavours: Chocolate Fudge Filled: With rich chocolate custard and coated in cinnamon sugar. You can't go wrong here. Banana Cream Pie: This tasted exactly like it sounds. Fragrant banana custard with whip and bananas on top. If you did a blind taste test, it would be hard to differentiate this from the real pie. Nerds Glaze: Imagine a blue raspberry starburst. This one was sweet, tropical and sour. Lemon Glaze: Pound cake in donut form. I adored the natural lemon flavour! The Banana Cream Pie stole my heart, but they were all worth writing home about. I can't wait to have an excuse to try these glorious donuts again and check out Westwood's food and patio. It is located right outside of Motorrad (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/motorrad-millarville) in Millarville, just down the road from the gas plant. The first thing that surprised me was that someone from Motorrad followed our group down to the gas plant and invited our group of 40ish scooterists back to their place for a pit stop. Motorrad is a cool place in of itself. Check it out if you are in the area and a 2-wheeled enthusiast. The next thing that surprised me was that they had a food cart on-site! And a mexican themed one to boot! I only had a Jaritto drink while I was there because I was so thirsty and we didn't have a lot of time. We were also riding back to Calgary to take part in a pig roast. The food I saw people eating though looked awesome and their menu was very enticing. Everything on the menu looked great, but I love mexican food. If I was on a trip past this place I would definitely stop in for a bite to eat and to check out the custom bikes they are working on at Motorrad! I will give it 4/5 for the cart, staff, etc. I am assuming the food is great. I will leave room to update my review if I stop by again and have something more than a pop!
