A surprising, delicious find on our adventure moto ride from Waterton to Banff. This is a true Bistro with menu selections inspired from all over the world. We enjoyed a beef burger and vegan burger. Dining al fresco in the clean mountain air... amazing! And thank you Heidi for the friendly service !

My in-laws took me and my husband out to Stavely Slate Steakhouse for what they called a tasty…read moresteak dinner because it was recommended by a few of their friends! The dinner was my in-laws way of expressing their appreciation for all the hard work over the holiday season! We drove over an hour to reach this restaurant because of its good reviews and recommendations. Unfortunately, I think my in-laws were ill informed! The service provided by the serving staff was impeccable! However, the food left something to be desired! My husband and in-laws ordered the New York Neptune meal and they were happy with the steak itself, (even though not one of them got their steak the way they requested it be cooked) but the crab topping was definitely from a can and was not eaten by any of them! And then to top it off I was given a meal that I didn't even order! I ordered the most expensive steak on the menu which was the 14 ounce ribeye steak medium rare, which cost approximately $64. The steak I received was the furthest from a ribeye steak that you could get. It was about 3/4 of an inch thick if that, was definitely not a 14 ounce piece of meat and was in no way, medium rare... How could it be, being that thin? And the flavour was something to be desired! It was so disappointing because none of us had had a really good steak dinner in some months and were all looking so forward to it. Plus travelled quite a distance (over an hour) to get exactly that! I would not recommend this steakhouse to anyone! Seems they are trying to substitute your order with something that you didn't order (obviously much cheaper in value), as well as not being truthful on their menu items and are hoping you will not complain about it! I would definitely not ever recommend this restaurant to anyone and personally will not ever be eating there again!!! And want to note that there is no way in hell that the silver slate steakhouse should be listed as the #1 steakhouse! The Longview Steakhouse, as well as Longview's Bistro definitely hold spots #1 and #2 as the top two steakhouses in Alberta!

They have a…read morestrict dress code of nicer clothing, and everyone there looked as though they dripped of money. We went in for a super late reservation of 9:15pm, because on Wednesdays, they have a nice special dinner for two that comes with an 18 oz ribeye, cheese bread, two salads, two side dishes, and a slice of cheesecake. This place screams luxury. The bathroom has an attendant (sign outside says no tip) that walked over to give me a fresh towel every time I washed my hands. They also had pads, tampons, mints, floss, extra clothes, anything you could think of for grabs! When I got up to use the restroom, my server looped his arm around mine to escort me there. It was genuinely quite insane lol!!! We tried the Waldorf salad and the house salad. Waldorf was delicious - who knew celery, apples, walnuts, and arugula in a creamy dressing would be so refreshing?? The house salad was pretty standard with a nice addition of radishes. Then came the cheesy bread. That was so insanely fluffy and cheesy - literally some of the best bread I've ever had. Reminiscent of the Taiwanese cheesy garlic bread. The steak was very hearty and perfectly medium!! We had the roasted mushrooms and the broccolini. Broccolini was perfect - just the right chew, crunchy but soft inside, with a light lemon butter and garlic on top. The mushrooms were a bit heavier. They came out perfect, but the longer the sat, the longer it marinated. We finished with the cheesecake. This is on the heavier side, and a great way to finish out the meal! Overall, the food was amazing!! This is the perfect date night romantic spot or just for a super nice meal with stellar service!!

We started with the appetizers, the beef carpaccio and Caesar salad, both were excellent and really set a good tone for the evening. The carpaccio was well-seasoned and fresh, and the salad had a nice balance of creamy and crisp. For our main, we went with the Canada Prime bone-in porterhouse, which came with two sides. The jalapeño creamed corn tasted more like jalapeño grits than corn, which threw me off a bit, it wasn't really my thing. The twice-cooked fingerlings with bacon, chives, and sour cream, on the other hand, were delicious, crispy, flavorful, and well-balanced. Unfortunately, the steak itself missed the mark for me. It arrived lukewarm, not hot like you'd expect from a high-end steakhouse, which was disappointing. For a cut that's supposed to be the star of the show, the temperature really detracted from the experience. To finish off, we kept it light with two scoops of gelato, one cherry vanilla and the other a lemon sorbet. Both were refreshing and hit the spot for a light, sweet ending. Service was definitely a strong point, our server was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the night. Overall, it was a mixed experience: great apps, strong service, but the main event which was the steak it just didn't deliver like I'd hoped. I'd give it another try, but probably order something different next time.

I am not a huge fan of steaks, so I got a few sides. The scallops were cooked to perfection. They melted in my mouth and I would easily order this again. The truffle fries and broccolini were both really good. They would make a great side with a steak. The lobster mac and cheese was my least favourite, it wasn't bad more like average, not a lot of lobster pieces.
