We were very happy with the care our Knox received while he was at the kennel. The facility was clean and tidy and our pup came home healthy and well cared for. Special thanks to Kerry for taking the extra time to make sure Knox was comfortable during his first away from home stay (and easing my anxiety for leaving him!) Kerry and all of the staff recognized and worked with Knox's anxiety and fear. We were amazed Knox was able to be out with the staff within a day of being there. Boarding facility is excellent, as is the staff. The boarding rate was quoted at 40.00 per day We dropped our dog at Saturday afternoon appx. 3 30 pm and picked the dog up at 10 30 Monday morning, therefor i was expecting a bill of appx. 80 to 90 dollars. I work in the oil patch on a 7/7 schedule. So i just recently boarded him Mar 21-28 for the week. I have to admit i called a lot of kennels, but i decided on Country Kennels. So glad i did. AI was of course worried about him. Would he be stressed? Would he eat? Get exercise? Well let me say my worries were put to rest by Belinda and Kerry as well. He was well looked after. Storm is intact so they wont mix him with other dogs. I totally get that. They have a very well interactive schedule for the dogs .Walked few times a day, played with few times a day. AND they get a 10:00PM tuck in by Kerry. Which i thought was just awesome. So not only did i take his kibble, but few cans of wet food , bag of high end treats and even a Tux toy with a container of yogurt. and you know they actually take the time to give him his food the way he is used too. And the yogurt in a toy and freeze it for him. The staff work so hard. And they have long days. But you can tell they are ALL about the care and mental stimulation for the fur babies. When i picked him up, he was panting because he was in the middle of playtime! How great is that. I have already booked him in again. The acreage is a drive for sure. BUT so worth it for your fur baby. Highly recommend Belinda and her staff!!! read more

We heard good things about this kennel, our puppy is young and has never had time away from us before. Upon driving there and arriving, it looked cute and everything looked fantastic, even the chickens had a great place to live! Well, the dogs sure didn't. Concrete enclosures with no bedding or even straw whatsoever and no heat in below freezing weather. Dogs sounded scared and this scared my puppy. He had a little door to go outside into a small fenced area, we booked ahead of time and it wasn't even clean. There were piles of dog poo all over the place. We left him a blanket, thankfully, he didn't need it. We pulled him out of there and paid the cancellation fee and cancelled our trip too. Very, very, disappointed. Please don't bring your dogs here. read more

the office space looked nice and the kennels from my drop-off point of view looked ok. When i picked up my dogs, I was not given any of my extra food back and told my dogs had hit their food when playing and there was none left. This doesn't make sense to me as most places don't keep the food with the dogs. My one dog had a large cut on his leg and I was not told anything about this injury. When I inquired I called and emailed without a quick response. I was told that no one knew about it. This concerns me as well. They are supposed to have one on one time, yet none of the team knew about the injury. I was very disappointed with the stay. I had high hopes. I will not be going back. read more

We love Country Kennels. Our cat is very comfort here. They have great areas for the cats that either have a window to watch the people in the office or a view of outside. They let them out individually to roam and have some cuddle time. The care givers are definitely pet lovers. I would definitely recommend! read more

This was our first time using a kennel for our 9 month old dogs. The staff was very friendly, check-in was easy, everything explained very well, and the staff showed care and concern for our pups. There was lots of staff available too. The pups seemed to enjoy the experience even though it was extremely cold and they couldn't get out and play much. We've lodged our Labrador Retriever with Country Kennels for several years. We call it his doggie resort vacation. He's always excited to go and relishes the walk they take him on immediately on arrival. The staff are usually friendly and helpful (a few minor exceptions, related to bad weather or workload situation) but they are reliable when we request extra feeding or healthcare instructions and treat our pet well. read more

I love that she has space to play as opposed to some of the facilities in Edmonton, which is mostly due to her size as a large breed. Communication with the staff has always been top notch. We have used Country Kennels for our 2 large dogs for the past 5 years and have never been disappointed. It is a family business, run by people who genuinely love animals. Our Boxer-Mastiff gets excited the second we turn off the highway, runs in to the office and jumps up with paws on the counter, wanting to say hello. Dogs come home happy and tired every time. Country Kennels was highly recommended to us and we used County Kennels a few times from December to February. It is reassuring to see how happy our dog was to jump out of the car to go play and see the staff for each return visit. Dogs have a way or letting you know if they love or dislike something and it was clear our pup was happy there! Our dog is a large breed and had a kennel with in/out privileges. Charlie gives mixed play a high 5!! Staff are friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be caring for the animals. We will definitely return. Thanks to the staff for posting photos when requested because we missed seeing our dog as well. read more

This was our first time leaving our dog in a kennel, and this place was recommended. I am NOT recommending it. When we called to book our dog in, we asked if their kennels have indoor/outdoor access so he could go outside freely to do his business. We were mislead and told yes, they do have that for some of their larger kennels, which we then booked. Upon arrival, they had a young guy working the desk, and he seemed to have zero people skills. He could not find us in the system, even though we had pre-registered dsys earlier, so again had to go through our information. We had requested that we leave shirts from home to put in the kennel so our dog could still smell us and be less anxious, and were told yes, that would be fine. We also feed our dog frozen raw food, and included a frozen peanut butter kong to give him as a treat (this was carelessly tossed into our bag with our shirts and left for us to find upon pickup melted on the clothing they also did not give our dog.) We asked for a tour because we wanted to see for ourselves where our dog would be sleeping, and we were shown a dark, cave - like kennel that did not seem large at all, and at this time we were told that the access door to the outside would only be open a few times per day for about a half hour. That is a far cry from what we were told at booking, and the main reason we picked this place. We immediately wished we had booked elsewhere. Upon pickup there was another socially inept young person, who went to get our dog and our stuff. Our dog was bursting with energy, which I'm hoping was from excitement and not from the lack of "ball" time and walks we were promised he would get. When we got home, we realized that we were missing a freezer bag with extra raw food we were asked to provide, and I discovered the lovely melted kong on our never touched clothing. This place will never be recommended again, by myself or the person who recommended it to us. I was left feeling that this place is out for the money, and could really care less if your pet is comfortable and happy! read more

I'm not leaving my dog here. The grown man I spoke to on the phone suggested I take a tour between 12-4 which I came just after 3 pm. The young boy who showed me around seemed awkward and didn't have the warm personality I was looking for. The kennels were all full with dogs, not one of them was out running or playing. I asked how long they run for and he said 10 min a day with one walk per day. It's a farm... why are they not outdoors more often? Should there not be more staff for the amount of dogs here? They have an in and out area that the dogs can go do there business in and hang out while their separate cages get cleaned but its also caged and small. They can interact with others there for a moment but nothing substantial enough to keep them happy. This place gave me a terrible first impression. Pax deserves more human interaction if i'm working out of town for two weeks. read more

I would recommend taking a drive to see for yourself before you leave your dog here...that being said, We left our dog there for four days, and I didn't previously drive out. I took their 'experience' and the webpage for granted and I would not recommend doing the same. All I will say is that if something doesn't seem right or feel right it probably isn't. We have been boarding our bernese mountain dogs here since 2011. Our first loved to go there. After he passed, we brought our new guy there. He also loved it. If you know bernese, you know they are sensitive dogs who are very perceptive of their environment. They told us everything we needed to know: they were happy there and treated well. This was our first time leaving our dog there and most certainly our last. After a terrible experience at the kennel we had used for the past several years, we had to try a new one. The web site looked promising and we liked that it was on a farm and they had great pictures, etc. I registered him late at night and got a call the next day from them to confirm and they asked a few questions, so they knew he was an old dog, but no other special needs. All seemed good. When we dropped him off, there was a very nice woman who checked us in and our dog was immediately taken for a walk by one of the boys who works there. Again, looked great and we could see how happy he was as we drove away and saw him being walked in the field. We got back a week later and that certainly changed. The woman who greeted us was OK, not nearly as friendly, but whatever. However, when they brought our dog out, he was filthy. I hadn't expected a bath, but he was gross. He had poop clumped in his fur and spread all over his behind (he is a small dog, so a small amount covers his entire behind). I have no idea how long he had been like that, but clearly they hadn't looked, nor cared to look. I had to demand they go and clean him up. Another boy came and took him and then he came back with a soaking bum. Obviously just taken a hose and rinsed him off. Whatever, at least he was clean, though smelly. I had that bad feeling again. So I went to pay and then had to ask for them to actually return all the stuff I had left with him. They did have his box of food, I will grant them that, but I had to ask for his bed, which they seemed to have no idea about. Took them about 15 minutes to find it, though again, i will grant them that they did show it to me earlier, but they showed me the bottom of it and I didn't recognize the bottom, so had them keep looking. Maybe showed me the top, where they actually sleep, and I would have recognized it. Then I had to tell them to find my shirt I had left, too. As someone else mentioned, I always leave an old shirt so he can smell me while we are gone. Nope, couldn't find that, either. Another 15 minutes and they just raised their hands. Couldn't figure out where it could have gone and didn't seem to really care. They said they would call if it turned up, but I didn't even bother to stay to leave my number. I just wanted that dog home and in a bath and with his family. After reading some of these other stories of horror, I can't imagine how bad our dog had it and can be sure that he will never be staying there again. read more

My dog stayed at County Kennels Bed and Biscuit for a week this summer while my fiance and I were away on vacation. I am rating this so low because I left a bag of toys for my dog, because he's a chewer when bored. When we came back from vacation, they had lost the bag at drop-off and hadn't given him anything to do in the kennel while we were away for the week. He destroyed his dog bed because he chewed it, which I had to replace, and it took the staff about a half an hour to find the bag when we were leaving. There were no other dogs being dropped off at the same time, so I don't know how it got lost. We were offered no explanation or apology, or promise that they'd figured out how it happened and wouldn't let it happen again. Our pup slept for about two days straight when he came back (we think because of all the barking at the kennel - he's not used to being around other dogs for that long), and exhibited some symptoms of kennel cough.
