Ok, so I'm from Gaylord, MI and my huskies and I come here about once every other week or so (my…read moredogs would go daily if I let them). The store is ALWAYS competitively priced, the associates ALWAYS are incredibly nice and I usually always end up striking up a conversation with them because they are all just great, helpful, and down to Earth, and this store ALWAYS has everything I need and then some (at very fair prices). I have 3 huskies (2 of which go to the store with me as the third is old and never wants to go for rides) and they just LOVE going here. They always get lots of attention from the employees (one of which also has a husky and she always remembers us and always is so great to see!) and they also have given us lots of free samples of treats and foods. I also have 2 cats and I have discovered a few different treats that my picky old cat now loves and I was only able to discover these through their generous free samples for them. On Halloween I remember going there and they had all sorts of stuff they were giving for people AND pets and it's times like those and all the other times I've been helped here that made me realize that this isn't just another pet store. This is a place where everyone there honestly cares for your pets and because of that you will only get recommended the very best things to suit your individual needs. And it's also a place that your pet is not only welcomed, but loved!

Our pug, Ellie, loves the shop. We spoke at length with Ken about treats for our pup. He was extremely knowledgeable and educated us on the risks of rawhide bones. Ellie was able to sniff around and chose some alligator shaped dog safe bones. She loves these things. She savors them and parades around the house like a proud pup showing off her gator. We revisited the store today, 9/3/19, to get her some snacks and the owners were wonderful!! You can tell these people are genuine dog lovers. I looked at Ken's face and I could see absolute love in his face when he looked at Ellie. He allowed her to sniff around the shop and recommended some products to help with her sensitive stomach. His wife, Linda, showed us how to cut Ellie's nails in a way that I wasn't traumatic for her. We appreciated the help so much! It's always an upsetting event when it's time to cut her nails and she's running amok, squirming and crying. She let Linda cut her nails with minimal fuss. Ellie wanted to eat some everything after sniffing around. We purchased some alligator bones and some stick treats. Ken even gave us a sample bone for her to eat right away. She was panting and he offered her cold water from the back. These people are very kind and real animal lovers. I never write reviews but I am so happy with this place. Bring your pet in and you can see the love that the owners put in. We stopped in on a whim the first time but we will definitely be back.

I have to say that our 12 yr. old dog was given by far the worst hair cut she's ever had. When their groomer "Brenda" was finished with her her hair was terribly shaggy and even. Our Molly looked as if a five year old had taken scissors to her. Absolutely unbelievable! And even worse, she had a nick on the inside of her ear with dried blood in several spots that we weren't told about. This lady obviously doesn't know how to groom dogs, We will never, ever have our dog groomed at "Holistic Pampered Pets" again.

I contacted this place because I had heard that they had birds there, with an avian vet that comes to visit routinely. I had been trying to re-home my elderly Mother's two budgie parakeets because where she moved to, she was not allowed to have them at her new residence. I did not want her birds to go to just anyone who might want to "try out" a couple parakeets, wanting to ensure that they would go to a safe, loving home, a home where the new owner would have prior and/or current experience with birds, so my search had gone on for some time now. To my initial delight, when I called and talked to Jeremy, he had stated that he, himself would love to take the birds and take them to his home to care from them as he has and enjoys birds. He said what seemed to be all the right things and I was so happy that the birds would go to a home where they would be well received and cared for, with a seemingly knowledgeable caretaker. The next step was lining up when to bring the birds to Jeremy. The initial call I made to him was before our winter blizzard, so I needed to wait until that passed, of course, and then wait a little longer for a warm, sunny day so the birds would not get chilled in transport. We finally had a sunny warm day, on a Saturday, in the forecast and agreed upon that day, mid afternoon, (he was aware) to meet up, for Jeremy to receive the budgies. Mid week I called and asked him if I should call when I was on my way over and he said that I would not need to do that as he planned to be there ALL day that Saturday. He mentioned that if he did step out, he would be right back. I pressed the calling ahead idea a little harder, explaining that I would be coming from an HOUR away and again, he agreed that he'd be there all day and there was no need to give a heads up before I took that long drive in. So, that sunny Saturday morning I woke up, cleaned both of the beautiful cages (that I was giving him free of charge, along with the birds) and loaded up the cages, the supplies and the birds into the vehicle and set out for the hour drive. Once I finally arrived there, appx 315 pm, a woman (I assume the current owner) asked how she could help me. I thanked her but said that I was meeting Jeremy to drop off my two budgies. She replied saying that she had not seen him all day and did not expect to as he was working at a physician's home, doing some work on his property! WHAT?!! I asked her to please call him and she complied. Jeremy, of course, did not answer. She said I could set the birds down and leave them. I was not about to do that. I knew then and there I would never be back. I didn't like the looks of the place, the smell and certainly not the NO SHOW after I drove an HOUR one way!! How so very unprofessional and inconsiderate of Jeremy. ... A few days later, I called to talk to him on the phone to express my disappointment and when he came to the phone and I told him who I was, he put the phone down on the counter and made me wait probably 8 minutes while I heard him talking to someone else! Once he got back on the phone I asked him why he did not show up as planned and I reiterated how he said that I did not need to call in advance to let him know I was on the way. He tried to say that he didn't know that he had to be there for me. Um, excuse me? We talked about this numerous times on prior phone calls, about meeting up. We never discussed a curb side drop off!! I would never do that. I reminded him that I drove an hour to get there and an hour home and put extra gas in my vehicle with today's gas prices. I did not use foul language or raise my voice at all (though it would have been warranted). He was very unsympathetic to all that I went through and blew me off completely. He even had the nerve to say, "at this point, I'm not gonna take the birds." Like I'd really give them to him now??!!! No way. He's not one to be trusted obviously or dependable. He actually ended up hanging up on me! Horrible. Just Horrible! I would not have even give this place one star, but I had to, in order for the review to post.
